You love your new Windows 7 PC, you really do, but you keep on having this nagging suspicion that your personal information is being secretly smuggled by applications out to the internet and, from there, to who knows where. You can't unplug from the internet, so what can you do about it? You can get a copy of Windows7FirewallControl!

Windows7FirewallControl protects both local and remotely-running applications from undesirable incoming and outgoing network activity. Controlling an entire network/cloud by implementing a distributed security model and creating virtual sub networks on physical networks/clouds. The program manages external connectability by automatically synchronizing the hardware-firewalls/-routers Port Forwarding.

But Windows7FirewallControl isn't just for ensuring your privacy. It can also actually save you money on expensive (mobile, satellite, etc.) internet connections! Windows7FirewallControl can disable traffic-consumptive windows and updates. This mode is also useful when on less-secure public Wi-Fi/Wi-Max connections.

How will you know when suspect network activity is blocked by Windows7FirewallControl? Simple -- you'll receive instant notifications! If you have an app that does require a fair amount of incoming and outgoing network connections, don't worry, Windows7FirewallControl can be set up to use different security settings for each application.

Best of all, all of these great security benefits that Windows7FirewallControl provides come in a tidy little package that clocks in at just around 2MB!

Please note: Windows7FirewallControl does not utilize any third-party kernel or system drivers. offering unbeatable stability and 100% compatibility with any application!

Berry Taylor Been using the free version with Windows 7 x64 since I installed Win7. I love it. It's a wonderful product which does the job. Very small footprint and non-intrusive once you've allowed your normal programs (you might want to change the "sound", but that's easy enough :)

I'll be jumping on this one as soon as it's available. Thanks sphinx and BTJ.

Mr P i'd like to give an early bump to hence i think wfc deserves this, i'm already a pro user of wfc, i'm happy with the firewall, developer is very helpful and development is also active.

but..
users should know day of purchase they might stumble across problems, problems with pro version is "manual" configuration, this is not for the heartfainted and not everyone is up for this task, there are presets that comes with, indeed helpful and for many this could be enough, but there will be one day, one day you may sit there in the rulepanel cursing your brains out.

now vs free version wich is bit dangerous but extremely popular .. hmm
free has "enable" "disable" solely, free leaves systemroot unprotected, free is easy to config but not very sensible to me leaving root like this.

i have posted in wfc forum beta wishing something more convenient for wfc pro version and keeping my hopes
****************************************************
solve that then wfc firewall should be a goldcow
****************************************************
i mean so many switching to windows 7, you have a great opportunity here.

other thoughts when i bought this some months ago, why freeforums?, no biggie but it had me reflect once or twice whether i should purchase or not, maybe work little on wfc design and remove this annoying appdetect sound, i wondered many times why you insist on using it

wfc is a great light alternative and i would like to recommend it,
so, thumbs up and thanks for bringing it to bdj - happy salesday

Serge Grabo Thank you for the suggestions; the default sound will be changed in the nearest update.

.one day you may sit there in the rulepanel cursing your brains out..
. wishing something more convenient .

Could you please give us a sample of where exactly the main difficulty was and how the problem has been solved (if any) by you? Usually a detached view is very helpful for formalizing the problem and creating a unified improvement.

Sincerely,
The Team

Mr P well, you sent me an e-mail to so i suppose you wanted some clarification?

firstly my post here was to give you a boost and not the opposite,
as a returning visitor here at bdj i know that early replies catches extra attention throughout the week, it's for your benefit i have responded here, i am also testing all betas so this is how i know development is active.

as for the cursing part, well.. it is a reality for me without any advisor, wizard creating my own zones\rulesets, whether hard or not depends how savvy you are, currently in wfc pro there is no advisor, wizard besides upon detection adding your application within a defaulted zone\preset, a zone\preset that may or may not work with your application by default.

defaulted zones\rulesets does not have complete coverage (no firewall has) so yes your paying users are destined for manual config sooner or later, using free vs pro differs greatly, currently in wfc pro you have a logfile, a logfile wich cannot be reset btw (by chance you could add reset?) and there is also a popup balloon wich gives indication, it is also helpful fixing your rulesets and zones.

so yes there is cursing at times without any automatized creation of zones\rulesets, in most cases i have solved all manual configurations, but it is not always that easy

perhaps many current free users are tempted of buying the 7th, i say they should go for it, personally i don't know that many that have wfc paid version, most that i know uses free, hopefully this can be turned around and push development even further for a firewall that i like very much

i will refer link here at bdj to friends and forums, blogs that im aware many uses wfc free, it might boost for some extra sales,
there is no excuse really not buying wfc pro at this great price

and hey.. thanks for taking care of the sound, this is great improvement :)

Serge Grabo We just would like to get the opportunity of one priceless feedback more from the serious and experienced user.
A rule/zone creating wizard and the log resetting option are scheduled.

Thank you very much!

Ondrej Tomec I've been using free version for some time on my main computer and my laptop.

If I purchase one copy, may I use it on both computers?

Serge Grabo The single license is valid for a single installation place only, concurrent registrations with a single license are not allowed.
However, if you need to protect multiple computers not running simultaneously, you could consider purchasing the portable version
(http://sphinx-soft.com/do...rtable.zip) and installing the product onto a USB flash drive. The single (but portable) installation will protect any computer the flash is connected to. The discounted licenses are valid for the portable version as well.

Dave Clarke (Australia) It's unfortunate that bitsdujour don't send out invites that are valid for a couple of days. There is a world outside of the US and as far as having dates and times based on US Eastern times seems lazy in 2010. I was early for it on one check and late for it at last check.
Disappointed I dipped out on getting this software - I'll just have to continue with the free version's nag screen or get something else.

Serge Grabo Most probably it should be addressed to bitsdujour directly, not to the developers.
Actually we (the developers) are not able to affect the term. You could try free (limited) version of the product (http://sphinx-soft.com/Vista/order.html) or contact us directly, we believe we could offer you a special personal discount for the Plus version.
