What are people saying about Wise Duplicate Finder

CFGuy Question for WiseCleaner Rep - I took a look at your website for this product, "Wise Duplicate Finder", and I saw a headline stating "Manage Any Type of Duplicates", which is quite impressive. My question is: can this program find Outlook email message (".MSG" files) duplicates. and if so what is the process - is there a toolbar installed in the Outlook program, or is it done through a "standalone" program? Thanks so much for your help with this question, and for your generosity in offering this program for free here on BDJ. -Cfguy.

John Why it cannot detect network drive?

May 18 2018 at 6:26am Copy Link

Jim Ranson The Wise website indicates that if one purchase the Pro version which I hope this version is, that there is a yearly subscription involved. Is there any such subscription involved with the giveaway for the program to function after a year?

May 18 2018 at 2:25pm Copy Link

Constantin Florea @Jim Ranson, The giveaway version of the product will function for ever (is not subscription based) but cannot be upgraded.

George Van Winkle I've downloaded and installed this product. I can find ZERO information about how it determines a file is a duplicate, other than the obvious name and size option. The WiseCare site is so lacking in detail that it makes me think of a malware site. Does it perform a bit-for-bit comparison? Does it hash the files and compare the hash values?

Without information on how it determines a file is a duplicate, it's pretty much worthless because you have to manually review EVERY FILE IT FLAGS to determine for yourself whether it's a duplicate or a false alarm (there are A TON OF FALSE DUPLICATES in the result). If you're comparing multiple hard drives, that's just not a reasonable thing to do.

Until WiseCare is more forthcoming about the inner workings of their software, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT TRUSTING THEIR PRODUCTS.

xilolee George Van Winkle:

Did you try to choose "exact match"?
A backup is automatically created by default in "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Wise Duplicate Finder\"
You can change the path.

May 19 2018 at 1:11am Copy Link

Jim Ranson @George Van Winkle Interesting points. Just because an application says a file is a duplicate does not mean it is. Unless it uses a set of user criteria to allow the user to have confidence in the results there is no point in using the software.

Its fine if the program makes a backup. that allows us to recover from short term oopsies. Part of using such a program is to eliminate the duplicate files over time and in turn free up hard drive space etc. Having to keep backups around because of the lack of confidence in the app kinda of defeats that aim.

holec I tried it, but Wise Duplicate Finder can't use mounted network drives. I see only the hard disk drives. Over the network function, the network drives are accessible.

For me, Duplicate Cleaner is better.

May 19 2018 at 10:51am Copy Link

George Van Winkle xilolee, I did try selecting "exact match" but it never finished and there is no explanation of how it determines what it an "exact match." The software doesn't show any information about what criteria it is using to compare the files as an "exact match."

Again, without ANY details about how this function is performed, it is virtually worthless. That means I have to manually verify that files it flags are duplicates.

I've got other free duplicate finders which are much more transparent about the method of comparing the files. Also, they're MUCH faster than this software.

My advice is "Don't waste your time or hard drive space on this one."

cait User I found that the program found some 400 duplicate zero bit files....a lot were something to do with assembly...that made me very nervous as I know some programs require zero byte files. I must admit, I have 30T of information on this system, but that number of duplicate zero files scares the heck out of me. When I ran other duplicate finders, they did not even show up. I chose to err on the side of caution and deleted the program.

Antoine Hirsch I need a refund for the following "bundle" deal:
PCWinSoft
File Sharing Pro - Lifetime Upgrades (1)
1AVCenter - Lifetime Upgrades (1)
Wise Duplicate Finder v2.0.2 (1)7/16/2023 9:10:41 PM
BDJ-hfJpyz
$19.80
I received an empty folder when I downloaded the software and was not able to download the other two programs (Wise Duplicate and 1AVCenter) after 2 "resend" emails.
There is no refund functionality on the PCWinsoft site.

Constantin Florea @Antoine Hirsch, I could refund your order or I could help you get the registration information. In this case, specifically to get the registration information for File Sharing Pro and 1AVCenter, I would have to ask the vendor's help.

Please let me know your decision on the above.

Jonathan Plutchok I installed the program and clicked the link for registering, but have not received a registration key by email. So I tried "Resend", but still nothing. Yes, I checked my Spam folder. Then I tried the direct URL to the unlocked installer, downloaded it, and installed it – but it's the same thing. The Register button in the Upgrade tab opens a window for inputting the license key, which I still don't have. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? TIA.

Loyal Customer Hello Constantin.
I'm unable to download the program.
I have tried multiple ways to download it to no avail.
After several tries, I now have the famous popup that tells me the software has been downloaded too many times.
It seems to count each click as a download although a download was not successful.
Your help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Loyal Customer Thank you, Constantin.

Oct 30 2024 at 3:05pm Copy Link

Constantin Florea @Loyal Customer, The vendor wrote the following to us regarding the fact that the installer is indeed unlocked:
"
This giveaway version has no time limit, can't update.
Wise Duplicate Finder is FREE to search duplicate files and delete duplicate files, only the Keep One is locked. If the Keep One feature is working fine, then it's a PRO version.
But if users want to update to a new version in the future. Then he or she can purchase and enter the license key in the Upgrade section.
"

If you have indeed used the installer I sent you (the one containing October 2023) to install the app then you have the unlocked version.
