Whatever happened to the paperless office? Remember when tech pundits were predicting that one day, everything would run on computers and there wouldn't be any need to sacrifice trees to manage the daily affairs of our businesses? I don't know about you, but these days I have more clutter than ever before, the result of pages and pages of material that I've printed off of the internet. My piles include bank statements, online shopping receipts, travel itineraries, recipes - you name it, it's in there.

X2Net PrintStore may just be the lifesaving inner tube that'll save us from drowning in this sea of documentation. In a nutshell, X2Net PrintStore acts as a virtual printer that resides on your computer. Whenever you feel the overwhelming need to print something out, print it to the X2Net PrintStore, and the app captures and stores your printout for you - no paper necessary! X2Net PrintStore keeps all of your print jobs safe and sound, until you decide to delete them or print them out for real.

X2Net PrintStore really shines when used as part of a network. With X2Net PrintStore installed on all of your machines, you can easily transfer your print jobs from one computer to another!

John D Moore How do you change the name of the file you want to save before you save it. I have figured out how to change the name after I have saved the file but not before.
Also, I haven't beena ble to to save a file to a different directory that is not on the C:\

Colin Messitt It's not possible to specify the name before the print has been captured. This is because the capturing is actually happening in a print driver, and getting user interaction in a print driver is severely restricted in Vista. Also, it wouldn't be possible if you were to print from another PC while using X2Net PrintStore as a networked printer, how would the user on the remote PC specify the name when asked, because it would appear on the PC that the virtual printer was installed on! (You can install one virtual printer on a centralised machine and print to it from all PCs on a network, very useful for offices etc.)

X2Net PrintStore has to decide somehow what to name the captured item, so it uses the jobname specified by the supplying application. Mostly these are fairly sensible, but some programs that you print from just use silly names like "Print" or similar. Unfortunately we have no control over that.

You should be able to make the data save wherever you want, on whatever drive you want. You use the options on the Tools/Data Storage options menu to change the data storage location. If you can't get that to work please e-mail us at support at x2net dot com and we'll try to work out why.

Steve P Can you:

Delete unwanted pages?
Print multiple pages on one sheet?
Print multiple pages on a larger (ie 22" x 34") sheet?
Combine multiple print jobs into one?
Print on electronic letterhead?
Add Stamps and Watermarks?
Convert to grayscale?
Remove Graphics?
Print Double Sided?

Colin Messitt No it isn't designed to actually modify the print data in any way. It is designed to save the print so you don't need to print out things that are often of a transient nature (online shipping receipts and things like that).

k h I haven't had enough time to evaluate this program thoroughly, only long enough to know that it does work. I am going to purchase it because it will be useful to the extent that I can store receipts and other items that I don't expect to ever have to print. As I said, the application does what it says it will. However, the prints it produces are poor compared to prints sent directly to my printer. The images are at least as clear as my Paper Port images and X2Net PrintStore, works faster. I am assuming there will be improvements in the future.

Colin Messitt Strange, the printed page is pretty much identical here. One thing strikes me as a possible, are the virtual and real printers configured differently somehow maybe (paper size different or something like that?).
