Scott Van Leeuwen I hope this software does the following:

Converts my iTunes Library to 192Kbs and save the file nto the coressponding directory on another hard drive.

For example convert C:\Itunes\Bruce Springsteen\Dancing In The Dark.mp3 and then converts it and puts it in the same naming format on say drive D:\Itunes\Bruce Springsteen\Dancing In The Dark.mp3

I paid Xilisoft $34.95 on the promise it would do that, but it doesn't. Everything goes into the root directory.

Zoran Gvozdenovic Hi Scot,

Yes you can do it in 2 steps with Mp3 to Wav and Wav to Mp3 converter which are both included in Zortam Mp3 Media Studio. For conversion we are using lame encoder/decoder.

joan collins @Scott: Don´t understand your problem. When you in Xilisoft click "Browse" by "Destination" (under the profile) you can set the output-directory. Or want you to have the converted mp3 on both directory (C: & D:)? In one step I think no SW will make it... My tip: Convert with Xilisoft (when you have pay so much) and after that run a Syncprogram (Freeware) that copies the files on the other drive. Convert with Zortam (to wav and retour) is not recommended because by every convert-process you lose quality... But in the next days Zortam is for free and you can test it.
Sorry for my english!

Scott Van Leeuwen @Joan Collins

I want to convert my Itunes library so all my files are 192Kbs in MP3. The problem I am having with all the software programs is that they happily convert the files, but they do not put them into the destination hdd in the same sub-directory\artist\album name\song title format. They go straight into the root directory. I have over 11,000 songs I want to do this to and the way Zortam want me to do it will take me a year. Xilisoft Audio Convertor has the same problem. It will only put the audio files into the correct sub-directories if I am ripping from CD not converting.

Petr I am looking for an MP3 editor that enables me to edit multiple MP3s at the same time. I would like to change or add the artist or album title for all selected MP3s. Every MP3 editor I've found, so far, makes me update the same info for all artist or album cover fields multiple times, once for each MP3.

I forsee something like a spreadsheet style editor so I can copy and paste MP3 tags for a whole range of MP3s. Can your Studio Pro help with this type of feature?

joan collins @Scott: OK, I think now I know what you want. The only SW I know that makes the process a little "automatically" is Magix MP3 Deluxe. In the library you mark the files you want to convert and it makes subdirectorys artist/album on the collected destination. But only when the inputfiles are from one album. By different albums it makes only a subdirectory for the artist. By files with different artists (sampler etc.) you have the same problem that you must write the name of the folder. SW is not free but you can get a 30-day-.trial and test it.
Good luck!

Also it is illegal for the GST to be above 10%, even with rounding. My AUD$14.17 purchase should gave been hit with AUD$1.41 not the AUD$1.42 you charged.

Though it should have been 0% are you are not registered for GST here in Australia.

I have for the last couple of years used a lisensed copy of Zortam on a stationary + notebook for listening to podcasts.Updates install on top of the old version and preserve the license where I do not remember if the license is lifetime. For me the application works fine, where it will boost audio on my notebook if necessary. Search for YouTube content and coverart works for me.I like the classic Windows layout and have slimmed it a little down by deleting some of the skins.I also untick the "start up with Windows" option.I have now installed this BDJ free version on a third very old XP and is grateful to Zortam for a fine MP3 player and tag editor coming with many other options.

Richard User I had an earlier version from a prior BDJ promotion but never actually used it. So I thought I'd give the app a fresh look. I purchased (for free, tyvm!) and installed the program.

I've used other tools and so am familiar with mp3 tagging and library management in a "folder" (not iTunes) environment. ZMMS appears to have some nice features, but there are a few things I can't figure out.

#1- How do you rescan your library so that ZMMS can pick up your file additions/deletions/changes made externally (i.e., not made through the app)?

#2- I test-changed the metadata on a music track and ran the Synchronize ID3 Tags, expecting that ZMMS would pick up the changed data. It did not, nor did it revert the track back to the previous state. So, what's going on?

#3- I went to the Zortam forum, hoping to find some answers. I found questions but it doesn't appear that any of the questions were being answered. I see that Zoran is responsive to questions here, but not so much on the forum? I don't get it.

So, while the app looks nice it either lacks a few key features, or the features are there but the UI doesn't readily expose them. Either way, as it stands now, this is an app I can't use.

Richard User @Zoran,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I watched the 7 minute-plus video. It was a nice tour of some of the features of ZMMS, but nothing I hadn't figured out already. It didn't address either of my questions #1 or #2 above.

I could start sending e-mails back and forth to your support team, and maybe I will, but that shouldn't be necessary to find out how to update your library after the initial scan. That's a pretty basic task. It should be obvious.

If I do e-mail you, there won't be any screenshots. In question #1, I'm asking about a function or feature I can't find. What would I take a screenshot of?

Thanks,
Richard

Robert Hare I received (downloaded) the zip file and in the text included is a username and license key number. The username included appears to have been applied to a previous version I already have installed, however the license key still lists my old number and there appears to be nowhere or way I can apply the new license key code. Peter Blaise Excellent controls to let me name files and songs as I prefer ( Artist Date Title ), WITH full lyrics.

I use free Musicbrainz Picard to get tons of inner song ID first, but it doesn't get full lyrics or allow me to rename in batches by patters ( Artist Date Title ) as easily.

So I batch-process one artist at a time through both, in order, Musicbrainz Picard first for some stuff, then Zortam MP3 Media Studio for complete control.

Wish: convert FLAC and other music to MP3 on import.

Rick Hello,

I was considering the Mp3 Media Studio Pro purchase given the substantial discount but I could not readily find any customary information regarding the vendor on their website (e.g., geographical location, address, phone number, years in business, business philosophy, full software license agreement, support and/or contact hours, trusted site seals, etc.). I anyone can share information regarding the company or developers behind Zortam.com and Mp3 Media Studio it will be appreciated. In general, I personally avoid software that is seemingly sold by anonymous vendors.

Best regards.

Ray User I just installed it and it immediately started searching for music (first strike) and also immediately started playing music (second strike). Since it was searching for music I couldn't even stop or pause the music (You actually can't do anything). I didn't even let it finish searching for music --- Uninstall. That is completely unacceptable behaviour for a program. That is just as annoying as those ads that pop-up on websites that automatically begin playing in a hidden window. I don't care how good the program might be but you lost me before it even started.

Peter Blaise This is 99% the best.

I still use FREE MusicBrainz Picard to get complete MP3 tags and names, and still use FREE Tagscan to see and control "Group description", for entire batches of selected files so my music shows up the way I want it to in Apple devices ( horribly non-standard ).

But Zortam Music Studio EASILY lets me rename the files and the songs to be the same, the way I like them, and I like them like this:

- Anna Nalick 2005 01 Breathe (2 Am).mp3
- Anna Nalick 2005 02 Citadel.mp3
... and so on.

I don't care about albums ( who does albums anymore? ).

I just want:

- Artist Date # Title

On BOTH the filename AND the song when it appears on my iPhone.

And you can use Zortam Music Studio to standardize or customise - great software, the software I use last after schmoozing the tracks with the other stuff I mentioned.

Steven User I am currently using a version of Zortam MP3 media studio which I was happy with until it stopped downloading track information from the internet to complete the ID3 tags while burning tracks from a CD. Now I have to enter all the information manually, which is very time consuming. I was wondering if Zortam has fixed this problem. I would consider upgrading to a current version if the aforementioned problem is fixed, but if I would have to continue entering all the information manually, then there would be no point in upgrading.

Loyal Customer After making the library, and loading the music to it, how in the world do you make this program play randomly?
It kept on playing the very first title in the library over and over.
Pressing the "Shuffle" button at the bottom didn't help.
I have looked through all the Menu items, but didn't find anything helpful.
This is a very basic and essential function, and it should have its own dedicated button at the top.
Kind of frustrating trying to find where the feature is buried, but to no avail.

I’ve never been able to run the 64bit version of ZMMS Zortam MP3 Media Studio anyway, getting an eerror: [ the procedure entry point ntquerywnfstatedata could not be located in the dynamic link library ntdll.dll ] – and finding that to be unresolvable.

The 32bit ZMMS Zortam MP3 Media Studio works fine, and I ‘manage’ one artist, sometimes one album at a time – even The Beatles are ‘only’ ~12,000 files ( ! ), and I’d mentally not want to ‘manage’ all of that in one fell swoop anyway, so I don’t ‘need’ whatever larger management the 64bit version might offer.

To start working on a fresh batch of MP3 files, just click
– [ New Zortam MP3 Library],
– then [ OK ],
– then [ Cancel ], to clear the screen,
– then browse to load the next group of MP3s to work on ( though FLAC and other media files will also load )
– repeat the New-OK-Cancel trick to clear each ‘batch’ and start the next batch you want to edit into a fresh screen – otherwise, there’s no way of knowing if comparisons and deletions affect files that are no longer on screen from the previous batch editing or not, this [ New-OK-Cancel ] trick keeps things clean by then only working on the next files intentionally selected.

I like the ability to auto-tag and get lyrics ( and cover art ), the ability to rename both the Files and the Titles to match each other, so they appear the same in Microsoft Windows File Explorer and on MP3 players, and the ability to delete tags that I don’t want or that are filled with inaccurate data.

I trust ZMMS Zortam MP3 Media Studio to find and remove duplicates – that’s rare hard-earned trust.

– – – – –

Awkwards:

It does not automatically show that it has already volume-leveled songs the next time it loads songs, so I click to level, and only then does it show that I already did that.

Some presentation boxes cannot be resized, such as the lyrics display.

The player, and the presentation of song lists, are separate tasks, and can feel confusing, but once used to it, I can load one album into the player, start playing, then clear the presentation list, and then load and edit another album while continuing to listen to the previous album – weird, confusing, but actually quite nice.

Note, the free version works for most features, and the licensed version reverts to the free version when the license expires, so you can still use most of ZMMS Zortam MP3 Media Studio free forever.

– – – – –

Speaking of free, I first use free Media Human Audio Converter to make everything MP3, and I then use free MusicBrainz Picard to accurately identify songs and save them with the name pattern I prefer
– Filename = [ Artist ][ Date ][ Track# ][ Song-Title ]
… which I then have ZMMS Zortam MP3 Media Studio copy to the Song-Title:
– Song-Title = [ Artist ][ Date ][ Track# ][ Song-Title ]
… so that they appear the same in Windows and on MP3 players.

I occasionally use free Advanced Renamer to clean up filenames, especially when double spaces appear in filenames.

Occasionally I use free TagScanner v6.1.1 to dig for tenacious tags and clear or reset them, though MusicBrainz Picard is good at allowing me to delete often otherwise hidden inappropriate tags, too.

And of course, I use included Microsoft Windows File Explorer to move and rename directories to my liking and according to my own organizational preferences.

Included Microsoft Windows Media Player seems to complement ZMMS Zortam MP3 Media Studio, and I do not find them competing when toggling back and forth between them.

– – – – –

Aside, I’ve yet to find a perfect MP3 player, especially for my Android smartphone, and I am now exploring VLC and Musicolet, and occasionally YTMusic, but they all fail to pass THE CASSETTE TEST – picking up where I left off when popping the cassette back in the next time, heck even CDs and CD players can’t pass the cassette test, and vinyl records and record players can’t either – does anyone know of a music player that passes the cassette test, picking up where we left off, even after rebooting our phone or leaving it off while recharging overnight?

– – – – –

In other words, music management is varied and personal, we each have our preferences, and I’ve found that no one tool does everything, and that’s OK, I have no problem with a full toolbox.

ZMMS Zortam MP3 Media Studio is updated frequently, and the author Zoran Gvozdenovic loves feedback, so send your thanks to [ zoran @ zortam. com ]

Thanks for letting us explore this and share.

.

+ PROS:
Full of features, easy to operate on simple or deeper complex levels, has lots of automation, is great for lyrics and cover art, and works in lesser-featured free mode forever.
- CONS:
Does not show ALL tags, some features have to be explored to figure out how they work.

I note they have changed their default install path to a path in the users AppData hierarchy rather than the proper Program Files sub folder but we can change that I presume they did this because the self update feature of yt-dlp.exe needs write access and the way they execute it would not be able to self update if it was installed in protected C:\Program Files or C:\Programs Files (x86)... they could resolve this by creating an admin task at installation to run the yt-dlp.exe -U command. and the nrun the self update job when required.
