When someone needs the answer to a question, where do they go to find the experts? Website forums, support forums, or chat rooms? Nope, nope, and nope. They go to the Usenet newsgroups.

The Usenet newsgroups are a hive of collective intelligence and wisdom, all specialized and condensed into highly specific topics. Each of these newsgroups contains a level of knowledge that simply cannot be found anywhere else on the internet. And now, there's a way of getting contact information for everyone in these newsgroups. It's called the Atomic Newsgroup Explorer.

Atomic Newsgroup Explorer can extract email addresses from any Usenet newsgroup, or any NNTP server. Just point Atomic Newsgroup Explorer at the Usenet newsgroup(s) of your choice, and specify what details you want saved - names, email addresses, newsgroup names - and then press 'Start'. When it's done, Atomic Newsgroup Explorer gives you the option to save the results to a text file, a Microsoft Word file, or a Microsoft Excel file. It's that easy!

Atomic Newsgroup Explorer even works with password-protected private newsgroups, as well as those that are not publicly listed. As long as you know the Usenet group name, you can enter it manually and Atomic Newsgroup Explorer will find it and process it!

Stop wasting precious time manually researching contact information for experts! Start a new age of exploration today with Atomic Newsgroup Explorer!

Rick Truell Hummm. Although I'm glad for the price deals I've gotten or will get from BdJ (like Boxer Text Editor on Wednesday), it gives me pause to see that BdJ is also offering a deal on software for
spammers (Atomic Newsgroup Explorer from AtomPark Software on the 17th). In fact, there's a bit of irony involved. Checking AtomPark Software's website (http://www.massmailsoftware.com/), one
sees that, while not the program about to be offered on BdJ, another program they sell is Email Extractor, which is used to harvest e-mail addresses from web sites...something that one of
Tuesday's deals, Web Form SPAM Protection, was written to prevent!

Spam is an insidious problem on the Internet, and getting worse every day...BdJ shouldn't be making it easier for Spammers by offering a price deal on one of the tools they can use. I urge BdJ
to reconsider offering Atomic Newsgroup Explorer as a deal on the 17th. In fact, I further urge BdJ to carefully consider *any* of the programs from AtomPark Software before offering a price
deal on them...while some of them have legitimate, non-Spamming uses, the majority of them are simply tools for use by Spammers.

Van Swofford I too was a little surprised at this one. The first thing that went through my mind was that the only use I can conceive for this software is for spammers. I think I'll pass this one by.

Evgeny Medvednikov Rick, if you think it's a tool for spammer, you may simply igmore it.

We have thousands of satisfied customers who use our software absolutely legally for the marketing purposes.

Data extracting software can be used to extract conacts from Outlook to send out an urgent newsletter about important changes in your company/product/service (it's not spam because it's a mailing to your CUSTOMERS, it's opt-in).

Exracting contacts from sites/news is also have many legitimate deals, such as managing your own private newsgroups, web forums, blogs, etc. Some internet service prohibit downloading data from blogs/forums/news, so webmaster have the only solution to use data collecting software.

I agree that some people may use our software for illegal purposes, but most of our customers use it absolutely legally. We are in touch with many of them and understand their business needs.

fran harter Can this application extract any other data from newsgroups, beside names/email addresses?

Or are there plans to add additional search/extraction features?

It would seem that if it could extract other fields inside newgroups then it could be used for "data mining "newsgroups for specific topics and specific words within newsgroup discussions..

I'm just wondering about the business intelligence uses it might be able to provide.

Evgeny Medvednikov Currently, ANE extracts only e-mail addresses. In the nearest future we will add an option to extract all other data too (phones, faxes, addresses from signatures, etc).
