When you need to quickly jot down some information, what do you do? Reach for a sticky note, or a piece of scrap paper? And what do you do when that piece of paper ends up lost? If you've been thinking that there's no easy way to use a computer for quick note-taking, you're mistaken! Just check out today's discount software promotion, CintaNotes!

CintaNotes lets you quickly save and tag any bits of useful information, just by selecting text and pressing a hotkey. With CintaNotes, you'll never have to worry about losing bits of paper - every note you take is saved, along with the URL of the site that you clipped it from. Best of all, CintaNotes works with any application that can copy text to the clipboard!

When it's time to look up that piece of info, CintaNotes is on the case, bringing up matching results in real-time as you type! You can even search by title, URL, or any combination of tags. The tags can be organized into a tree, making the tagging system extremely powerful. And with tabbed sections it's easy to keep unrelated notes separate, while color-coding of notes helps in organization even further.

If you use online cloud services like Simplenote or Dropbox, you can sync your notes across multiple devices. With Simplenote you will have complete access to your notes on your mobile device, and not just for searching and reading, but also for writing! However if you're not that much into cloud syncing, CintaNotes works in offline mode as well. Small and powerful, CintaNotes can run completely self-contained off of a USB flash drive.

    CintaNotes PRO also supports:
  • - File and image attachements in notes
  • - Linking notes with each other
  • - Full notebook encryption and password protection
  • - Autotagging rules

This promotion includes the following:
CintaNotes PRO License - 1 year upgrades v3.13 ($19.50)
CintaNotes PRO License - Lifetime upgrades v3.13 ($89.25)

MojoMan Thought about the lifetime option until I saw the price. Seems a bit pricey at almost 5 times the single year option for a note taking program when I already have several. Always looking for a few features that nobody seems to have.

I'll probably go with 1 year upgrade license and then update in a couple years if there are new features that make it worthwhile.

I do have a question about the inclusion of files. Are files simply attached as a link, or can you store a file within CN? I assume probably just the former. Does CN have any native file viewing capabilties?

Rob Hi MojoMan, regarding file attachments, saw this on the website;
__________

File Attachments
The main point is simple: now you can attach files to notes, and even sync them between your computers.
The files are stored in the compressed form in the notebook itself. Make sure you check this video out to learn how it works.

MojoMan Thanks Rob. I visited the site to see what I coud find out but didn't watch the video... I missed and looked at the feature list but it didn't give much detail. I'll check out video.

I bought an old version some years back and at that time it was a very simple note taking app. It's changed a lot from what I see. Worth another look. Also interested in the answer to your question.

Thanks.

S User @Mojoman : Can you stop calling this a 'note taking' app? With 30+ years of experience as a high-end IT engineer, this makes my heart bleed. Making a text bold or italic is still under a menu in CintaNotes in 2020?!! Color text? Never heard of it. It's unheard of - 2020! This is *not* a Note App ...

MojoMan Sorry if you are offfended, but that is what I use apps such as these for.

You may use it as a programming tool for code snippetw but that's not the use I have for such apps at all. It's not a database, it's not a substitute for OneNote, it's not a document manager, it's not a clip keeper per say. The tile CintaNotes pretty much sums it up. It's for taking notes and keeping memos, docs, reminders, misc data and even organized data but it's not really in any other category.

I've used dozens... OneNote is the most powerful and provides a true notebook paradigm with multiple sections, pages, subpages, create and store documents and notes.... but it is overkill for a quick pop-up reminder and it has a lot of quirks that make it less than ideal. I could go on, but I've yet to find a program on the upper end to be a great organizational tool for keepng notebooks of documents, webpages, scaned docs, etc., and I've yet to find a quick and easy program that has features I want (even in a quiick lightweight note/info organizer. My quest continues.

Adolphe Cinta Notes used to be very good, it still is, but it's definitely lagging behind, and development seems to have stopped.

Looking back, there were times where we had several important updates in a single year. Now there's only one once a year, with one or two very minor feature enhancements.

Where is the major overhaul which was announced long ago ?

Having a look at the roadmap on the website, one can see there are basic, important features which were requested, and planned, 10 years ago.

bvssunnydale It's actually good and useful. I'm experimenting with it as quasi-Zettelkasten. It is sadly true that development is almost non-existent but it's very stable and, as a notetaking app, links, tagging (including auto-tagging), PDF inclusion/indexing, all work very well. Long in the tooth though, but reliable - to anyone obsessed, or merely interested in, info-management apps, OutlinerSoftware is the best site I've seen.

MojoMan I like a lot of the features, but am not happy to hear it is basically an abandoned app. That makes the lifetime license issue final for me.

It does look like it would make a good lightweight note app to quickly clip and organize info without a lot of hassle. I've wasted $ 20 before on things that turned out to be not as useful, but I can see $ 20 of value here.

If anyone knows of anything similar please advise, as I've been searching for an app like OneNote that will handle pdf's natively and have the organizational ability of ON. OneNote is just a few features shy of fantastic... but they are dealbreakers.
