_*_ @Paragon Software, I saw your response to Gde Swart about deals offered if one signs up for the Newsletter.

I went to do so, and found you require the individuals First and Last Name, Country, State, as well as email address.

Why so intrusive to sign up for a simple Newsletter? Why not ask simply for the email address?

For me the cost is too high for a little savings.

Lito @_*_ : I agree it's a bit ridiculous to have to ask for your first, last, state and country to sign up for a email list. Still why not just give them your email then use fake data for the rest? It's what a good portion of people do. I have done that for practically every forum or email list I have signed up for.

Stefan Hauber After a crash of Win10 x64 - HDMSuite has nothing to do with that! - and the restore of the windows-partition (with a formerly created backup), I could not start Win10: The bootmanager is missing.

Can HDMSuite help in this case? (Win10's Rescue-CD can't.)

How can I avoid something like this to happen in the future after a successfull reinstallation of Win10?

Lito I have used the pro version of this program for 2 days now and I find it a really good program. I have not used any of the "pro" features so far, but right now I can mention the backup option. Overall this is a very good backup program I like it a lot so far. It provides imaging of the HDD along with incremental updates. It also has the ability to create either a linux or win PE based recovery environment. And testing I have done so far has gone well.

The creation of a Win PE based was a bit more complicated as I do not have a WIM file on my PC since I build my own machines. So it required downloading the ADK from MS before I could use that option. The linux version of the recovery media was so much faster and easier to create. It just worked. Still though if you want the WinPE recovery media it'll cost an additional about 6GB more to download and install.

The only real issue I have with this program is email notification. It doesn't work except for non secure connections. If your email host requires you to use SSL/TLS to login you cannot use the email notification option because this program doesn't support it. Unencrypted email works with no issues, but who really wants to use that these days with all the hackers out there. Sending your email login/password in plain text is just a bad idea. At the moment it's about my only real complaint as I like to have email notifications especially if I want to use this program as my main daily backup program.

Clive Richards @Stefan - for the future what I do is this. First I have my Win 10 system and data on different discs. The system disc has just windows 10 and programmes on it.
I make a system image back up of this using another back up solution and then run an automatic daily differential back up. With the start up disc, the programme created in the first place, I can restore my system to the previous day, or any other day in less than an hour - make sure you have two copies of the start up disc as like all media they can be corrupted over time. The first time you back up perform an image restore to test it.

My data is also backed up daily to an external disk drive and about once a month I perform partition back ups to another external hard drive - which I leave disconnected so that it would be unaffected should ransomware seize my files

Stefan Hauber @Clive - Good strategy. Unfortunately I have a laptop without second drive...

I asked here, because this kind of information about HDM15 Suite might have been useful for other users too.

Perhaps Paragon can say something about that anyway (or offer a link to this theme/issue), even if promotion-time is over. The conversations are also visible afterwards
