Spratts Pride 2 things i dont understand

1. it says " After you make a purchase of this BitsDuJour discount promotion, NoTracks may be used for 12 months "

But its also says " Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for the lifetime of the product.

Is this a one of payment or is it just for 12 months ?

2. its says " NoTracks is licensed per computer, and not per user. "

and " Each license allows installation on 3 computers, but NoTracks may not be used at exactly the same time on each of them. "

So is this for 1 computer or 3 computers?

Paul Davies This is not correct, they can purchase a license at any time after installation. The info is also incorrect, they get a free 7 day license and after that they must either purchase a license or the software will stop working.

Yes they purchase a 12 month license and at any time they get free updates, but obviously after their license has expired free updates are irrelevant.

NoTrack license is for 12 months and the license can be used on up to 3 computers owned by the licensee. They CAN be used at the same time

Hope this clears things up.

Tony Simpson 1. Regarding the license what does it cost to renew it every 12 months $19.95, I assume, or at any future cost you decide ?

Regretably, I have bought software in the past only to find out later it has an undeclared annual renewal fee and as a result I stopped using it.

2. If this software requires to access your database in order to know which sites to block from adware and malware then I assume the software must be sending data back to you as part of it's learning process about the threats people are experiencing as they browse.

Is this correct ?

This is simply untrue. As you need to request the website from the server there will /always/ be an entry in the servers log containing at least your (public/external/proxy) IP and the requested site (information that neither can be suppressed nor falsified).
It is harder to track personal information but for instance tracking of ones movement on the site is still trackable and reproducible.

Besides that not a bad product (though your 7 days trial turns out to be a 3.31 day trial ("3.31 license days left"), especially if you do not use Firefox with its various addons.

Paul Davies Yes Tony, the license is for 1 year it then has to be renewed.

The software on startup checks with our servers and receives an exclusion list which it uses. It does not obtain information from you the user. The only check that is does is to validate the license.

Sorry, at this time the product is only available for Windows based PC's

The information on site logs is almost unusable, that is why they use cookies and other forms of information harvesting, it is these other forms that we block. Also the biggest danger is the add networks that group the information about you from many 1,000's of sites and build up a big picture about you, this is blocked with NoTracks

Paul Davies I am afraid AJ lives in a world of his own, American sites are, by far, the worse, just about EVERY US site track its visitors and the biggest ad networks are all American.

You will see this if you try the free trail as you will see with a popup (if you want) everytime a site is blocked.

Waynos donstan @ Paul Davies Thank you for the quick response from support to upgrade my trial to seven days.I took a privacy test at another site and found that no tracks didn't block any more than fire fox add ons and disabled geolocation but what I did like and the reason I will purchase is the firewall type approach which blocks ad supported app's from within your system without having to make firewall rules, once they're in FF will not block outgoing conections. Similar programs are $30.00 for a lifetime, no limit, do loyal customers get a discount for next year ? and also is a dual boot system one license or two, a good product, thanks.
