Colin McAllister Hi.
How much commonality is there between OSes?
a) If I boot into Win7 then into Vista later, will the docs I save in My Documents in Win 7 be accessible in Vista?
b) If MS updates are applied to WIn 7 (e.g. anti-virus signatures) when I logon to Vista, will I be asked to update again?
c) Ditto Q(b) for the case where one of the OSes is a virtual drive.

Thanks.

Paragon Software Migration to new PC is done via another tool of Paragon: Drive Backup 9.0 Professional Edition + Adaptive Restore free add-on. Soon it will be replaced with Drive Backup 10 Professional Edition where Add-on features are included.
The add-on makes necessary changes to OS so it could boot from new hardware.

Paragon Software Frankly speaking both OSs are similar and some ppl calls Win 7 as Vista SP2. But if you save documents in Vista and try to access them in Vista directory then it could ask permission rights.
Same for updates. Updates for Windows 7 are not applied to Vista. Updates for Vista should be applied separately.

Peter Martens @Joseph. It just moves everything from your old system to your new system, also passwords. But you have to use a virtualization software then.

Upgrade Utilities really helped me out after I bought the new (and amazing) W7. Didn't want to set up everything again, so now I use my old Win XP "in a box". It's pretty cool and everything works fine just like before.

R G Is it just me, or do anyone else find it dodgy that a Paragon developer thanks BDJ for this deal?

Undercover marketing gone wrong?

Paragon Software RG: I am assisting with answers to possible questions. I was asked to provide this assistance for possible urgent questions. So no undercover marketing. Just support and nothing more.
Thanks.

Apologies, occasionally our comment system and attributes the wrong comment to the wrong person. Or the wrong comment to the wrong review.

We've gotten it under control for the most part, but ever so often...

Best!

Colin McAllister Hi.
I just purchased and downloaded this, but can't get Win 7 installed.
My PC has four partitions
* 63MB (EISA configuration* Recovery 2GB NTFS
* OS C 229BG NTFS and
" GB unallocated

I need at least 10GB to install Win 7, but when I use this program it halts stating "This disk already contains four primary partitions. Basic hard disks can contain only four partitions, including extended one"

Can you advise please?

Andy Kemper Colin MCAllister,

Learn about virtual machines and virtual hard drives. Imagine running several independent operating systems seperately or all at once on your computer without having reboot to switch between them. Search for VMware or MS Virtual PC 2007. This will get you started down the right path.

Tom Colvin I have already given my credit card number to purchase this software and received an acknowledgment.

NOW I'M TRYING TO DOWNLOAD THE SOFTWARE -- but I am directed to a page that seems to allow only purchase of the software at $29.95. The only downloads I see are for 3 different manuals.

How do I download this so that the Bits du Jour discount will be effective? BTW, there's only an hour left to purchase & download the software.

Tom Colvin Just got my sales confirmation -- and it had the download link in it. I'm downloading it now.

I do not plan to install this program for several months, as I do not play to install Win 7 until next Spring. I presume installing it 4-5 months from now will not be a problem as long as I have the registration code.
