Hi Gary, great question, thank you! No, absolutely not. Those two programs are totally different.
PhotoWorks has an innovative engine that enables the user to fix exposure issues, white balance, temperature of the shot, lens distortions and other common problems. The retouching module is very powerful - for example, there's the Healing Brush that automatically finds the pixels to work with when you want to conceal some defect. There's a histogram that helps you see the problems and control the editing process. All your edits are non-destructive, and you can return to any of the previous stages while keeping other edits. PhotoWorks is very much like Adobe Lightroom, but it's not so heavy and demanding, and the interface is a lot easier to understand even for an amateur photographer. There's plenty of one-click filters, too.

As for Home Photo Studio, it allows you to do most of the basic photo editing, but it's not so advanced as PhotoWorks. However, it has tons of tools and resources for graphic design (photo montage, picture frames, hoiiday card templates, masks etc.) It's more like Adobe Photoshop for the very beginners :)

Frank Christensen Just a "heads up" that the offer is for the Pro version, but after installation & purchase the "Pro" never shows anywhere even after restarting the program as directed. Seems to be a good program, nice step up from paint.net.

Regarding the window title that don't say Pro - you don't need to worry about that. For some reason, our programmers don't change the window title depending on the type of license activated (but I'll forward your request to do so). However, you can simply make sure that you can access all tools in all sections (some tools are not available in other versions, and the software would invite you to upgrade to PRO in order to access them). If none are closed, then you can be sure that you're using the PRO.

Robert Bull In an earlier answer, you say PhotoWorks is like Lightroom. You mean Lightroom's image enhancement features - not its organizational ones? This isn't a criticism, as I've met people who liked the former but hated the latter.

I don't like hardware-footprint licenses, though yours is a bit better than most with seven installs.

Gary Smith In the Fine Print, the statement: "For versions after that, upgrades will require additional payment, which will be discounted." dies not specify what that discount rate will be. Most software providers to BitsDuJour provide that information to encourage purchasers, and to ensure their purchase will be respected.

Surely you have a business model in place that includes a discount percent. Can you tell us what percentage discount you will have?

Good point! Yes, you are right, I meant the enhancement functionality only. With PhotoWorks, you don't have to register an account to get started if this is what you mean by organizational features. You just download the software, enter your iicense key and start working. (Let me know if I got you wrong)

Robert Bull I bought a license on an earlier Bits offer. I do very little editing, but when I do, this is what I reach for. Seems to work well, and be easy enough to use for my simple needs. It runs happily on my old Vista laptop, whereas Photoshop Elements keeps crashing. It's outstanding value at this price. I would like a proper CHM-type Help file, though, and maybe a bit more detail about how to do things, to support relative novices like me.

Lonny User I love this photo editor but I have a small problem. unless I do not see it. I have to watermark my picture before saving it. so that is a problem because my pictures are different sizes. if I watermark them before I can resize that means that my watermark are going to be different sizes on the pictures. should be able to resize before the watermark so that my watermark will be the same size, not a huge problem but it is a little more work to fix it like save the picture the size I want it & upload it again to watermark.

RC Was ready to purchase this, then clicked on "The Fine Print" and saw that "PhotoWorks PRO is licensed per computer, and not per user." Still an attractive price, and even buying two licenses of PhotoWorks Pro is cheaper than some other photo editors, but I'll pass.

Note: The "per computer" terms should be stated clearly on the PhotoWorks website but I could not find it (if I missed it please correct me). At least Bitsdujour provided the clarification that the developer does not provide.

Kelly Hamblin Just wanted to jump in and say that I am a total idiot when it comes to photo software. I just cleaned up a picture of my husband, and made it look ten times better than it did before. I also just grabbed this deal.

P.S. I had trouble activating the application. I tried once but it opens without my information showing anywhere so I tried again. Now I'm wondering if I've already used up two of my limited activations?

Thank you for your purchase! PhotoWorks doesn't store and display any of your personal details when activated. If you can save or print edited pictures with no watermark on them, it means that you've activated it successfully. Don't worry about the activations limit. If you use up all of them due to technical problems, you can contact tech support and ask them add some more - supposed that you don't do that every week of course:)

No batch processing in the current version I'm afraid, maybe in the future. But in the coming update (due next week) it will be possible to display all the photos in your current folder: http://prntscr.com/qu09or - this should make your work faster.

I bought the program "PhotoWorks PRO" as offered here via PayPro Global. The invoice of PayPro Global confirmed that I had acquired the PRO-version. The download mediated by PayPro Global, however, contained the cheapest version of "PhotoWorks". Of course, the program than installed was the cheapest version. In the end, thanks to BitsDuJour, I paid more for this version than I would have paid via direct ordering from the cheating website.

I expect BitsDuJour will rectify this dishonest deal. I prefer to get cancelled the purchase. A soon answer should be obvious.

Regarding the window title that don't say Pro - you don't need to worry about that. The window title doesn't change depending on the type of license activated. However, you can simply make sure that you can access the PRO version tools, such as Change Background (it's not available in other versions, and the software would invite you to upgrade to PRO in order to access it). If you can access Change Background, then you can be sure that you're using the PRO.

I suppose the programmers are just too busy with other things such as developing new features, and minor things like window title are low priority tasks. - Face Sculpt tool for changing facial features
- Remove under-eye circles with one click

Nigel Brewster If anyone is going to buy of AMS, be prepared for some very strange practices. It says lifetime on their software, but you won't be able to use the programs after a year unless you want hassle. Please upgrade and won't allow the program to run???
Then they change the licence for it, why doesn't the damn licences just work for a lifetime. Then you get the server issues they have, really not worth it, pity because they have good software, but crazy ideas of updates and licences.

Pavel User AMS software is tradicionally very good. Some questions for developer:
What is upgrade policy after one year? What is prize (how much discounted)?
Do You think about more languages (in my case Czech)?
What are the big advantages of your PhotoWorks Ultimate v. 9.15 over the competition (e.g. Affinity Photo v. 1.9 etc.)? Simplicity and/or…?

- PhotoWorks Ultimate is a lifetime license, and you get free upgrades during the first year. After a year, you can renew your upgrades subscription for another year - the current upgrade cost is $57. Or you can just stick to the purchased version until there is some really exciting upgrade. We normally release 3 to 4 major upgrades a year. (Right now, we're working on batch processing for our next upgrade).

- Sure, we're adding new languages - added Polish recently. I'm pretty sure we'll add Czech, too.

- Regarding the competitive advantages of PhotoWorks, the first one is obviously its clear and intuitive interface, self-explanatory tools perfect for those who are just starting to master photo editing. At the same time, there are enough tools for taking your skills a level up - the histogram, tone curves, radial & graduated filters, lens distortion correction etc.
Our portrait retouching module is really worth mentioning - it uses a neural network to detect faces in your photo, and then you just pick a preset or drag a slider to edit the chosen face: smooth skin, get rid of glare, remove eye circles, whiten teeth etc. The edits are careful and subtle and the result looks natural. If you do lots of portrait shots, it'll save you a lot of time for sure.
And one more thing - PhotoWorks doesn't require huge processing power. We put a lot of effort into making it work stable on any machine. If you have high-end hardware, PhotoWorks will enable GPU acceleration, while on older computers, it will run happily in CPU mode - could be a deal breaker for some people I suppose.

And I can say that for example Your portrait or body retouching modules are very interesting. I have Photo Works Pro 10 and I uninstalled it but Ultimate looks to be the same as Pro.

The main difference is the license type: Ultimate is a lifetime license, while PRO is an annual subscription. You can check it in your order details. If you previously ordered the PRO subscription and then upgraded to Ultimate, make sure to disable subscription renewal. Please contact our customer support if you need help with that.

DH007 Hi, what is the relation of PhotoWorks to ????MACTE? as seen at https://photo-master.com. It is a Russian software with Russian gui and costs 1500 RBL which is 10 USD. To pay 20 or 100 USD for English interface seems to me peculiar and overpriced.

Brenda Adams when installing, program shows default checked option: send system information (something like that).
I unchecked that box. What is that about? Thank you.
