Remember those days when your Documents folder was filled up with Word and WordPerfect files? One glance now, and you're faced with a sea of PDF documents -- and just because the entire universe has changed over to using this handy universal document format, it doesn't mean that your old editing needs have changed. That's why Quick PDF Tools Pro is going to make your life so much easier, starting right now!

Quick PDF Tools Pro makes working with PDF files extremely easy, and even lets you launch the program from an intuitive right-click menu in Windows Explorer. With Quick PDF Tools Pro, you'll be able to preview any PDF in seconds. Have you been searching for a way to split and merge PDF files? Quick PDF Tools Pro is your answer! Plus, you can crop and rotate pages, extract form field data, edit Javascript, plus convert any PDF file to plain text to satisfy all of your copying and pasting needs. Edit document properties such as Title, Author, Subject, and Keywords, or make changes to the PDF layout. You can even protect your PDFs with passwords, all with Quick PDF Tools Pro!

Bonuses, and there are many, include the ability to convert images to PDF and vice-versa, plus bookmark sorcery that lets you extract bookmarks from any PDF into a text file, or remove them completely from the PDF (along with annotations and sticky notes). No more font guessing, either, since Quick PDF Tools Pro gives you an easy way to view the fonts in a document!

FYI folks, please note that Quick PDF Tools Pro is in the process of being re-branded as Debenu PDF Tools Pro. Same great software either way, but it'll take a few weeks before all of the naming is consistent. Enjoy!

Cheryl Rutherford How does this differ from PDF Tools, a freeware app at http://www.sheelapps.com/?

Debenu Hi Cheryl,

Debenu PDF Tools Pro (formerly known as Quick PDF Tools Pro) is integrated with the context-menu in Windows Explorer, so to use it all you need to do is right-click on a PDF and select 'Quick PDF Tools Pro' from the context-menu and you'll see all the options to manipulate the selected PDF.

This makes manipulating PDFs much quicker because you just need to point your cursor at the PDF and get started processing it.

Cheers,
- Rowan.

Cheryl Rutherford Well, that sounds a LOT better than opening up an entire program using more memory. Thanks for the speedy response! I will try the trial. Since I am a Writer who converts my documents to PDF on a daily basis, this sounds like a step saver.

Do you have any plans to add a feature that would convert a PDF to EXE, in case someone does not have Adobe installed?

Debenu We don't currently have plans to do a PDF to EXE option -- however, this wouldn't be very hard for us to do, if the purpose is just so that you can have the pages in the PDF display when the EXE is double-clicked on?

PDF Tools Pro actually includes a PDF preview option as well, and that doesn't require Adobe Reader, so that might interest you as well.

Cheers!

Nuno If we could distribute the .exe files to other people that don't use this software, I think this was what Cheryl meant, then I would buy it as well.
It would help send our books or reports to people that don't have a pdf reader.

Cheers!

VLM If I understand correctly, this tool does not have facilities for editing the content of the PDF itself, is this correct?

Cheryl Rutherford Yes, the EXE conversion would make the PDF document a proprietary STANDALONE file and it could not be changed, as some PDFs can be. The EXE (single file) would prevent that.

I have software called "HTML to EXE" that I bought in 2008 when I was developing web sites and wanted to show a client the entire site before it was transferred to the Internet. The entire example website was compiled into a standalone EXE file (portable), so I'd like the same with the PDFs. So, if this is a future feature, I would definitely be interested....maybe call it the DEVELOPER'S version ;-))

Debenu Hi VLM,

That is correct -- PDF Tools Pro won't let you edit the page content of a PDF. It focuses on manipulating PDFs in ways that don't require opening and viewing the PDF. So editing document properties, rotating pages, splitting, merging, security and so on.

For actual page content editing you would need something like Adobe Acrobat, Nitro PDF or a similar content editing tool.

Cheers,
- Rowan.

Richard Paris Hi. Installed the trial version on my Windows 7 x64 system and it caused Directory Opus 10 to stop working with right-click context menus. So unfortunately not much use to me unless there is a Quick tools fix to allow it work with DOpus.

Max Frenkel I still have not got an answer to my question some days ago about the difference to PDF-Tools 4 in PDF-XChange 4 Pro where you can crop files, but only by overlaying the parts you don't want to see. So the resulting file is not much smaller than the original one.

Debenu Hi Max,

Sorry that we haven't answered your question earlier -- where did you send it to?

With regards to cropping PDFs, PDF Tools Pro works the same way as PDF XChange Pro.

A PDF has a CropBox and a MediaBox. Generally speaking the page size is determined by the values of the MediaBox, but if the CropBox also has values, then the values of the CropBox are used to determine the dimensions of the visible page for displaying the PDF or printing the PDF.

So really the word 'crop' has a special purpose in PDF which can be confusing because in other technologies cropping a page would indicate that the physical size of the page is being cut.

So in short: adding page re-sizing / actual cropping is on our feature wishlist and we hope to add it in the future, but it's not currently a feature.

Cheers,
- Rowan.

Debenu Hi Richard,

Sorry to hear of the issue you experienced. I will download Directory Opus 10 and see if I can replicate the issue.

Cheers,

Eric Dear Rowan,

"The Conversation" here ends about EIGHT years ago, on June 2012.

At your own Web page, despite stating that the software "is regularly updated with new features", the most recent version was released in 2015, obviously pre-dating Win10 (it is also suggested that the software is compatible up to Win8).

Does this mean that PDF Tools Pro's development has been stopped? Is it, by a stroke of luck, Win10 compatible?

Has the Directory Opus (currently at version 12.21) issue been solved?

Thanks in advance for an enlightening reply,

All the best,

Eric
