If you’re the administrator of a large network, or even a mid-sized one, you know that it’s impossible to keep track of everything that’s happening on your LAN with just your eyeballs. That’s why you need to incorporate a little bit of technology into the mix, which is precisely what today’s discount software promotion, SMTPing, is all about!

SMTPing keeps you informed about the status of all nodes on your LAN, displaying them all visually on your screen. With SMTPing, you’ll be able to monitor PCs, multi-function centers, and even mobile devices – anything that’s a node on your network! At a glance, see which nodes are working properly and which are down for some reason. You also get to customize SMTPing with your own captions, custom colors, and chart dimensions.

SMTPing starts with a basic template that can show 38 groups of up to 5 nodes each, all without needing to zoom out. Need info on any node? Just click on it and SMTPing will show you how many failures have happened at that node over a specified period of time. It really is the fastest and easiest way to identify failing network components!

Please note folks: SMTPing has now extension support. You can read more about it here.

Petr Hi, Good timing! I need a monitor for several WordPress websites where the Linux server stays up, but the website goes down due to database problems. My requirement is to have a monitor that can test for the website being up?

Can your SMTPing test to see if the website is operational?

Alejandro Caballero Petr ~ Yes, you can monitor at port level without having to install SNMP.
Try it! Just remember: you may get A LOT of annoying warnings if you install it on a standard PC with high security level, specially because SMTPing uses software pieces that are mostly flagged as malware (Apache, PHP, etc.)

On another story: you're right on time... I made my own solution to wordpress multi-author blogs (not multisite) for the same reason: database overload and unneeded waste of ram. Will publish it within the next days ;)

Alejandro Caballero @Mario: it is possible that something is blocking the port. If you're running on a highly secured environment (kicky antivirus, firewall, UAC at high level, etc.) SMTPing will fail. You need to check your software security settings or run SMTPing on a less secure VM. If you need assistance please send an email to support@lavasoftworks.com and we'll help you there.
