What are people saying about 1AVCenter

Rich Lang In trying to capture just parts of my company's on-line video. I do see I can customize the screen size and quality. Nice. However, I do not seem to be able to pause the recording more than once or twice. Nothing more happens. In other words, I have a 15 minute video that I am trying to cut down to 6 minutes for an email. I need about 8 recording pauses until the live portion is where I want to start recoding again. That doesn't seem to be working. I assume it is something on my end but want to make sure before I purchase. Any suggestions?

Alex Ferri After trying to reproduce what happens on your computer I was not able to create a similar behavior. It works fine in here. What I can promise you is that if this is indeed a problem within the software I will have it solved for the next release. I would like you to exchange e-mails with me until I can figure out what is happening on your end. Please reply directly to the e-mail I have provided on this comment.

Rich Lang Alex, I did not see your email listed in the post. I have not been successful in capturing a video w/audio if I am employing "pause" to edit out parts of the the original. I have tried numerous frame rates and download speeds. The total recording is only to the first pause.
Thanks. PS: Hopefully you will extend the price until we have looked into this.

Alex Ferri If you can see video from this camera on your desktop then yes, 1AVCenter can capture it.
Bron Faison I notice you use on-line activation, I move software around from one computer to another fairly frequently (using it only on one PC at any given time). Will this be a problem?

To be clear, I uninstall the software from computer A and install on new computer B. This is allowed by most licenses. It's important to me, because I have a lot of different PC's and laptops and put sw on any given machine according to what I'm working on at the time.

Will this be a hassle or very easy? I can not risk the sw suddenly not working when I need it due to some activation issue. Also, I will put on laptop when traveling, any issues with that?

Thanks!

Alex Ferri The procedure you have mentioned is allowed. So, no, it won't be a problem. And if you run into any kind of problem with your license or otherwise you can contact me.

Aug 3 2010 at 2:47am Copy Link

Alex Ferri Not within the program, you can't, but if you go to 1AVCenter help menu > auxiliary downloads > Windows Media Encoder > download and install it, then you will be able to record WMV files of your desktop and use the tool 'Windows Media > Utilities > Media file editor' to make the cuts. The same works for audio.
Louis H I want to also highly recommend 1AVCenter. It has become my first choice for recording various video segments from my desktop. I have a number of programs that produce changing graphical backgrounds and 1AVCenter has never failed to capture these with the result being fully usable for my needs. (I have captured flyovers from Google Earth, clips from old movies using a number of different players, fluid changing backgrounds from screensavers, and an assortment of other video segments.) I have not yet come across anything that it cannot record if I can play it on my desktop. And Alex has consistently been quick to respond, very courteous, and very helpful in resolving any issues I had in the past. (And those came down to being errors on my part - i.e., not taking time to fully understand how to set the parameters I was needing in the output file produced by 1AVCenter.)

Please consider giving this one a test run.

Tazzie @ Alex ... I am running behind today, and apologize for the late post. I like to do experimental work in graphics programs, and it can be a hassle to try to remember to write down steps I take in case I hit on a good sequence.  I have been thinking I need something that can record visually a whole sequence, no matter how long.  Is this something that 1AVCenter could do?  Thanks!!!
Aug 4 2010 at 3:05pm Copy Link

Alex Ferri Yes, you can set 1AVCenter to record at 1 frame per second and have it record 24 hours or a week or more. You can also have 1AVCenter take pictures every 30 seconds, or 5 minutes, or 30 minutes, and then use a simple editor to compile the images into an AVI file.

Alex Ferri No. 1AVCenter does not run under Linux.
VLM Hi Alex,

I've read all the comments from the last sale, and I've looked at your website a bit. Here are a couple of questions for you:

1. Do I understand correctly that 1AVCenter can capture both from incoming audio and/or video streams AND from the screen ... in a sense, 2 products in one?

2. Can 1AVCapture separate the audio from the video in an incoming stream?

3. Can 1AVCapture capture sound from audio devices (microphones, for example)? Web cam input+mic?

4. Portable version?

5. Does 1AVCenter incorporate the feature set of Family ScreenCamera? How is that product different?

6. Is there a list of audio/video streaming formats 1AVCenter can capture? Likewise, is there a list of output formats it offers/supports?

6.1 Does the program provide any sort of conversion capability between formats?

7. Is there a manual to download?

8. Is the current version 2.3.1.20?

9. Is the current version ready for Windows 8? If not, how do you plan to handle that?

10. BDJ Policy states that purchase includes 1 year of support, 2 years of updates and upgrades. Does this mean that after 1 year, you won't respond to questions anymore?

I appreciate the several strong endorsements people here have given to this product. Still, I think your Features page is a bit lean. After reading it, I don't really know very much about this product. Just feedback. :)

Alex Ferri Answering the questions:

1. Yes

2. You can choose to record audio, or video + audio, or video alone

3. Yes

4. No

5. ScreenCamera is a virtual camera different from 1AVCenter in the sense that it can be opened by thirty party aspplications and websites because it is a camera to the Windows system.

6. The product comes with a full user guide reachable by pressing F1. There's also the online version but they are the same content.

7. Yes

8. Yes

9. No, support is always available.

If you have any more question feel free to ask them.
VLM Hi Alex,

I have a different sort of question, and I apologize in advance for whatever ignorance on my part this question reveals.

Many video capture products advertise that they support X number of sites, usually beginning with YouTube. That's nice, I suppose, but what I really seek is a tool that will enable me to capture ANY incoming stream or ANY audio and/or video event that occurs on my system.

Does 1AVCenter provide these capabilities? (Please feel free to elaborate a bit in your response ... I feel I'm not knowledgeable enough even to articulate this question very well. :):)

Alex Ferri As to broadcast and monitoring: 1AVCenter can broadcast in MMS format with the click of a button and it offers code to be embedded on webpages so that the video can be watched. As to monitoring: 1AVCenter publishes a secure website where users can check from anywhere live footage and images captured by the motion sensor.

The formats 1AVCenter outputs are AVI using any codec available, and WMV with full parametrization and ability to create and edit your own WMV output profiles.

The program dos not convert between formats,

The link to the user manual on-line is:

VLM Will 1AVCenter record an Internet radio stream?
Mar 12 2012 at 8:30am Copy Link
0
Alex Ferri Yes, 1AVCenter records Internet radio streams.

The code to embed video can be put on an e-mail or webpage and the content is the video source chosen by the user, desktop, webcam, capture card, etc...

1AVCenter does not broadcast in MPEG-4 but it does record video in MPEG-4.

Audio formats when you chose to record audio can be WAV, WMA, or MP3. 1AVCenter handles audio and video separatedly so when it comes to recording you can choose to record video, video + audio, or audio alone. For video outputs are AVI and WMV, for audio WAV, WMA, and MP3.
VLM The manual is VERY helpful, thank you!

In the features section, under Live Video/Audio Stream Server, you state "Maximum audience - Configure the maximum number of audience members that can connect to your webcast.".

Does this mean that I can broadcast directly onto the Internet from my own computer to a preselected audience? Is there a way to have people log in, or control exercised only by what people who have the link? In other words, if I wish to conduct a small private online seminar and admit only those people who registered for it, can I give them all a special link and PWD, or something like that, to control admission?
Mar 12 2012 at 8:46am Copy Link
0
Alex Ferri Yes, you can broadcast and distribute the link to an audience. The content can be opened by Windows Media Player or you can embed it into a webpage. The content is the actual broadcast. As soon as the user connects he starts receiving the real-time video content, no still images.
Techtoysavvy if you can see or hear it on your PC,
you can capture, record, [...]it with 1AVCenter.

I assume you mean unprotected content.
Can you capture content protected using screen capture protection enabled on the graphics card?
Mar 12 2012 at 10:19am Copy Link
0
Alex Ferri You can capture anything that passes on-screen so, yes, you can capture protected content but that is not recommended.
VLM Thanks Alex. Can it also broadcast audio with that video?

BTW, based upon your responses, this product is sounding quite good to me. I thought I should say that, since I'm asking all these questions. :):)
Mar 12 2012 at 1:45pm Copy Link

Alex Ferri Yes, it can broadcast video with audio. It has a wizard where you set your video source, your audio source, and in a few clicks you're broadcasting.

VLM I do teleconferences and webinars, broadcasting from my machine to the world. For the teleconferences, I typically have to use 2 computers to record, as follows:

- One computer records the program as users experience it, my voice, participant questions, slides shown, and the like.

- The second computer records my voice only, using Dragon NaturallySpeaking. This recording is transcribed to text, which I find most useful.

My question is this: Can 1AVCenter pick up the audio stream from the assigned sound card, even as Dragon NaturallySpeaking picks up that same sound stream? Of is that dependent on the sound card (as, ability to support 2 independent, concurrent streams)? Or ... ???
Mar 12 2012 at 9:41pm Copy Link
0
Alex Ferri Answer: Yes, 1AVCenter can pick up the sound stream independently.
VLM Hi Alex, I tried 3 times to submit this as a ticket using your support system, but it failed. So please accept my apology for posting this request here.

During the BDJ sale, I wrote: "I just went to buy your software, and apparently you only take PayPal over the Internet. We do not use electronic payment mechanisms (cards, PayPal, etc.) Would you be willing to accept a US postal money order or cash, sent through the mail?"

I don't recall seeing a response from you, & I felt it is better to pursue here. We are prohibited by ecclesiastical (religious/church) law from using electronic payment systems (plastic cards, PayPal, etc). Many payment processors used during BDJ sales accept money orders, or cash via PayNearMe, etc. In those cases, we are able to participate directly. Otherwise, we ask the author/vendor whether they might accept a postal money order or cash. Hence my request.

Thank you kindly,

You may recall that I asked You about such an purchasable option during the "ScreenCamera.Net" promotion on Bitsdujour.com on the 16th September,

To which - later that day, You replied in part: "... In response to JS: I am giving serious thoughts about offering a lifetime of free upgrades for an additional fee. ..."

J S Hi Alex, that's good news indeed about the L.L - although shame the L.L. wasn't in place for the recent ScreenCamera.Net).
--------------------
Does the Lifetime License option apply using RegNow.com(digital river) or is it only for PayPal?

Why: I prefer RegNow.com(digital river) as i can get license automatically put in the name of my choice (slightly different to name on my Credit Card) and PayPal doesn't allow for buying as a Gift or if the Licensee name is different to what is displayed on the credit card.
--------------------

Please forward me a Lifetime License purchase URL for today's 1AVCenter - hopefully using RegNow (as well as ScreenCamera.Net if the recent promotion discount applies to it)

Many thanks. J S

Ps: Some vendors who promote their goods on Bitsdujour use Google Wallet a.k.a. Google CheckOut and it is very similar to PayPal EXCEPT that it allows the buyer to either: 1. buy as a GiFT or 2. allowing the Buyer to license the goods in a name that is different to their credit card.

Sh Ho Good morning. I am interested in purchasing your product and I have a few questions that I hope you will not mind answering.

What resolution will the on-screen video be captured at? That is, if I am making a video of myself playing a computer game at 720/1080P, will it be captured at that resolution as well? What if I am playing at that resolution in Windowed mode (I'm using Win 7 Pro); will the final resolution be 1:1 with the inputted video (no black bars, etc)? I am of course assuming that I can direct 1AVCenter to do a video screen capture of a selected area of the screen if I so desire.

I did not see an option for a lifetime license on your website; is it available?

Are you aware of any independent review sites that have evaluated your product? If so, can you provide links?

Thank you for your time.

Alex Ferri Response to Sh Ho: Yes, 1AVCenter can record any dimension of video you select with the 'Select Region' tool. Same dialog where you define how many frames per second your video is going to have.

We do have lifetime licenses. They are sold for 60% of the product cost. That will show on the website too.

1AVCenter has many reviews but I guess the most important one is the 5 cows rating from Tucows, highest score of Tucows:

So the lifetime license (LL) is sold for ~$60 US? Can the LL be purchased at any time, or does it have to be purchased at the time of purchasing the product?

Thank you once again.

D Rex I have a USB connected Plantronics DSP-400 Headset that I use for online conferences and presentations. A previous screen recording software I tried was not able to pickup the sound from my DSP-400 headset microphone. If I recall correctly, it did pick up the incoming sound I hear through the headset. Will 1AVCenter record the sound to and from a USB connected DSP headset?

Also, does it support capture from windows on a second monitor using extended desktop?

Thank you.

Alex Ferri Response to D Rex: I suppose 1AVCenter will be able to capture the sound from your Headset.

And no, it only captures and records and monitors the main monitor.

My advice is for you to test it a bit to verify if it works for your purpose.

For multiple monitor recording I commercialize ScreenCamera.Net. If you would like more details on ScreenCamera.Net then send me an e-mail at pr(AT)pcwinsoft(DOT)com.

Vivaldi Regarding paying for the software: The payment page uses Paypal to process the credit card, but it appears it will only do that through a Paypal account. The button on the page appears to require the creation of a Paypal account if you don't already have one. I will not create one, so that isn't an option. However, I do know, because I regularly do another transaction this way, that Paypal will process credit card payments without the cardholder having a Paypal account. Am I missing something on the payment page, or is it not an option here?

Eustace Phenackertiban Sorry, but for $100, or even $20, I expect software that does what it says. My primary use for such software is recording video off the Web. Like most Win7 machines, Stereo Mix is disabled on my machine. This program expects you to purchase and implement a kludgey hardware audio splitter and loopback cable, instead of doing what their competitor, Apowersoft, did and develop a line driver to enable onscreen recording without all the rigamarole. Oh, and at a fraction ($39.95) of the $100 cost of this product. When PCWinSoft decides to do the necessary development work to provide a complete product that does what it claims to do, then I will consider the product.

Alex Ferri That was a temporary phase where Windows decided that Stereo Mix would no more be on audio drivers but that time is over, nowadays Win7 and 8 come with Stereo Mix and if it is Disabled then simply Enable it and make it the default audio device. It was a priority to create this driver but then by connecting to client computers I noticed all of them either Vista, 7 or 8 had the 'Stereo Mix' which made me conclude that Microsoft Windows started with Stereo Mix installed.
Eustace Phenackertiban That may be your experience, Alex, but I am telling you that on MY Toshiba Satellite L755 laptop, running Win7 x64, Stereo Mix is NOT available. Now, if you would like to provide EXPLICIT instructions on how to enable it, I would be more than happy to try to do so, as that would make this deal quite worthwhile. Believe me, I have tried before. It does NOT appear when I check "Show disabled devices" in the Sound dialog's Recording Devices tab. Apparently you are quite aware of this problem, and I don't know why you are denying it, because you provide instructions on your site in how to do the splitter and loopback cable method, and you cover it in the program's Help, in the topic "1AVCenter Help | Trouble recording audio from Media Player or Browser" Why are you now saying that it is not really an issue, when it clearly is?

Alex Ferri Hello,

I found this:
http://stereomixplus.com/

Let me know if it worked so I can include on the download package and include in documentation.
patara Alex, thanks for the discount. I purchased mine a couple of days ago.
On my Win8 Desktop Stereo Mix appeared when I selected Show disabled devices.
Stereo Mix was not available on my Medion 5 year old Laptop running Win8 but I solved the problem easily by doing some research. I saw the driver for audio on my laptop was standard Microsoft and I presumed it would not include Stereo Mix. I had no clue what brand of drivers I could install so searched online for the original Vista ones. On reading the notes I found they were from Realtek. I then did a search for the latest Realtek Audio drivers for Win8. I installed them, rebooted and Bingo! Stereo Mix was in the list and I was able to Enable it.

Alex Ferri Great, thanks.
Patricia Lange Alex, I need something like 1AVCenter in order to capture cable card shows I've recorded with Windows Media Center but which WMC designates as "protected". (Time Warner cable has designated ALL programing all the time as "protected" for cable card customers - we're not talking about premium or pay per view shows and I'm not trying to do anything illegal.)

I'm able to capture and play back with 1AV, but the resulting file can't be imported into my editor of choice (VideoReDo). VRD doesn't accept AVI files at all but is supposed to work with WMV files. My research indicates there are two versions of WMV and VideoReDo only works with the later one. Do you know anything about this? VRD detects the "your" WMV file as an "elementary stream".

My ultimate goal is to convert my captures to the WTV/H264 format. Despite all the negatives associated with Windows Media Center and the WTV package, I find it useful for my purposes because of its metadata capabilities.

Alex Ferri 1AVCenter records to WMV and it has an encoder settings where you set your output as fast and small or big you want. So, my advice to you is run a test today with the trial version to check it out.

You can convert the file after recorded to any existing codecs/encoders with VLC, it is free, it takes sometime to learn, but you can convert from all formats to any format.
Patricia Lange Thank you for your reply, Alex! I wrote my question after I had tested it. In fact, I already have a licensed copy of 1AVCenter on another machine (not the one that does the cable card captures, so I can't use it). I do have other encoders and I figured I could insert third party software between yours and VideoReDo but was hoping for a simpler solution.

You have reminded me that VLC does encoding - I'll have to try that. As far as I know, however, VideoReDo is the only application that converts TO WTV.

Well, there's two things about that. First, it did not appear to work when selected as a source in 1AVCenter. I tried both the "MIDI" and the "Rec. Play" Virtual Audio Streaming Driver. Neither resulted in audio being recorded with screen videos using 1AVCenter.
Second, even had it worked, StereoMixPlus is NOT a free app. It is priced from $30 per machine to $70 for a "family" license. Hardly cost effective, since Apowersoft's Screen Recorder just works, and is only $39.95.
Don't get me wrong. Alex. 1AVCenter is a full-featured, flexible application that does a good deal more than just record from the screen or Webcam. However, for those whose main purpose is to record video from their screen, with synchronized audio, I would strongly advise them to download the trial to see if it will work for them. If they're on a system later than Vista (the last OS which included Stereo Mix universally), the odds are very great that they will be disappointed. Just sayin'... ;-)

_*_ I downloaded the Trial and as soon as I choose to record video from a website the program locks my computer so the program does not work and I have to Ctrl-Alt-Del to get it so I can restart my system.

This has occurred two time in a row thus far.

Alex Ferri When you start recording the screen 1AVCenter is minimized to the system tray and to stop recording you click on 1AVCenter icon on the system tray. Maybe you are thinking the program has locked but it did not.

_*_ @Alex Ferri, no I was not mistaken, my system was clearly locked up. I had to do a hard restart and then the program operated properly.

I want to purchase the program, but I have run into an issue.

I recorded an Amazon Prime movie to test it out and on playback it is very choppy, and has no sound whatsoever.

I chose "Record video from websites and media players to AVI or MWV".

Is there something I am doing wrong?

I want to make this work but it seems I cannot at this stage.
Aug 24 2014 at 11:20am Copy Link

Alex Ferri In order to record movies or shows you must set the frames per second to 25 or 30 and you must select the area of the movie, if the output is choppy change the WMV recording profile, you can edit profiles, so it is a matter of tuning.
In regards to audio you must set 1AVCenter audio device to `Stereo Mix`, make sure `Stereo Mix` is your default audio device, if it is not set it to be the default device.
Let me know if you were able to progress.

Alex Ferri For streaming to twitch.tv or justin.tv or Ustream PCWinSoft offers ScreenCamera which is a screen recorder and a virtual video camera. With 1AVCenter you are able to record the screen.
_*_ @Alex Ferri, I have tried to locate the areas of the program you are referencing but have yet to find where to set frame rates, or select audio device.

Is it normal to have this program take about 20-30 seconds to load the menu each time a menu item is chosen and the window closed in order to go back to the main screen?

I do not get the menu directly; instead I receive a "Wait..." in place of the menu, and a bar in the right hand window area that takes about 20-30 seconds to load each and every time.

I took a screen capture of it.

Norm Sash What would be significant difference between 1AVCenter and other screen recording products such as Camtasia or Snagit that allow capture of any window or area on the screen?
Mar 20 2016 at 6:45am Copy Link

Alex Ferri The main difference is the lower usage of CPU cycles which allow for smooth video recording of motion pictures like YouTube videos or Facebook videos, also 1AVCenter records and takes pictures with the exact size of the selected area so you can capture images like horizontal or vertical banners. As a screen recorder those would be the key features, but 1AVCenter is much more then a screen recorder so that adds value to the product as well.
Cool User I regret the day I downloaded a program from PCWinSoft.
I hate spam mail, and there is not a day without an email from them trying to push a program down my throat.
So, PCWinSoft, please stop doing that.

If it was like once a month, I would tolerate it, but it's very annoying when it is on a daily bases. Obviously it is automated.
I have to finally resort to designating PCWinSoft as a spammer, and now their email goes straight to the spam folder automatically.

Eustace Phenackertiban Does this version finally record System Audio? The last version you offered that I downloaded (v. 2.3.9.70) did not, and when I asked about it here, I was advised to use a loopback cable (from the speaker output to the microphone input[??]). Although I would not wish to do that anyway (I use my mic input for "Dragon Naturally Speaking" speech-to-text software, and my speaker output to an external amplifier and speakers), it's not even an option on my new Inspiron laptop, which has a single port for mic/spkr I/O. Unfortunately, since I had previously installed that trial version 2.3.9.70, when I downloaded this offering to try to test it to see if it records System Audio, I was told that my trial has expired. So, I cannot test this version as I did the previous version. Hence my question: Does this version actually record system audio? According to your Web site, purchased licenses include a "15 day money back guarantee." Does that guarantee apply to this purchased license as well? Even if so, I would rather not purchase the software, find that it does not record System Audio, and then have to use the money back guarantee to recover my purchase price. So, please advise, does it now record System Audio?
Oct 5 2016 at 12:26pm Copy Link

Alex Ferri Hello,

To record System Audio you must have a recording device named 'Stereo Mix' installed and you must select this device to record audio from the system. Right-click the mouse over the speaker icon on the system tray, then select 'Recording Devices', then right click inside the area of the devices and enable all disabled devices, at this point you should see a 'Stereo Mix' audio device, if you don't see it then you need to go to your audio board manufacturer and download a proper driver.

Use this key on the current download and you will be granted 10 days more to try the product:
