You're an avid music collector, and that's great. But the problem with MP3s is that depending on where they came from, any or all of the embedded tag information (artist, album artist, genre, composer, track number, disc number, etc.) can be completely, utterly incorrect. And unless you're a media robot connected directly to the extensive Amazon Music Database, fixing these tag errors can be an impossibly daunting task!

Abander TagControl is a powerful multimedia library manager that lets you edit tag information in files across a variety of formats, including MP3, OGG, WMA, ASF, APE, MPC, FLAC, and AAC. Using Abander TagControl, you'll be able to filter files to edit a particular tag, rename files according to tag information, populate tags according to file names, fetch album info from the internet, sync ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags, and even change multiple tags at once using a handy wizard interface.

Abander TagControl can also retrieve lyrics, sourcing them from 11 discreet lyric databases. Just select the album or tracks and use the "Get Lyrics" command. VoilĂ ! Abander TagControl will automatically perform the search and locate the lyrics!

As a multimedia manager, nothing beats Abander TagControl! The unique tree-structure enables you to quickly, easily and conveniently manage your music collection. Complete tag and MPEG information (artist, title, track, album, year, song time, comment, link, bitrate, sample rate, file size, encoder name, tag version) is available for any file in your library. You can even compile a database from your music collection and download complete databases from the publisher!

How many multimedia managers give you reporting control? This one does! Abander TagControl produces reports in ASCII text and HTML formats. Plus, you can use Abander TagControl to export lyrics, comments and album information to spreadsheets, playlists, HTML, or text!

Louis H I have been trying for more than 48 hours to download a trial version of this but it always times out and reports that the connection has been reset. (Both Firefox and IE) Has anyone been able to download this program as I would really like to give it a test run and take advantage of today's special pricing, but not being able to access the program for downloading for more than 2 days is not a good sign. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Louis H Thank you, Michael.

That helped me to track down where on my end the problem was. After resetting a few things I was able to download the program without a problem.

Mary Wilson Husband purchased me a iPod for me as a gift recently and I am trying to learn about it. Sorry if my question is to silly as I am not understanding this program. Installing the program on my computer, it looks like a basic editor of the megatag. Only items I have had to change on the CD music was a couple of the categories on the music. Not really sure how this will help me manage my music. The titles and information it contains are downloaded when either I download music or upload it from my CD's and how Amazon comes. Is there a video that shows how the program works for a very new person to working with MP3 files that does not know what she is doing.

Louis H Installed without a problem. Able to edit tags quite nicely. I wanted to set up my custom player control and the browse button will not bring up a directory of my folders. I tried to manually enter the info for a number of different players I have installed and it will not accept or recognize any of them. I am using Win 7 Professional (64 bit). Any assistance in getting a custom player set up would be appreciated.

Louis H Dennis,

Thank you for your response.

1) Custom Player Setup - this was the first thing I tried. The problem is that it will not accept any player I enter manually, nor will the "browse" button bring up a dialogue window to let me choose. The "browse" button does not work for Winamp or for Custom Player. (At least on my system - Win 7 Professional 64 bit - where the folder is "Program Files (x86)"  (As I mentioned, however, this is not a "make or break" selling point for me.) Ok - I just had an idea and tried it and it worked. I have a portable version of a media player (VLC) and I placed it in the "Program Files" folder and it loads without problems. I entered the location by hand (the "Browse" button still does not work) and then selected "Play" for a file within TagControl and it plays just fine. So it appears that, at least on my system, TagControl has some problem identifying "Program Files (x86)" as a valid folder, but does fine identifying the "Program Files" folder as valid.

2) Good to know this is on the "to do" list!

3) My download problem was due to ZoneAlarm browser security having a problem with the link. I turned it off and downloaded the current version without problem. (And for anyone else reading this - I did a scan of the file and all files TagControl added to my system and they all came out clean. ZoneAlarm Browser security sometimes does this, but as I said, everything checked out clean after the install.)

Thanks again for your response, Dennis!

(as mentioned a bit earlier - for the lyrics feature alone I will go ahead and take advantage of the discount today.)

Rubby the duck I currently use another program to organize my music collection, so Iwasn't interested in Abander TagControl when it appeared on the previewlist of BdJ. But reading the comments, I get more and more curiousabout its features.

My current programme does support batchdownload of cover images and also retrieves tags of amazon, but it doesnot download any lyrics. So I have to use a different application whichis able to batch download those informations for me. Unfortunately thisone doesn't support unicode characters and ruins all my tags.Additionally this one often adds lyrics like 'n/a' or 'no lyricsavailable' which isn't helpful at all.

Would anyone, please, bekind and tell me whether Abander TagControl supports batch download oflyrics and also unicode characters? I couldn't find this information onthe website.

Louis H I don't see my last response here. I may have done something amiss.

Anyway... C Roth - It does support Unicode Characters for file-names, tags and ID3v2 text tags.

It is suppose to support batch downloading for lyrics, but I am still working on getting that to work for me. (Fault may be on my end) It may not be fully implemented as of this release, but it is indeed a feature that is planned for.

Hope that helps

Rubby the duck Oh yes, Louis, your reply did in fact help a lot.
As you have mentioned earlier, the lyrics feature alone is worth considering Abander TagControl.
Unfortunately I am not able to download, install and try out this programme today, so I trustworthy rely on your comments. This will be the first application I am purchasing without evaluating it.
Have a nice weekend.

Mary Wilson Someone above mention having problems with "Program Files (x86)". Does this mean that it is not working with Windows 7 Operating systems?

Louis H Mary,

I use Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. And it runs. Their website also states this most current version is for Windows 7.

That said, however, I'm not sure why it would not recognize my Custom Player from the "Program Files (x86)" folder, but only from the "Program Files" folder. I image it may be a bug that they will need to sort out with the next revision.

Rubby the duck I was able to try out Abander TagControl this morning and so far I don't regret my purchase. The installation went fine, I chose my old computer for it (Win XP SP3), and checked all the files for malware - everything seems to be clean. I hesitated to use this new tool on my music collection, so I decided to copy a few songs, try out TagControls lyrics download and compare both files, my original ones and the new, ones to make sure that none of my tags were deleted during the process. I decided to use several songs of Doris Day. My current programme, which I use to download lyrics, couldn't find most of the lyrics, just 'Que sera' and a few other popular ones, so I was very curious to see how well Abander TagControl would perform this task. Batch downloading worked fine here and I really liked it that I was able to see a preview of the lyrics, before they were saved into the tags. The comparison revealed that Abander doesn't delete any tags. Just one minor gripe here: The programme found two lyrics which weren't perfomed by Doris Day and thus aren't correct at all. 'Tea for two' and 'I want to be happy'. Abander TagControl found two songs perfomed by 'Jimmy and Nanette', whoever this might be... For reference: http://www.metrolyrics.co...r-two.html http://www.metrolyrics.co...r-two.html But all in all this one turned out to be a nice addition to my toolbox.
