What are people saying about abylon CRYPTDRIVE

Adam Bridge From the Abylon Website"
"Since the large Windows 10 update with the build number "10586" the opening of the encrypted CRYPTDRIVE is no longer possible. We currently consider whether can resolve this problem."

Deal breaker for me - and whilst they don't actually say its Win10 compatible on BDJ I think the fact it isn't needs to be highlighted in big letters !

Thomas Klabunde Hello Dillip Varma,
the problem with abylon CRYPTDRIVE under Windows 10 has occurred with the release of Update "10586" until 2-3 weeks ago. Previously ran abylon CRYPTDRIVE under Windows 10. We as developers were surprised them as well.

We currently are to determine the cause. For this purpose we are also in contact with Microsoft. However, the troubleshooting pulls out longer than expected. Sorry, but we do our best ....

To raise false hopes, I have removed Windows 10 as supported operating system temporarily.

Cooler Three licenses cheaper than one?
"abylon CRYPTDRIVE - 1 License ($17.42)"

Thomas Klabunde Hi

@Cooler:
Thank you for your concern. This is not an error but just expressed a bit inconvenient.

In the Pack each license will cost US-$ 9, so together US-$ 27.

@Dilip Varma:
Today we have received confirmation that a Microsoft employee is testing the software abylon CRYPTDRIVE. Case of large companies, the mills grind slowly. If we work together to find a solution, we will implement it immediately and publish a fix.

Daryn Bogart @Constantin Florea.........I'm hoping this is not a case where your company is deciding whether to fix the issue or not as 10586 is already almost a thing of the past. There have been updates made since 10586 as there are many of us in the Insider Program who obtain updates before the general public.

My question is, if we grab this and install, will we receive whatever update the company issues to make it Win 10 compatible or will this be in a future release that would require payment? I need to see that the software will meet my needs prior to purchasing it.

Thomas Klabunde @Daryn Bogart:
We're also very sorry that this has gone that way. The decision to publish the software abylon CRYPTDRIVE at BDJ was before the release of the Microsoft update. Unfortunately, such surprises always occur again. In addition, the response time of Microsoft in this case, was not very fast. Unless we find a solution, it will be a free update for the commercial version.

Daryn Bogart @ Fred Schall.....Norton is giving a flase positive on this product. This is safe. Any encryption softeware will likely be listed as potentially unsafe by Norton.

Fred Schall Thank you Daryn.

I will install on a win 8.1 machine. Will I have problems (previous posts) when I upgrade to win 10?

Under the following link you can find the result of virus Total: https://www.virustotal.co.../analysis/

2.
At present the update of Windows 8 to 10 would be a problem, because then you can no longer access the encrypted data. We are working hard to solve this problem.

Fred Schall So, what do you suggest? You have a time limit in which to install the software. If I install today within the time limit you have given....then upgrade in 3 weeks to win 10.....I will have a HUGE problem.

Can you extend the install time frame to unlimited since you know that you have a huge issue confronting everyone? Also, can you inform those who have downloaded or installed in win 8.1 or win 10 environment the date of the fix when you have solved the issue?

Many thanks.
Fred

Thomas Klabunde Hi,
Unfortunately, I'm on the go. But I think we will find a satisfactory solution for all.

Adam Bryan I don't see what features would make me use this over freeware cryptographic software such as VeraCrypt, which I can install anytime. If I am to pay then it has to offer something worth paying for. Thanks though for supporting BDJ.

Peter User Sorry, but donĀ“t really understand the settings (key-management). SYMM-system/HYBRYD-system, administration settings??? I better use for such important job a SW that I really understand and I can install it at anytime. What happens when I reinstall windows - are SW and data lost?

Thomas Klabunde Hi Peter,
the specified settings are for companies and professionals. A normal user does this not to be observed. He simply needs to create a new drive and enter the password or insert the hardware key.
Our software can be downloaded from our website and in test mode decryption is possible at any time.

Cool User What does this software offer that Windows built-in Bit Locker can't do?
Apr 12 2016 at 6:43am Copy Link

Thomas Klabunde Hi, I would like to briefly review the news of "Cool User". Bitlocker is a full disk encryption and abylon CRYPTDRIVE is a container solution. This is the primary difference.
Many people do not like the software from Microsoft, an American company. In addition, the encryption password is stored in the cloud and with more or less effort it should be possible even without a password, remove the encryption. This is probably due to the fact that Windows has to abolish encryption for certain operating system updates.
But everyone should form an opinion themselves and be concerned about encryption in advance. There are many different encryption applications as there are problems and demands.
Questions and suggestions are always welcome ...

Mike Montes Does this software offer the ability to install to a different drive? For example, the D:\ with 1 TB of free space or the E:\ with 2 TB of free space. I've used Abylon software before and so far, so good. Thanks.

Thomas Klabunde Hi Mike Montes,
The program directory can be selected during installation.
The location of the encrypted drives is also freely selectable.

Mike Montes Holy Cow! I installed it, restarted and now I get a "Windows 7 Test Mode" message in the lower right corner of the screen! Huh? But why? I uninstalled the program, thinking maybe I did something wrong and now, everything is back to normal. Hmmm. But thanks for responding Thomas. Like I said before, I've used Abylon software before with success and this is the first time something like this has happened. Not sure what to do now. I have 30 days to re-install so maybe someone will provide a solution.

Loyal Customer Can someone from abylon explain to me what CRYPTDRIVE provides that the open-source and free VeraCrypt doesn't (other than the trivial difference in GUI/interface)???

jman Hello! I have a question. I do regular backups of my documents to an external drive. The "encrypted container" would be included in that backup. At some point if my computer crashed and I lost this installed abylon CRYPTDRIVE software, would I still be able to open those encrypted backups on the external drive and, if so, how? Thank you!

Dax User I installed this software and was met with many warnings about it lacking the appropriate security credentials which the publisher is apparently too cheap to obtain. He wants you to allow his software to make chgange to your boot sectors without any indepdent assurance that these are are/will not be destructive. -- Your boot sector can keep your computer from loading. VERY DANGEROUS.

Thomas Klabunde Hi, Sorry I didn't get an answer till now.

@Loyal Customer: I can't answer that question so easily. Our software is different, but in the functionality is similar to CRYPTDRIVE and VeraCrypt. Some things can VeraCrypt, which CRYPTDRIVE can not. Nevertheless, make prefer to make on a software, which is not so widespread. And for many it is simply a matter of taste.

@jboy: Yes, of course. You can download our software from our homepage and test it for 30 days. You can also import existing Cryptdrive's and get access to the data. No cent is necessary for this.

@Dax User: Yes we change the boot manager and as you write, we explicitly point this out. Many others would not do this. So everybody can decide for himself if this is important for him or if he would rather create an encrypted drive. If you are not familiar with this matter, you should keep your hands off our software.

Best wishes
