PC Trek @Pat User, We don't send activation codes with this version. You have already confirmed your email and now its on pending list waiting to activate the software with a simple click on the blue activate button in the final step. If you have closed the software please follow these steps:

1. Click on the blue "Activate Now" button from the main interface.
2. Click on "Register my FREE 1 Year License"
3. Input the same email you have already confirmed before. It will says "Pending activation" and move you to the blue "Activate" button mentioned in the first paragraph.
4. Just click "Activate" button again and its done.

PC Trek @Jim Ausenbaugh, Software and Games key recovery could work on other drives attached to your computer even if they are partially damaged or unbootable but still accessible with USB cable or other connector. Please click on SOFTWARE section and click the first icon that looks like a external drive at the bottom right corner, then select your external WINDOWS folder ex. F:\WINDOWS. Same goes for FTP section where icon looks like a USB drive. As for other sections like BROWSERS, WIRELESS and etc, the passwords are hashed to the user account and can't be decrypted if you don't have admin privileges and access to the computer.

Jane Blue I had a hard drive failure on my previous computer. I still have the hard drive and have been able to get most of my files off it. However, I have lost my registration key to one of my software programs. Would your software allow me to recover the key from the registry?

PC Trek @major4579, Many people prefer having USB with portable app instead of installing them on dozen of computer because its time consuming. Practically you can use the portable version if you have activated this version without a problem. You don't need to pay anything for portable version. But please be aware that activation is locked to the computer, not the USB. So if you move the activated software to another computer it would need another activation on the new computer. Anyway you won't lose your activation on the old computer even if you delete or uninstall Advanced Password Recovery Suite as long as you don't format the disk or reinstall Windows.

PC Trek @Jane Blue, Yes you will be able you to recover the keys from registry if they are not affected by the failed hard drive. Advanced Password Recovery Suite can recover over 1500 known programs like Microsoft Windows, Office, Nero, WinZip, VMWare and etc with a quick scan. Please see the comment above how to scan external disk and then select "deep registry scan" after the initial quick scan is done.

That means you have already used that email but haven't confirmed it yet. Please check your spam folder just in case the email was moved there by your email provider. Otherwise if you can't find it (or it has been blocked by your email server), please use another email to activate the software for free.

Johnny Chow Bought the software and ran it. I got none of the password from the screen. All it said is Activation required: : I just copied one of the line to show below:

This happened on all items and on all categories. All you can see in the Password column is require activation

M G In my understanding you can install the software only once as the footprint does not allow any further use.
So, if your device dies or you buy a new one you need a new license - is my understanding right?
And most likely you only need it once, at the end of the lifetime of your device.

fpi fpi Your version history or change log, does not contain any release date. So it's dificult to evaluate, the space time between two upgades. With your free offer only for updates, If an upgraded is planed in a short delay, the good deal will no longer be one.
In practice, reading a detailed history sometimes, avoids an useless purchase.

PC Trek Eric, you can save the keys/password in a simple format as a ".txt" or ".csv" by clicking the gray icon that looks like a floppy disk at bottom right corner. The Change Log could be found under the Download button on the product page where it says "View full version history..."

Robert User, if you change only the hard drive you will still be able to reactivate the product on the new drive using the same old activation key, but changing other main hardware components would be considered as a new computer and the activation server won't allow that.

1. Saving as TXT \ CSV preserves sensitive info (passwords ...) in the clear. Such information should be encrypted, to keep it away from prying eyes or possible malware.

2. I found the Change Log, as you suggested. It has no change dates however - only version numbers and the changes incorporated, When was the most recent version released?

As for your answer to Robert:

For all practical purposes, replacing a faulty part (memory chip, Video Card, expansion card, CPU) or even upgrading any of the above (adding memory, switching to a more powerful video card or compatible CPU, adding an expansion card or another drive) are not in line with a PC replacement, but they do affect the hardware footprint.

I understand that the license is per computer (and so is MS-Windows's license), but even Microsoft doesn't ask for a new license when only a few hardware items were replaced \ added - for all I remember, it takes a change of at least 5 hardware items for the license to suggest that this might be a new PC.

You may wish to check on this and hopefully relax the requirements.

Replacing a faulty parts like memory, video cards, expansion cards, hard disk or etc. won't affect the reactivation with the old key. But a new motherboard or a CPU would affect it because that's considered as a main component of any new computer.

Could you please comment on the 1st part (encryption of the saved file, Change Log dates, when was the last update of the software applied) too?

On a side note: assuming the User doesn't save the program's output, are there any temp files leftovers, which might contain sensitive data?

Saved .txt or .csv are not encrypted, but thanks for the suggestion. We assume the user could place those files somewhere safe or encrypt them using a third party free software. About the Change Log dates, our first version was released on Mar 2018, and the last version was on Jul 2021 because the decryption algorithms are still working for now. We usually post any new releases on our Facebook and Twitter page with the exact date for each version.

And we do NOT keep any temp files containing sensitive data locally or anywhere on the cloud or any server.

Robert User Thanks PC Trek for the responses, and thanks to Eric for his involvement (very helpful).

I used a hard-drive as an example of simple changes users might want to make AND because for a lot of software based on a hardware footprint, the hard drive can cause that footprint to change.

The problem is that there are others things that also generally change the hardware footprint, so even if those are permitted, I think that using the term hardware footprint in the Fine Print may prevent a lots of sales that you would like to have. I suggest that you add some clarification to not lose those potential buyers.

Even with a motherboard replacement, which I have had to do on the same computer that then used all the other components the same as before, should still be considered the same computer, regardless if any hardware footprint changed. Microsoft can get past that change and other software developers should as well. Allow a deactivation-reactivation process to allow that software to continue to work since it has been installed only once. I consider a computer the entire box and everything that goes into it as one computer because it is one computer. If you want to limit to one computer, then fine, but make sure the computer is that entire box. Don't be the hardball developer that is trying to irk out a few pennies more when a user has a calamity; that's not the time they need it. Or to better clarify, they never need it. Anytime you place stumbling blocks in the way of a potential sale, you are doing it all wrong.

You should also add dates and matching version numbers to your changelog. I do a lot of referring to corporate clients great software choices to consider. One stickler is that they simply will not risk investing in software without a respectful Changelog.

One thing you have going for you is being responsive in the comments. I do appreciate that. Make sure you leave no question unanswered, even after the sale has ended. The comments and your responses will be here for a while, and they do provide valuable information to potential customers.

Regardless of my stance on the above, I would still consider a purchase if the software can recover a Windows 10 password, something that Opcrack cannot do. Thanking you in advance for an answer.

We are forced to use a hardware footprint because our product can recover sensitive information like passwords. This way we prevent the abusing of the software in case if someone has a physical access to another computer and activates the software many times using the same key and stealing those information.

Unfortunately, our product can't recover Windows 10 user accounts, but it can recover installation keys for all Windows versions including XP and above and many other known software products that allow reinstallation like some Microsoft Office products, WinZip, few Adobe products and etc.

PC Trek No, you can't use the portable version on different PCs with one license. The reason for portable version is if you want to keep our product private on a USB drive and not be listed in Control Panel installations in case if someone else has access to your computer and notice it there and might run it.

Robert Crombie I installed Trial.
I then purchased, and entered key into the running program.
The good news it says registered.
The bad news - I cannot find the exe. I am running W11 Pro 64 bit
I went to the folder where I downloaded the Trial.
If I run that exe, it does open the program (registered)
That is a bit disconcerting.
Anyone else have similar 'problem' ?

Could someone tell me where the installed program's exe is located in our file manager ?

You can use the portable or the installation version. The executable file is in the installation directory you've chosen.
If the file isn't there, please try to disable your antivirus, because some AVs automatically block or delete files that can recover passwords.

My issue wasnt in installing it was in running the app. It wouldnt open on installation. I reached out to the software maker and the feedback was not our fault it isnt working and their explanation was:

"It seems your "comctl32.dll" dependency file version is 6.10.xxxx.
The official Windows version should be 5.82.xxxx.
Please open your c:\Windows\SYSWOW64 folder and right click on this file to check the version under "Properties" tab.
In case if your version is 5.xx.xxxx, then you probably have installed some other application that's has overwritten the default system path and loads the dependency file from different location"
This means your default loading path has been changed by another application and this file is loaded from completely different location which is not our fault. If you try to search all comctl32.dll files in your system, you might be able to find this version and location"

They didnt provide a solution just an explanation and to say its not their fault and I am not a techie so expecting me to figure out on my own what to do after they have explained what they say is the issue was a bridge too far so I went ahead and got a refund.

PC Trek @Adam P, actually you are wrong. Once you activate our software, you will get a lifetime activation on the system that has been activated for the first time. This means even if you reinstall or format your computer, you will still be able to use the same activation key and reactive it on the same hardware as many times as needed.

PC Trek @Adam P, Everything is allowed including a new hard drive, new graphic card or memory upgrade except for a new motherboard or a new CPU which practically means a completely different computer.

PC Trek @Bobby, about the invalid code, please make sure you have not copied any empty spaces at the begining or end of the activation key.
As for the FTP scan, please don't do a quick recovery from the main interface, but instead of that do a custom FTP scan for each FTP client separately. This way you will find which client is causing the crash probably because of corrupted file format.

The code finally worked; maybe there was some delay needed
I have read the workaround for FF64, but then it is easy to export it by its own function (at least for me).

PC Trek @Bobby, That's because your Firefox is 64-bit. To recover them, you will need to provide the location of a 32-bit 'nss3.dll,' which can be found in the portable Firefox 32-bit or Thunderbird 32-bit folder, without the need to install them. Using the custom browser recovery option, provide your Firefox 64-bit password file linked to the 32-bit location of 'nss3.dll.' Please read more about this on our FAQ page

Tom Juric I would not buy this program. I run windows 10. The program installed but would never run. It errored out. The error was caused by version 6 of comctl32.dll. They recommended replacing the DLL which i did. The program would not run (I deleted the file, and I replaced the file, but it would not work). When I tried to reinstall the program AFER removing the file the installation errored out on the original problem file saying the file was missing and the program would not complete the install.

PC Trek @Tom Juric, we never suggested manually deleting comctl32.dll; instead we advised letting Windows Update fix the incorrect version of the file. There are many instances of this file installed on your computer, which were causing a conflict based on the Windows Event Viewer

PC Trek @NRL, Yes, you can use both versions with one key. Please be aware that the license is not transferable to another computer with the portable version. The advantage of the portable version is that it does not need to be installed and can be kept on a USB drive in case there are multiple users on the same computer. This way, the software won't appear in the Control Panel, and other users won't be aware of it, which is helpful if you need to keep your sensitive information private.
