What are people saying about Advanced Task Scheduler Professional

Pim Joosten What does this program offer over and above the Windows Task Scheduler?

TBH: it is kind of strange that this I think most obvious question is not answered here nor on the program's website. Also, the same question was asked for the personal version here: http://www.bitsdujour.com...-scheduler by Just Asking and Pavel S. on October 29th 2012, but these questions were never answered.

Logically this is crucial information, because it makes no sense for me to buy this program when it is not clear what it offers me on top of what I already have.

Marketing tip: do not make your prospects think and research so much and clearly lay out the benefits instead of just the features.

Pim Joosten Thank you for the reference. I was unable to find it on your website and still is difficult to find. Do you know that this article is not yet included in the index of the articles and therefore impossible to find without the link you provided?

I have one more question. On which OS'es are version 1 or version 2 of the Windows Task Scheduler included? I am using Windows Vista, and the help of Task Scheduler states it is version 1. But from your schedule it seems that version 1 is for Windows XP, and version 2 is for Windows Vista, 7 and 8.

Danny On the Tab "The Fine Print" I read: This promotion cannot be used to upgrade or extend an existing license.

Is that so?

Southsoftware Pim, thank you for pointing these things out. The article has been added to the index of the articles: http://www.advscheduler.com/articles/

It appears that Task Scheduler in Windows Vista shows version 1, however, it is version 2 (if comparing by features).

As this promotion offers a new license, it can be used to replace existing license, but not to upgrade or extend it.

Tom Hello Southsoftware,

On The Fine Print the 3th statement is a bit confusing for me:
"Each license allows installation on 1 computer, but Advanced Task Scheduler Professional may not be used at exactly the same time on each of them".

How should the part "on each of them" be interpreted?

Could it be that the installation is allowed on a computer and a laptop but ATS may not be used at the same time?

Regards Tom

Southsoftware @Tom
This means that 1 license can be used on 1 computer. 1 license cannot be used on a computer and a laptop at the same time, but it can be transferred from one computer to another.

Pim Joosten @Tom: The fine print has been changed somewhat, it now states "Each license allows installation on 1 computer." This is much clearer indeed, I had the same confusion as you had.

@Southsoftware: what is the normal upgrade price if I want to upgrade after the 12 month period with free upgrades has passed? Is it the same price as a regular (new) license or is the normal upgrade price lower?

Southsoftware @Pim Joosten
The upgrade price is 50% from regular price.

Fletch Fine print here "For versions after that, upgrades will require additional payment, which will not be discounted." doesn't quite match their purchase FAQ nor his comment above in June 2013.

Any chance for 3yr. Updates and Support for $17.99 or other discount?

Is it compatible with Windows 10?

J Hello,

Do you have a version history page or change log on your website?

I wasn't able to find one.

If not, how often is this software updated?

Thank you.

Southsoftware You can find change log in the whatsnew.txt file in the folder where Advanced Task Scheduler is installed.

J Hello Southsoftware,

Thank you for that information.

I'm trying out the Pro trial version and I'm unable to get a certain simple task to work

The task is set to open Notepad when the Internet is disconnected. I then unplug my Ethernet cable and stop the Internet connection, but Notepad doesn't open.

Settings are: Internet connection; Any connection; Disconnected

It runs fine when I click on 'Run selected task(s) now'.

Am I doing something wrong or is this not available in an 'Unregistered' version?

Thank you.

dcee3 Does the Network edition use the Server to run all the tasks on all the client computers? Do I understand that correctly?

Southsoftware @J
Currently, the "Internet connection" schedule type watches for ISP connections
such as PPP, PPPoE, DSL, ADSL.

Southsoftware @dcee3
In Network version, the scheduled tasks run on the server.
The server is installed as service on the machine where you wish to run scheduled tasks.
The client is used to manage tasks on the server over the network.
You need licenses to servers only. Clients are free to use.

Daniel - If I purchase Advanced Task Scheduler Professional today, will I be able to upgrade at a discounted rate to Advanced Task Scheduler Network in the future, if I decide to?

If I install the Pro version on a PC, but change hardware (hard disk, video card, memory, motherboard), will this change the hardware footprint and will I be able to reinstall the software on that PC after that?
Jul 6 2016 at 10:30am Copy Link

Southsoftware @Daniel This discount does not apply to Advanced Task Scheduler Network.

You will be able to reactivate your software on a system with different hardware fingerprint automatically in 6 months after last activation.

You will receive the same license as if you would purchase at the regular price. More licensing information here: http://www.advscheduler.c...chase.html
