What are people saying about Amberlight 2

Bruno Verschraegen I own Flame Painter. What is the difference between FP and Amberlight? Or can you point me to somewhere on your website where the difference is explained? I browsed around and also googled but did not readily find a clear answer.

Peter Blaskovic - Escape Motions Hello Bruno,

Flame Painter and Amberlight are independent software that differ both in the algorithm they use and the results they create.
The effects achieved with Amberlight can be hardly achieved in Flame Painter as Amberlight creates more computer generated art with a use of "law of physics". Flame Painter uses brushes while Amberlight renders the scene according to the Fields settings. You can experiment with the Fields settings while the scene is re-rendered (shown in the video).

Many users wrote us that Amberlight is a great addition to Flame Painter as they tend to combine both software for their work.

You may like to try out the free Amberlight Demo and test the differences on your own skin before purchasing.

Cheers,
Escape Motions Team

Jim Ganw @Bruno:
I'm a Flame Painter user as well and purchased AmberLight within seconds of seeing it here at Bits. So, I'm qualified to answer your question.

The difference is that as amazing to use as Flame Painter is, AmberLight is horribly addictive and generates stunning light particles of infinite possibility. You don't want that, do you?

Only going to take a few seconds here, before going back to generate more geometric magic. (Did I mention it's addictive?) Don't buy it. Let me be the only one to generate exquisite visuals. Thanks! ;-)

You'd be crazy not to get it. But, you'll be addicted, fair warning. It's way too much rendering fun for the money. The Escape Motions Team have hit it out of the park and across the galaxy. Again.

Louis H I wanted to second what Jim posted. Both programs work together to give you a wider range of effects. They truly do complement each other. This is an excellent discount.

Jane Blue Can the images have transparent backgrounds? I'm interested in using them as overlays onto other images.

In which formats can the images be saved?

What are the license terms for our finished images?

Louis H I can offer some answers, based on my experience as a end user...(Peter lives in Pieštany, Slovakia - with a 6 hour time difference between there and my own time zone EDT.)

@Jane... Yes. Simply choose to have no background layer. You go to File and choose New. In the options window that comes up, you can choose a color for the background or no background for a transparent background. (There are other ways to do this, such as simply turning off the background layer in the layer panel - if you end up with a background - but I try and start out with no background.)

You can save images in png jpg bmp and tif. There is also an amb option which is the proprietary file format for Amberlight. (It serves like a psd file in Photoshop - saves all your layers and information so you can go back and change the various options. I always save each final image as an amb file as well as whatever other format I want.

You are free to use your finished images as you choose.

"Users may use the Software for commercial, or for-profit activities as well as for personal, non-commercial, or non-profit activities."

See the full license terms at...

http://www.escapemotions....icense.txt

Hope that helps...

@Lito As a user of both Flame Painter and Amberlight, I am not aware of any animation function being available. I normally use it to create images that I then overlay on other images. It is rare for me to use it with a specific image. I normally use Flame Painter for that. I use Amberlight to generate random designs to then use as overlays. (I also admit that I feel like I am still quite a beginner when it comes to fully exploring all that this program can do. The developer may be able to tell you different.)

Hope that helps a little....

Jane Blue @ Louis H - Thanks, that was very helpful, and kind of you. If you don't mind, maybe you can answer a tnree other questions. I downloaded the trial version. When I try to import a jpg image I get an invalid image error. I will open a windows bitmap or a png image, but no jpg's at all. Is this normal?

When playing around, it starts changing the picture, rending new layers or something when I just want to manipulate what is there. Eventually there's too much stuff. Is there a way to stop this so I'm working with one picture that ony changes when I grab the layer handles and move them?

A quick one: are there tutorials online for this? Thank you, sir.

Louis H @ Jane Blue... you are welcome!

1) Jpg problems. I am not sure why this is happening. My full version handles the jpgs I load without problems. I am afraid this one needs input from the developer.

2) Currently Amberlight does not provide a full range of the kind of control you may be looking for.

I would like to see an Undo button - although you can select and delete individual Fields, there is no way, to my knowledge, to undo the change you tried and return to the exact position the Field was in before moving it.

I would also like the ability of more precise on and off control of the Render function for each Field. I would love to see a future version where each field could be managed as a separate layer, allowing you to turn each Field on and off to create variation in a final layered image. OR the ability to simply add additional Amberlight layers upon which to run the Fields upon. Right now, again to my current knowledge, you can only have two layers. The Amberlight layer - where the program works it's algorithms, and the Image layer where you can add an image over which you wish to create an overlay for.

I would also like to see a Preferences for options where one can change the defaults - especially for the Step counter.

If you need to have more precise control of all of the features, Amberlight may not be what you are looking for. There are workarounds, but the ones I use tend to take more work than they may be worth, so I tend to simply start out by setting the Step counter to 1 - set my fields where I want them - then increase the Step value - and then hit Render.

I have also saved the result and then loaded it as the Image layer and created a new Amberlight layer to add effects. I then load both of these files into Photoshop as overlays and blend them accordingly.

If there are easier ways to do this, I am not aware of them. hopefully someone with more advanced skills may be able to provide a better understanding as to how to accomplish, if possible, what you are seeking to do.

3) Tutorials... I would like to see some myself. There is one very nice Intro video that runs just over 5 and a half minutes. It is in Spanish, but the individual does a nice job of giving you a good overview of what each slider and option does. I was able to learn from it even though my understanding of Spanish is limited. Here is the link....

I wish I could be of more help.

Peter Blaskovic - Escape Motions Hi @Ricky Rick,
yes, you can create seamless looping in Amberlight 2, just enable Looping when setting a new scene or at Final rendering.
We're sorry for this late reply, we have not seen your comment until today, and haven't received alert to our account, unfortunately.

@peter anon - Amberlight 1 users upgrade for price difference which is $29.99 which is the current price in the promo.

@Philip User - please make sure to download the full version from our Download page: https://www.escapemotions...wnload.php
using registration details you received after purchase.

Michael User Purchased this and got a demo software download. The download had no installer but was already setup. There is no where within the demo software to enter the registration code I received and therefore the software will not save any of the work (demo restriction).

Please provide information on how to register the software after purchase.
