PC pet peeve #17: Unexpected blips, beeps, volume surges, and otherwise unwanted noises that scream out of your computer speakers when you least want them to.

Yep, we sure do hate it when all that happens. I mean, how many times has a Myspace page made you jump halfway out of your chair? How many times has that annoying IM beep shattered the midnight calm?

Wouldn't it be great if there were software that allowed you greater control over the volume levels on your PC?

Of course it would, and that's exactly what Automuter - today's discounted title - can do for you.

Steven Avery Hi Folks,

The concept is good, I've had a difficult time finding good, simple volume limiting programs.

I made a quick try with the music that comes out of Paltalk, (voice chat with music rooms, so the music levels vary a lot and sometimes could use an auto-reduction) the mute/unmute works very fine (although for that I can also turn the knob on the speakers).

However I could not get the muting mode to only reduce the sound level, I had the -90db setting and it still came out loud. Perhaps that only works with the media players like WinAmp rather than a "chat room" sound, even if music ?

I would try the WinAmp/WindowsMediaPlayer test, but hey, its late at night and I don't want to blast too much music !

Shalom,
Steven

Clive Hillier What I love about this program is the installation guide that you
only get to see once you have installed it - and in pdf as well.

Man, it must of taken him longer to write the guide than the program.
