You know that your music collection could use a little attention. It's not enough just to have all of that music in digital format, you've got to have tracks, artists, and albums labeled correctly in order to find them, but who has the time to go through thousands of items? Certainly not you or I! That's why it's great to be able to automate this process using beaTunes!

beaTunes analyzes your music library, letting you fix incorrect information, eliminate duplicate files, discover orphaned library entries, and more! With beaTunes, what you thought would take days and weeks will be accomplished in mere minutes!

The wonder of beaTunes is just how powerful it can be. For example, beaTunes can automatically determine BPM and key for each of your songs, look up metadata and categorize songs -- and that's before any error correction actually begins. When it comes time to actually fix incorrect items, beaTunes gets straight to work, detecting typos, incorrectly assigned genres, and more, not to mention finding duplicate files that clog up valuable hard drive space.

Once you've got a corrected, analyzed music library, you can use beaTunes to create matchlists based on songs that you specify, edit and sort existing playlists, even get harmonix mixing suggestions so that you can blow the crowd away at your next DJ gig!

Lupke Brother @BeaTunes,

- beaTunes is licensed per user, so if more people are going to use beaTunes you will need to purchase additional copies.

Can I install on both my desktop and laptop as a single user? Or do I need an additional license?

- Does beaTunes work well with Mediamonkey?

Richard User @Lupke

I have both beaTunes and MediaMonkey. The two apps don't really work "together", in that neither app has any awareness of the other. Each app maintains its own music database. It MediaMonkey, it's MM.DB. In beaTunes, it's beaTunes-(16 digit ID).h2.db (I think).

However, each app will recognize changes made by the other where they have fields in common, if you rescan (MM) or re-synchronize (bT) your music collection. For example, if you update a title tag in MM, bT will see the change when you resynchronize. If you add a BPM tag in bT, MM will see it when you rescan. But if you add metadata with bT that MM doesn't recognize (example, "danceability"), it has no effect on the tune from MM's perspective.

Both apps can operate with the same set of music files. You don't need to duplicate your music collection (which would be a big problem if you had to do that).

I think as long as you are aware of how each app works, you should be fine.

So why do I have both apps, one may wonder. Both apps are awesome, and each has features the other doesn't. I like beaTunes for its unique analytical and metadata capabilities. I like MM for its power, flexibility, and ease of use with a large music collection.

On your licensing question, I'm pretty sure you can install on both your desktop and laptop.

Lupke Brother @Richard User,

Many thanks Richard. Always good to hear from someone with hands on user experience. Much appreciated. Makes my decision a lot easier.

Techtoysavvy I have v3 and v4 and this is a great little app.
However, I had to give up on it when I moved to using the cloud.
I really dislike creating and editing playlists in iTunes.

Can I still use this as a simple playlist editor and will Apple just sync the playlist changes back to the cloud? I can understand that I have to give up on BPM analysis and all of those features unless I make sure I have local copies of the file.

Steven Aves >>algorithms to analyze your music for metadata like tempo (BPM), key, color, segments, similarities, loudness, and acoustical fingerprints<< Does this work with classical music? I downloaded the trial but doing the Analysis will take 9+ hours.
