What are people saying about Blaze Media Pro

adrian williams I record from a pc tv card and then convert to avi for convenience. I thought I'd give this software a try.
So I installed the trial, rebooted as instructed and run it. I selected video convert, loaded the mpeg file, selected avi and clicked on the convert and got "Timeline for the current video is empty. The file cannot be processed."
I tried a few other files, mpeg and avi, tried wmv conversion and avi, both divx and xvid, but still got the same message. I've looked on the FAQs and help pages but didnt find any answers.
Can Blaze comment ?

Chris Hoffman It sounds like a codec is causing an issue for you. Try enabling the alternate conversion method setting from the main window's Options menu, and then retry the conversion...

Dave Hines I made the mistake of purchasing this program a couple of years ago. The trial version worked fine. As soon as I registered the software, it stopped working. Mystik Media was not able to help, and would not refund my money. Buy this software at your own risk.

Chris Hoffman I'm not quite sure how to reply on that without context, but the trial version is _exactly_ the same as the purchased version. That is, they're the same program and therefore function identically aside from the evaluation period that is unlocked when purchasing. Also, we work very hard to provide prompt and effective support.

Dave Hines All I can tell you is it worked fine during the trial period and stopped working as soon as I registered it. I was unable to get a refund because "we give you a trial period to make sure it works." Which you did, and it worked fine during the trial period, but not afterwards.

Your "prompt and effective" support must not have been very prompt or effective given that I'm still complaining about this two years later. I hope the fifty bucks you got from me was worth having a disgruntled former customer out here telling anyone who will listen how lousy your software is.

Nicole Honovich SO when I started to have problem I looked here and read "Adrian williams" comment. We had the same problem (I am trying to convert MPEG to WMY) so I followed the suggestion. Now when I try to convert I get a new message, "Conversion could not be started. Please check that the compression files are working properly"

...what? I bought this program (After using the trial which worked perfectly), now I would like it to work.

Chris Hoffman The message you have mentioned is not coded into the software. Could it be coming from a codec? Also, see if this version below works better for you...

B Wright I'm going to have to agree with everyone on here, the error messages are ridiculous. "Timeline for the current video is empty. The file cannot be processed." Super waste of money! I don't even have the option to enable anything under the regular window's options.

G Slam I agree with all too.... expecially Dave Hines. Trial version worked perfectly and it was exactly what I needed to successfully do what Id set out to do - until I got the whole program. Started with one error message and I did what I was told to do with the codec and finally cleared it up... only to receive a new error message which still wont go away....

siegfried loin i have the same problem with you guys i want to convert a flv video to 3gp and it says... Timeline for the current video is empty. The file cannot be processed... i dont even what is timeline!!! why does it do this what do i have to do? please help!!!

William Weissman i had an older version, i think 4.3 or something. then, i installed 8.0, and i get these errors. involving empty timelines, except that i'm in the trial.

the trial and full are pretty much EXACTLY the same, therefore i have an explanation.

maybe, during trial, you had an older version, and when you purchased it, you decided to upgrade or download a new version. the newer versions that's can't do anything. it's handicapped. a retarded newborn.

so, if you go back to some older version somehow, it should work.

William Weissman alright, after a more thorough investigation.... version 8 and above can barely do anything. video converter says "cannot read from source file" or "current timeline is empty" for most output options, and for ipod, it seems to convert, but no file is saved.

versions 7 and below don't support mpeg-4, which is the only file type i want(the only one itunes can take).

version 8's video editor allows you to save, but the time it takes for a movie to save is about an hour, whereas converter could only be a few minutes.

it's just not worth the money until they get all these bugs fixed.

note: I use windows XP sp2.

Brian Kuiken I am unable to convert any files. When I get to the file to import from it appears to be empty and nothing will import. The files are definitely there as I can get to them fine through windows explorer. What could be preventing the software from seeing the contents of my files.

ed ramos I am using Blaze media pro version 8.03 and I am constructing a simple video with a Gif file and an audio mp3 file.
I keep on getting a "video time line empty" error no matter what I do. I tried setting in the options the "enable alternate conversion" but that did not solve the problem. Can you please let me know what I need to do to fix this silliness?

Todd Davis Well, at least I am not he onlyu one getting hte "timeline" error. I also am one of those folks whos free version worked fine, and then paid $50 to get highly frustrated. Looked up the contact info onlyto find that I cannot talk to a person, only via web page forms and email.

Tried everything that I read here without any changes. Emailed and used the form at 340pm to day and still nothing back as of an hour later.

Could anyone help or did I just how $50 down the drain?

Vinod Rasaily Friends,

i just learnt how to have FLV converted to mpeg or wmv format.

Just open the FLV file with EDIT VIDEO option in the main screen. Then choose FILE - OPEN - FILE TYPLE (ALL Files) - then....FILE - SAVE AS - THEN CHOOSE what format you would like to save with..... thats it.

Once it saves, you are done and can play with any media player.

Billie Lawless Agreed.
It's a horrible product.
Notice how the Mystic Media Developer disappeared back in January.

Chris Hoffman Just to clarify, the reason there was no response here is because this was for a special promotion many months ago which has since ended (it was for a week, I believe). Therefore, it was not thought of that there would be activity here.

Indeed, the timeline issue started with v8. v7 and previous never experienced it because they used a different processing engine. The timeline problem is related to DirectX configuration issues and plugins, and does not occur on all systems. However, it seems to occur on many...more than initially imagined.

If you have purchased v8 and have this problem, send us an email at referencing this post, and we'll upgrade you free to v9.

pyro . I am trying to use Blaze Media Pro too. I say "trying" because it doesn't seem to like convertine AVI's.

I have a ton of .mpg files that were recorded with my TV Tuner card. I am trying to convert them to AVI but I am prompted with the following message:

"An error occurred while attempting to save the current file. The file cannot be processed."

It worked ok to convert other media types but so far I am dissapointed.

Roger Thomasson Folks, remember, this is not a support forum.  Bits du Jour vendors are under no obligation to permanently monitor the comings and goings on a cached, 3rd-party promotion page from over a year ago.   If you need product support, I'd recommend contacting the vendor directly.  -roger
