Gr3gw Hi,

This is a program I have been considering recently and so to see it offered on BDJ is very welcome. A few questions:

1. I notice that this is version 5 and the company is now promoting versions 6. The price reflects the fact that the product on offer is an older version but can you summarise what features of 6 are not in version 5. I have scanned the website and it is very hard to do a realistic comparison.

2. In versions 5 and 6, there are two products: Standard and Pro. Again I find it hard to simply describe the differences between Standard and Pro. Can you summarise, please?

3. This is not an easy program to use. I have the trial version and I'm struggling. It's going to be hard to evaluate the product (Standard version 5) in such a short time unless I can find a simple tutorial to help me find out how to use it.

This is a program I want, my issue is that it is going to take time to work out if it will do what I want and also whether or not I should be aiming to get the Pro version or even version 6. Will version 5 have an advantageous upgrade path to version 6?

Craig User I don't know about this company. I have purchased products from them and have emailed twice in the past month with no reply whatsoever.

I also noticed on the buy page for Cutouts 6 that Standard and Pro both take you to buy standard--both buy links go to the same URL. Looks like an oops!

Gr3gw Hi Craig, Thanks for confirming to me that there is a certain amount of confusing information on Franzis's Projects-Software website. I think I read it correctly, but it may be another website error, the purchase price of Cut-Outs 6 Pro is the same as the upgrade price. ??

It could be that Cut-Out 5 Standard is all I need. I'm still trying to figure it out. Hope the offer gets extended for 24 hours.

scroll down, there are the differences right there in a table.

Barry User Yes I joined BDJour because of these emails. I am being offered standard 5 but want to know what is in the 6 version and ditto what is also in the professional versions! Lack of response makes me unlikely to buy even 5....please respond and give dates for upgrades to 6.....

Tognon Marco Installation is OK. Registration is OK. But the promo clip on youtube is fake. Look at the edge of the photograph. I tried with several pictures but none as clean as the promo clip. It can be used but they do not have to lie to us; even if it's a give away! Shame on Fritz!

Brian Karnofsky Getting registration code involves a couple emails from them, and agreeing to getting their newsletters. On mac version, I was able to download and register with their registration code. However app quits after entering user id and registration code.

Adam Bryan Installer not working for me. I used 7zip to extract the contents and then ran the executable but the Windows loading cursor spins for about 10-15 seconds then nothing (task manager shows it loading in memory but is promptly closed). No error message to indicate whats gone wrong - any ideas?

Doris User Running Windows 10 ... with a Ryzen 4000 series 5, and AMD Radeon gfx.

Program downloaded fine, and installed with no issues. However, when I try to run it in order to paste in the registration code ... it runs for a few seconds, and then it vanishes before I can do anything.

Constantin Florea @Asim User, The receipt email from BitsDuJour does not contain the registration information, it only contains the installer. You would have to install the application and during the installation process you can retrieve your registration information. If you tried that already and didn't receive it, then the vendor's suggestion in cases like this is that you try another email address to get the registration information from the vendor's servers.

This is becoming very annoying, Program zip-files promoted through you, tends to be deemed unsafe, hence downloading is interrupted frequently.
I have had this conversation with you a while back, but it seems you have not actually addressed the problem. I know I am not the only one and I wonder why this is still ongoing.
I run Windows 10, always the last update and with only Windows Defender, so I see no problems on my part.
Make sure providers certificates are updated or whatever it is that Windows react upon, or choose an other file format than zip-files. -exe -files seems not to have this affect on Windows
Make sure to store programs on your own servers instead, where you can have full control.
Please provide me with safe link to download this program and licence.

George Avery I downloaded and installed without any problem. What isn't clear as far as I can see during the process is that you have to start installing before you have any user/key. There's a button on the first installer screen something like "Click Here" which isn't very intuitive.

As for the software, I'll give it a fair try out. I've watched the tutorial a couple of times but I find the interface clunky and I think I'll be uninstalling in a day or two.

Sid B Scrolling back in these comments, in 2016 people had trouble installing and registering, in 2018 people had trouble installing and registering, and now, in 2021 people have trouble installing and registering.

That means in 5 years, the company has done nothing to address these issues.

But, more than that, the website shows the current version is 10! That puts this four generations behind.

Finally, one of the "benefits" of the Pro version is now that large files load faster. Seriously, a "pro" feature is file load time?

Constantin Florea @Claudius Bluesgoose, For quite some time now (many years), our storage servers have been using http:// and not https://. This may show on some systems, the messages you are referring to in your comment. My team is aware about this issue but so far we haven't migrated to https://. All our installers are safe to use in the sense that they are free from any adware/spyware/toolbars and this "safe to use" property, is not affected by the use of http:// (instead of https://).

Fantyparts Nope, that doesn't work. However, I did eventually manage to download the install file by using Firefox instead of Chrome. And whilst it then installed without too much grief, I haven't yet had much of a chance to explore the software's capabilities or performance. Stay tuned for potential harsh language later.

Kyle user Easy download, usual long registration - follow the instructions...

Used a very messy photo and did the cut and trace and WOW does it work!

This is a really good tool. Not sure what the Pro version would do but this one is a Pro in its own right.

Bruce Brent Constantin, I've received the e-mail for downloading the program and registration info. I've clicked the download link and nothing happens. I've clicked each link so many times it's now telling me I've clicked the link TOO MANY times!

Can you send a direct link that works as well as the code since the above hasn't worked.

Claudius Bluesgoose Dear mr Florea, Thx f your answer. I don't think BdJ is spreading any malware, but Windows Defender will not accept zip-files from http-sites. As you obviously is aware of this I find it most disrespectful that you still have not taken care of this yet. I don't care if you use http or https, but I find it your responsibility to provide a working link to flawless downloading, Not forcing us to search around for this, cursing BdJ for interrupted file transfers.

Doris User I don't think I would blame BJD for what's happening here. I've noticed over the years that any product offered by Franzis *always* has serious issues ... a long and unnecessarily complicated download/installation process, not enough clear information on how to make things happen, and lots of unhappy people. BJD ends up receiving the brunt of the subsequent issues ...

Personally, I think I'm going to avoid anything "Franzis" from here on out, no matter how good the product looks.

BTW ... I use the Vivaldi browser - exclusively, and had no problem downloading and actually installing the software after jumping through all of their hoops. That said ... the program shuts down before I can even try to get the registration in. It's obviously not a BJD issue ...

Constantin Florea @Bruce Brent, The receipt email you received contains the direct URL to the installer. You can use that direct URL to download the installer. I have also just sent you an email about this issue containing the direct installer URL.

Brian W What's up with the 1.3 GB zip file? The trial version exe on the site is 33.7 MB. Initially, I didn't pay attention but then I saw "why is that download taking so long?" Now I'm a bit curious what's in there. Did someone zip up a whole folder of programs, their entire MyDocs folder, or a photo/video program with lots of sample media or what? 14 min left.... cancel or continue? ..

Computer Person Brian W - It is 1.3 GB as it includes both Windows and Mac versions plus over 650MB of background images for each OS, plus pdf help file for each OS.

My problem is registering as it does not include registration information for the BitsDuJour purchase, only a link for a generic registration.

So, WHERE IS THE REGISTRATION INFORMATION - it is not in the confirming email?

SKY There are both WIN and MAC folders in that zip file but I think while WIN is a setup file, MAC has a Demo file in it as dwg. And the bulk is that in both these folders there are 100 background photos, each, but they are the same photos, so 100x2 @ 623MB, one of which is a waste obviously. No tricky stuff, just packaged for idiots, that's all.

Daniel User I downloaded as directed but have not received a license key. The email sent to me by BitsDuJour did not include a license key at all. The links provided NO registration information.
I am more than disappointed since I had uninstalled by verion 5 CutOut prior to installing version 8. Now I'm left with no working CutOut except a 15 day trial of version 8.

Computer Person Worst ever instructions.

At the bottom of the BitsDuJour confirming email, click the link for the alternative method. It is the only method, actually.

Then they send confirmation of registration and conform again for another email with the activation code.

The only thing worse than the instructions is the program itself. It sucks.

I don't know why they would not fix the BitsDuJour instructions other than they cannot write English or properly translate from their native German.

Yup, why extend the offer if you can't use it because the instructions are so poor. Or maybe that's why?

Constantin Florea The BitsDuJour receipt email does contain a registration URL. You need to go through that URL and register on the product website, to get the registration information.

If you will not receive the registration information after you have registered using the above registration URL, please consider using an email address with a more popular domain name, such as: @yahoo.com, @hotmail.com, @gmail.com, etc.

Daniel User Here's one option to create a desktop icon for CutOut8 in Windows 10 or 11:

Use your file manager (like File Explorer) to meander over to the following file: C:\Program Files\Franzis\CutOut 8\CutOut.exe.
Right click the file name "CutOut.exe" and choose "Create a shortcut." Drag that shortcut (its file name will be CutOut.lnk) to your desktop and you've got an icon upon which to click that will launch the program.

To add CutOut to your Start Menu or Taskbar, right click the icon you just created on your desktop and select "Pin to Start Menu" or "Pin to Taskbar" respectively. If those choices aren't available, select "Show More Options" to find them.
