What are people saying about Elegant Mediæval Fonts

Jan-Christoph Ihrens Can these fonts be used in commercial projects? Is it allowed to make webfonts of them using a generator (like the one from fontsquirrel.com) and use them in commercial websites?

Martin Kotulla You can use these fonts commercially as follows:

- for print
- embedded into PDFs
- in vector artwork when you break the text into curves
- in bitmapped artwork (for example, logos on web sites or in apps)

They are not licensed for use as webfonts. We also offer webfont collections, but this is currently not one of them.

Pavi Johnson Confusion!

So we can use these for website logos, but not in ebooks? Ie. for my ebooks website, but not in the ebook itself??

Online books on Kindle are kind of replacing print for independent authors.

Best, /Pavi

Martin Kotulla Pavi:

No confusion :-) See my first comment on this page:

If you want to use them in an e-book, for example for the title or for logos, use them inside images.

The problem for us with e-books is that the e-book building process adds the full font to the e-book file. Anyone can extract the font and use it for his or her own purposes. That's why we don't include e-books in the license.

George Butel Does your "webfont" limitation mean that I could not use your fonts, say, on a political meme, and then post the graphic on the internet? It looks as though I could use them as long as nobody sees them (except in print or pdf form--a rather severe limitation.) You say "in vector artwork" or "bitmapped artwork" is okay--so, depending on what I "save as," or which program I use to create my artwork, it's okay? It appears that what you are trying to say is that the font can be used however one wants as long as the font is not isolatable by an end user. Is that correct?
