What are people saying about EXIF Cleaner

Lee Anon Will this software clean an entire folder containing hundreds of photos (drag and drop the folder) or must photos be selected one at a time?

Thomas Klabunde Hi Lee Anon,
the software abylon EXIF CLEANER (current version) offers the possibility to select several images in one step. You can either choose a folder about the open-dialog or drag & drop into the window.

When you drag & drop you must be noted that the File Explorer and the program run in the same rights context. Because the File Explorer usually runs in the normal user context, so the software should be started WITHOUT admin rights.

Feel free to try it. The software abylon EXIF CLEANER can be tested for 30 days.

Tortuga @Thomas Klabunde, Hello :)
I know it's late, hope you can still answer
1. Is there a portable version or can the program be made portable? I am now moving all my programs into portable form, would MUCH prefer it is is!
2. It is not specified in the "Fine Print", want to confirm if the activation/register is hardware tied, if it phones home, etc
3. It can be installed on 2PCs _or_ 1PC & 1Laptop, right?
Thank You
Peace!

Thomas Klabunde Hi Tortuga,

to 1)
There is no particular portable version. But there should be no reason why the software can not be installed on a USB stick.

to 2)
The question I do not understand quite. Registration information will be stored on the PC / Labtop, but are not hardware bound.

to 3)
The free version for private use can be installed on as many computers as desired. In the commercial version of the software can be installed on the computer 3.

Thomas Klabunde Hi, thank you for ALL comments.

@Igor Zheliba: Thank you for testing in Windows 10. I would be happy, if you can write us the exaccly problems. Use this bdj-comments, our contact-form (http://www.abylonsoft.com/contact.htm) or the support-form (http://www.abylonsoft.com....htm#anker).

@User1: As already been written by Igor, all invitees images can be removed in a slip of the Exif information.

@Stephen: This is correct. In this version only Jpeg-files can be clean. But we think that Jpeg is the absolutely most commonly used picture-format. TIFFs are probably only rarely used, or am I wrong? The Raw format, we have not yet been studied.

Improvements in the current version include:
- In addition to the EXIF format now also meta-data in the XMP and IPTC format be cleaned.
- Selected Images can now be sent directly via the MAPI interface to the default e-mail program without taking a detour via the file explorer.
- Images can be reduced before the mail delivery. The reduction is given in percent of the file size of the original file.

Best
Thomas

Louis H @ Igor and Thomas.....

It works fine for me in build number 9926 of Windows 10 Technical Preview.

( Intel i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz 4.00GHz. 16 GB RAM. )

@ Thomas......

Is there any current way - or upcoming feature - to remove specific data from the EXIF while leaving other data intact? Sometimes I would like to leave some of the data.

Is there a current - or upcoming feature - to allow for saving the result as a copy of the original image while keeping the original image - with all data - intact? I would like to be able to strip the data from the image I post online, but keep a copy of the image with all the data intact for my own personal reference. As it is now, I have to remember to edit a copy of each image. It would be very helpful if the program offered an option to do this automatically when hitting the button to process the images.

For me, I would find adding support for other image formats VERY helpful. TIFF, BMP, PNG, Raw.... all are formats I use as often as I utilize the Jpeg format.

As it is, while certainly a helpful tool, it does not appear to offer full control over manipulation of the EXIF data. Including such options would make it, at least for my work, far more worth paying for.

Regardless of what the future may hold for this program, hanks for offering it here today for FREE!!! :-)

I have 64-bit version of Windows 10 TP build 9926. Only once after installing (as Administrator, of course) I was able to fill in registration information and sucessfully registered the software. All my next runnings of program both from desktop icon and from program's folder (as Administrator, of course) were stopped with error, something like "Impossible start 64...exe". Reinstallings didn't help.

I am running the same 64-bit version. I have tried with and without registering the program - both with and without Administrator option - and so far I have not received any errors. Sam User The program installed and registered fine.
However, the buttons at the bottom need to have their background color (or the color of the font) changed.
I could not read any of the buttons (navy blue buttons, and it seems that the font is of the same color), so I pressed the Tab key after entering the registration information, followed by pressing the Enter key.
Fortunately that worked.

The other most annoying things I have issues with:

Please remove the FacKebook (not a typo), Twitter, and Google Plus links. This is spamming, in my humble opinion.

I don't want anything to do with FakeBook, or the rest of them.
Not only you have the boxes checked, but you have the links permanently present in the program while it is running.

This is very annoying, and unusual for a registered program to be filled with such spam.
You may like FaKebook, Twitter, and Google Plus, but not everyone trusts these privacy abusers.

Thank you.

Dunking I purchased a license to this last year (in March, so not yet a year ago). I just checked for updates and it says there is one but if I upgrade I will need a new license key! Is that correct? There was no mention of a time limit when I purchased the license, and even if there was, it is usually at least a year.

[Later] I am wrong - seems it was purchased in February last year. The upgrade is 90% off or something, which seems attractive, but I can't find a mention of what is different between the current version and the one I have. Is that available?

Constantin Florea @Henry User, The "2 months license registration timeframe" refers to the fact that the registration code you receive in the receipt email can only be used within 2 months from promotion date to register the application. After those 2 months, the application can no longer be registered using that registration code however if you did register the application within those 2 months, then the application will remain registered.

You said: "In our application are no active elements to interact with social media such as Facebook or Twitter."

I'm not trying to give you a hard time here - but - if there are no ACTIVE elements to be able to INTERACT (in other words non-functional) with FaceBook, Twitter or Google ... then why even have exposure for those social garbage-invasion of privacy companies to be seen "anywhere" in your program?

Your program is supposed to be for removing EXIF Data. And since you make no money like other developers who include ACTIVE ELEMENTS for Twitter, FaceBook etc. doesn't make sense to have them mixed-in with your program.

As far as I understand - FaceBook automatically removes EXIF Data from photos that are uploaded. So - your program would not be necessary anyway for people who already have FaceBook Accounts.

You also said: " Because your (?) suggestion we have moved the buttons from the Gui in the help menu." --- My question is: Why not REMOVE them completely from your program (?) seeing that they are not functional to EXIF anyway. To me it doesn't make sense at all to keep things in a program that have no function other than to advertise them for some reason.

Thanks for your patience,
Ricky

Thomas Klabunde Hi Rick Rick,
I think through my inadequate English not all comments come as over how I meant it. Therefore, I will not go into all details well.

Links to Facebook, ... are not "active" elements. These are offered by us primarily to contact reasons. In addition, we use these channels also to draw attention to our other products. Today unfortunately no one can do without advertising. However, we put these extremely sparingly.

By "active" elements I rather meant adware or spyware.

Of course, it is also true that Facebook deletes the meta tags. Whether Facebook will assess them before deletion, however, written in the stars.

Deleting the meta tags can be useful in many cases, not mur in social media ...

Your last paragraph I do not understand.
abylonsoft - Feb 17 2016 at 11:13am Copy Link
0
Ricky Rick @ Thomas Klabunde

When you said that links to Facebook and Twitter are NOT active elements - I understood that to mean that if the Icon for either was clicked-on that it would not take a person to either Facebook or Twitter websites.

However - when I clicked the Icons for both - they did take me to both websites. However - I see that those links are for advertising your products on Facebook and Twitter.

If you want "ME" and many, many, many Tens of thousands of other people who will NEVER-EVER have a Facebook or Twitter or any other social media account -- it would be in your best interest to offer people a subscription to a monthly newsletter.

I would happily and gladly signup for a monthly newsletter that talks about your products and updates to products as I'm sure many other people would.

My suggestion. Take the Twitter and Facebook links out of EXIF and instead put a link so people could signup for a monthly newsletter that YOU email out - instead of forcing people to go to Facebook and Twitter which countless people absolutely do not like and will have nothing to do with them (them - meaning - Facebook and Twitter).

I for one will never again go to the Facebook or Twitter links in your EXIF program to learn about your other software. You will therefore lose sales from me for your other products. And you will also lose sales from countless other people as well.

Since your English is not so good - and you want to sell to and communicate with Americans and other English speaking people - perhaps you need a translator (a person who is fluent in both German and American English to help you out.)

All the best (and no disrespect intended just in case I came across that way in any of my posts).

All the best,
Ricky

Nigel Brewster Ricky that is just bizarre idea. I don't know which businesses you deal with but by them comments you just made, you never buy anything of the net? Your on here which contradicts your statement.
Your right that many people don't want to be on social media and that fine and maybe a newsletter is not a bad thing for you and other people who may never use it.

To say that to take it out of a program is ridiculous.

Ricky Rick @ Nigel

I don't see how being at BDJ contradicts anything I said. You misunderstand what I am saying to the software developer. Perhaps you did not read ALL my back and forth posts with him. HE speaks German as a first language and has a hard time putting "some" things properly in English.

Since he doesn't properly comprehend some of what I'm saying - part of his replies to me do not exactly make sense either and I was not exactly sure of what he meant by what he said.

And BTW I see you need help with YOUR English, too. Two times you said "your" when it should have been spelled "you're" aka "you are".

You also said: "by them comments". That is improper English, Nigel. It should be: "by your comments" or "by those comments" -- not "them" comments.

Since it would seem you also don't have a good grasp on proper spelling and grammar - I can see why you don't comprehend what I am saying to the developer. Perhaps English is not your first language either. And no - I am not trying to be a wise guy by what I said to you. Just pointing out the facts.

As for not buying anything on the net. I spend at a minimum $8,000 USD on the net every year - and usually a whole lot more.

About $3,000 of that money is spent on software. I only spend a teeny-weeny bit of that money here on BDJ for software. The rest is spent directly with the software developers themselves. I probably spend more on software - and test more software in 1 week than you do in 5 years.

I will not comment any further on this matter.

All the best to you, Nigel.

Nigel Brewster Ricky, I'll ignore most of your comments, "your not trying to be a wise guy" that's good because you failed. Your just been obnoxious and quite frankly rude to the vendor. Either use the product or don't, on a very silly issue your making mountains out of nothing.

So you think that you test more software than me in a week than I do in 5 years do you, haha. I can program fluently in 4 languages and can get by in another 7, so I think not.

Maybe you look here:
