What are people saying about FILEminimizer Suite

bandar alharbi I would recommend not buying this app

The company wants money only and does not care about the customer

I have three keys are disabled now and I bought one for $ 79

They tell you three times to activate only after which you must purchase a new key

For information on activation for the second time you write them and wait for the answer

Edward Smith Valentin Zemp, you state "single user license can only be installed once"
yet the "fine print" says "Each license allows installation on a single computer and a laptop." AND "Transfer of a license to another owned computer is allowed."

So which is it, what you said, or what is written?

Michael Sanderson This version 8.0 is superb. I tested it on a PDF file with fillable fields and all the work filling in was preserved perfectly. The file size went from 793kb to 136kb. Balesio will support you if you have any issues. I used the older version of the PDF minimizer and my problem was resolved quickly several years ago. I was very pleased to find this updated suite that will work for all my emailed attachments. I am a happy camper!

L. D. User Shame it only works on Windows versions up to Windows 8.1, as I probably would have purchased this if it had been designed to also run on Windows 10.

Oh well, hopefully their next major version will do so!

Eric Dear Balesio Developers,

Having just purchased & installed the product, here's an issue I ran into:

1. The current version of MS-Office is 2019

2. Odd enough, during the software's installation process, the MS-Office (integration-) Add-Ins suggest they are compatible up to MS-Office 2013 only (that's two releases back: 2016 & 2019) and for the PowerPoint part only up to 2010 (THREE releases back!)

Is this just an oversight of wording in the Setup routine? Or has the software not been tested (for over seven years!) with more current MS-Office versions?

Your clarifying input will be most appreciated.

Sincerely,

Eric

Did the add-ins work with Office 2019 once you finished your install?

Eric @Troy: Hi Troy,

I wouldn't know - given the info supplied by the Installer, and wishing to "play it safe", I deselected the MS-Office Add-Ins from being installed (not to create possible issues with the MS-Office software).

Hopefully a relevant answer will be provided here by the people of Balesio (or those of BitsDuJour) and we will all know how to proceed.

M K G Thanks Eric and Troy, for sharing your experiences.. I too have been wondering about the compatibility issues. The answer by the developer as definitely an answer, but not to the issue of compatibility with software later than 2015. It would really be helpful if a clear answer could be given about the compatibility to newer versions of windows and office and as to why the descriptions only refer to older versions.

Eric As, for whatever reason, the people at Balesio haven't so far replied to our concerns expressed in this thread, I tried to phone-contact them (using the number published above by Marc Anderson).

Regretfully, all my attempts failed too (no answer ...)

@Troy: while not an encouraging sign when the end-user has to do the debugging and provide support, I guess all of us will be grateful to learn what your findings were :) Thanks!

@Constantin Florea: maybe you could have the people at Balesio share their insights in this conversation?

Eric OK - Update:

I finally got in touch with someone at Balesio and got a promise from him to have someone answer all the compatibility concerns a.s.a.p., hopefully today (despite their having only a few people at their Office now, due to the COVID19 and the end of the week timing).

Let's hope for the best :)

Eric Dear Bernard,

Thanks for the input as well as for the pleasant talk of a few minutes ago.

Could you just -- as we have spoken about -- have someone enter here the answers to the various compatibility questions people asked, namely:

* Is the product Win10 compatible?

* Will the Add-Ins work correctly with MS-Office 2019 (and its predecessors: 2016, 2013)?

Vielen Dank,

Eric

Eric @Lewis Everall:

Thanks for the couple of compatibility replies.

In view of which, you may wish to update the product's Installer, to reflect this information (as stated before, during the Setup process, the Installer suggests that the Add-ins are only compatible up to MS-Office 2013 for most components, and up to 2010 for MS-PowerPoint).

Also, if the End-User installed the product with the Add-Ins DEselected (due to compatibility concerns), how is [s]he to proceed to add the Add-Ins now?

Thanks again,

Eric

TROY User Hello Everyone,
I purchased and installed the FileMinimizer Suite on my Windows 10 PC. I am using Office 365 and the add-ins loaded with no problems.

The issue I am having is when I use the add-in, the result after running the FileMinimizer is 'SORRY, WE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS FILE FORMAT." The file was a 10.5MB .pptx (PowerPoint 365 - latest version)

I also attempted to reduce the file size of several GIFs ranging from 3MB up to 35MB using the stand-alone FileMinimizer and they all failed to be reduced in size. I tried all of the compression settings and they all resulted in no file size reduction. This is really disappointing!

I will try several other file types using the add-in and the stand-alone FileMinimizer but so far this is not good.

Eric @Troy:

Hi Troy,

As stated before, I also installed the Suite on a Win10-x64 PC (without the Add-Ins, as I was not sure -- at the time -- if they are compatible with MS-office 2019).

I did try to minimize, standalone, a few JPG, PDF & Docx files (from the right-click context menu, in File Explorer).

For as long as the software recognized the file (more on this in a moment), it had no trouble minimizing it, with easy gains of 65%-97%.

The Suite "struggled" however to recognize files the name of which was not in Latin characters (say: Hebrew, Georgian, ...): in such instances, it would assume the name characters are "?" and the original file's size null ("0") - which, of course cannot be further minimized ...

Actually, while both issues originate in the original file's name, I guess there are TWO issues here:

1. The software probably works with ASCII characters and not Unicode, and
2. It somehow prevents working when the name of the file is not understood.

Hope this helps.

All the best,

Eric

TROY User Thanks Chris. You have been very helpful.

As for FileMinimizer, The purpose of the software is to save space and time. Having to rename and fiddle with file names and conventions is really not in the best interest of a consumer looking for efficiency. :-(

Hopefully the developer will respond with further clarification or at least validate your findings.

Troy.
