Nick Kobe Just purchased the software and installed it. Looks great! Good value and more than worth the price. Like the interface. Simple and straight forward. Look forward to seeing where the updates to the software take the product. I've been using SystemSuite and though it has functionality that goes beyond the Glary Utilities the Glary Utilities are much better organized and intuitive the SystemSuite. Many thanks for offering this software.

Tom Colvin I downloaded the free version of this software just one week ago, and it solved my problem with booting up. Very satisfied.

BUT I still cannot understand the difference between the free and paid versions, even though I've looked through your website. As a retiree who does lots of home computing, is there a benefit for me in the paid version?

Tom Colvin Peter, thanks for your prompt reply. I just purchased Gleary PRO. I did so for these reasons:

1 -- yr prompt reply and consideration of my retiree status. That's very nice of you. I bought it at the Usual Bits du Jour discount price, which is fair enough for me.

2 -- Your product already solved a major problem for me just a week ago, even before I knew about the Bits du Jour discount -- already saving me time and energy.

3 -- The promise of your FORUM for Pro users. I foresee that becoming a major information resource for me on future problems that might arise.

4 -- I've read so many glowing reports about your application for so many years now that I simply think you deserve some compensation for your efforts at creating such a world-standard product.

QUESTION: Should I download a fresh version today? Or can I just use your unlock code on the version I downloaded and installed a week ago?

SO THANKS!!!

Joshua Cowan Can anybody who has used both the free and pro versions confirm whether or not the comparison list at the link posted here (http://www.glaryutilities...rison.html) is exhaustive?  From reading the "upgrade" link,

   http://www.glaryutilities...ag=upgrade

it would seem there are additional features besides the scheduling/automation features listed on the comparison page.  Are there additional tools/tweaks in the pro version?

Also, what is the license policy? Will one license cover both my desktop and my laptop?  Is it easy to transfer the license to a new machine?

Thanks,

SoftCollector Thanks, Peter!

I have read through the detailed differences, but I do not feel they would necessarily command the price tag. The free version seems to have everything needed. 1-click optimization is a dangerous thing and I would not use it anyway. Automatic updates would be nice, yes. Everything else is expendable.

But on a different note, if one likes the software, he should help with development costs, so paying is the correct option.

Kind regards,
SC

Joe M I looked at this program a few months ago Like you Brian. The only real difference I saw then is the the Pro version gave you tech support. The registry repair program kept find the same thing to repair. I stop using the program. The registry defrag program mess up my task bar icons. I will never try that part of the program again.
If you are going to use the program, just stay with the free version.

1. What type of end user license comes with thissoftware?

2. Can you install on a desktop and laptop (as long as only 1 computer is used at a time)?

3. Or is it strictly one install on one PC?

Software Babe This is the PRO version. There is a FREE version. So, the PRO version does more, I think, although I have explored their website and have not found, as yet, a COMPARISON between the two.

But, I actually like REVO uninstaller, which does all this and more, and there is a portable version. But, I may just buy this one if anyone can answer the questions here.

VLM I have the same inclination. This is a rather well-known software suite, it's the Pro version, and it comes with lifetime updates (according to the Policy tab). But as disenchanted has already pointed out, the Policy tab is a bit lean today.

peter schleifer Danny, you're incredible - thank you for giving me a very good laugh! (Or did I misunderstand you, the "free" not with regards to "licence", but you possibly meaning to be willing to pay, for another licence including free lifetime upgrades? Such a move I'd happily back! ;-) )

Peter, I'd be interested in the answer of Jeanne's question, too? Will I have to install, on 3 pc's, today, or can I wait, for 2 of them, until using them next time? (Or some days at least?)

This being said, I traditionally use CCleaner and Wise Registry Cleaner: CCleaner is "rubbish", considered with WRC, just first run CC, then WRC, and you'll see for yourself.

Now for WRC vs GUP here: First, let's bear in mind, the former is freeware, whilst the latter is a giveaway of paid sw, so it should be much better even, indeed.

Then, some people who know both paid offerings, say, Glary's even better. But anyway, I've been very pleased with WRC (=free) yet, so I certainly will be tremendously pleased with this giveaway, so thank you very much for this offering! (And yes, if there is some upgrade offering at reasonable price, after first year, I'll be willing to profit from that!)

(And no, I did NOT mix up things here: WRC (free) is really good stuff yet (whilst being from another developer); Glary (paid version, normally) is said to be better than, or at the very least equal to, the WRC paid version, so by all logic, "Glary paid", here for free, is a MUST download! ;-) )

VN I just installed this, updated to v4.8, & entered the registration code emailed by BitsDuJour. Contrary to the "The Fine Print" on this website which says "After you purchase Glary Utilities PRO it may be used indefinitely.", the software says that the licence will expire in 367 days. So, who is right?
Mar 18 2014 at 8:30am Copy Link

shablah I got my registration code by email, but I see no way to enter it into the program's interface. The program shows a different code and says it's a trial for 30 days. How can I change that code to the 12-month code from this Bits Du Jour offer, please? Thank you very much.

Software Babe Here is what I received when I downloaded the software here:

"Make sure to input the registration info exactly as it is shown below
Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for 12 months. For versions after that, upgrades will require additional payment, which will not be discounted."

WHAT IT DOES NOT SAY IS IF IT GOES BACK TO THE FREE VERSION.
I guess it just doesn't get any upgrades/new versions. You can use the software for as long as you want, but after 12 months, it will NOT auto-update itself.

peter schleifer Again, I'm comparing a free product (from Wise) with a (regularly) paid one, but:

- I can confirm some difficulty with "Activate" and "Refresh", but after doing it two times, it worked fine, it's Prof now, not Trial anymore.

- I'm VERY pleased with this product, it discovered a 4-digit number of unnecessary entries in my registry, etc., of which I had been aware before, but which I hadn't been able to discard with the (again, free) Wise product.

- GU is WAY faster than the (free) Wise product: just some seconds for analysis of MUCH more things, than several minutes for the Wise thing; presumably, this very evident difference in speed could also be replicated by a comparison of the paid versions.

- On top of this, there are lots of "Advanced Tools", among them a defragment tool. Up to now, I had used Defragger, but was very unhappy with it, since it's free but clearly substandard, and so I was going to check for a better defragmenter anyway. Perhaps the one included here, in GUP, will be really good? At least, it cannot be beaten by Defraggler, I suppose, so it should be a viable intermediate solution, at the very least.

- I very much hope the license is per user? If it is not, I probably won't update 2 of my 3 computers in one year (I don't use them often enough), but I certainly will update my working pc: This is a very fine piece of software!

(And now I'm going to download 2 other licenses for my shelf computers, too, in the light of the absence of info re licenses... ;-) )

BearPup Just wanted to leave a comment on the software. It may not get the same hype that some of the other utilities out there (like IObit and Wise), but it is a truly all-in-one program. Best features are its Junk Cleaning and Software Updating modules.

If you elect, you can have the program monitor and let you know when any, repeat any, of your software gets an update. When such an update is found, an icon alerts you in your system tray. I also like how much control the software gives you. I like to be in total control of utility software, and Glary runs everything by me first; or you can do the total automation of one-click maintenance.

Yes, I think its that good - I have a lifetime license!

Mark Johnson This is a great giveaway. Glary Utilities is worth the regular price; it is amazing to be able to get it for free!

To those having problems registering the software:
On the very bottom of the main screen of the program is a link (says 'PRO' on it).
That will open the License Manager.
Click the link that says 'Refresh'.
Enter the new details, and click the activate button.

Ron Cavin @Constantin Florea - TThanks for the help; downloaded, installed and registered with no problem. It turns out the actual download is 13+ Mb, not 11 as the stalled download indicated. Maybe it stalled because the file got cut short somewhere along the way? Not important now anyway, as it's installed and working well. Glary Utilities has always been a favorite, glad to get the Pro version at such a bargain price!

Tom Colvin I have downloaded and installed the program. Then I promptly refreshed with license screen with the license code sent to my email inbox. The license continues to read Trial Version. I have repeated the process several times, with same results.

Ron Cavin I've been using Glary Utilities for years, and activating my various versions for years, not to mention activating programs from Bits du Jour, so I thought I knew how to do it, but after reading Tom Colvin's comment I double checked my installation, and damned if it doesn't say I also have only a thirty day trial!
I'm tired of these download and activation glitches, I'm removing the Pro version and going back to the Free one I had before I started all this mess this morning.
I doubt that I'll be coming back to Bits du Jour any more in the future, it was a good site for a while but there have been too many of these kind of problems lately.

So come on people, what is going on and why did you not allocate enough licenses?

There is still over 22 hours to go and experiences like this don't encourage me to buy a vendor's products, they just convince me to go for a competitors product instead.

Jym Ferril I followed your instruction “Click on manage license and hit refresh , That is after the install , in the lower left when you open the program .” I then entered my license code, and it was accepted.
Now when I click on “Manage License”, it reports my license number, but lists the program as a “Trial Version”; it does indicate 366 days left with an expiration date of 6/22/17.
Is this the correct way the license should be listed?
Since the promotion indicates the program is licensed per user, may the program be installed on a second machine operated exclusively by the same user?
Thanks,

The "Get it for free" button should bring you to a glary utilities webpage where you can insert your email and ask for the license key.
Then it will ask you the password (practically, you should register to their website).
Then, you will see the list of your license keys under License - License codes.
I got: Glary Utilities Pro --- 1 --- Buy now
Click the 1 (that's a link) and it will display your license key information (number of the key, devices quantity, end time).

Open glary utilities main interface and click the "free" word near the version number on the bottom-right corner of glary utilities main interface, it should open the window where you can insert your email and your license key.

Jim Buchanan I'm not sure if this is a good comment or a bad one. I had this a long time ago and never got to use its potential. The reason was support. What I would like to see is some way for a person like me to figure out how the way things work. For instance, I just had a problem with "Startup Monitor". Now, this should be easy, right? Nope. I started the monitor, was able to print out a screenshot of my startups and proceeded to figure out which ones I wanted to disable. I figured all I had to do was get the wee bubble to the off position like MS has in its System Protocols. I could not figure out how to get the little bubble from the on position to the off position. I went to the website and hunted around for some hint but there is nothing there that I can find. Hence, the reason why I failed to use it to its real potential. One can't get support with this giveaway and I kind of wondered what kind of support I would get if I had paid for it. Because I don't know what each part does, I am likely to just shelve the whole thing. Not sure yet. Maybe the rest of you guys can decipher the thing but I don't have the best glasses for detailed work. Ffrom what I've read about the program it has always been excellent. Guess I'm a slow learner.

jman I have Win10 Homex64 and it works fine. I have used this program on and off for years and it always has served me well. Most often, I use the "1-click Maintenance" though unchecking the "Registry Cleaner" as I do not want anything touching the registry and also the "Disk Repair" as I don't want that for an SSD. I then run it with the other 5 categories checked, always looking over the results and selecting/deselecting accordingly before allowing it to clean them. It is much less invasive then some other programs I have used and I like it that way. There are some good things under the "Advanced Tools" as well. Just pay attention to what you are doing and deleting or changing and you shouldn't have a problem.

Thank you Glarysoft and BDJ!

Rod User Is it 12 months and than you can't use it at all, or 12 months and no updates but you can use the last version you have?

Also, single user license [can use on all your computers] or single computer license [can only be used on one computer]?
Oct 22 2022 at 8:42am Copy Link

CFGuy @Rod User - All good questions! Subscription-based software for maintenance-type programs is the norm these days, and more widely accepted than other types of software (of which more and more seem to be attempting to switch users over to "subscription-based" models). In regards to the questions of "how many computers may it be installed on?" - the EULA states "Glary Utilities PRO is licensed per user" - which would typically mean the "user" is able to install the software on all owned computers (otherwise, it should read "licensed per computer"), however we do really need some clarification on this. Looking over the EULA one thing that I though was particularly unappealing is "Support is not provided", as well as "You must install/register the software while the promotion is active, and cannot do so afterwards." Which is giving me an idea that this EULA might have originally been designed for a "giveaway"/free version of the program on a prior promotion here on BDJ, and perhaps the developer never updated the EULA for :purchased" software. I am going to reach out to company and request clarification, as the software is generally rated highly in independent reviews, and the price is very reasonable (especially if it allows installation/activation on all owned computers). We'll see if we can get some clarification ...

Rod User Spent some time on their website seems their standard is 3 PCs at one time. There seems to be implied language that you can transfer licenses during "active" periods to other computers.

Though I could find nothing on if it's a true subscription or if you can keep using it without updates past the 12 months.

The wording of only being able to transfer during active periods makes me think that the license and updates may become locked after 12 months, and perhaps you could still use it, but nothing seems to actually say.

Antonia After you purchase Glary Utilities PRO, you can use the latest pro version for 12 months.

Antonia The valid service period of the license code is ONE YEAR, and you can use one license code on your 3 PCs. After 1 year you can continue or cancel your subscription, but this does not affect your ability to update the software to the latest version. The difference is only whether you continue to use the pro or free version.

Rod User Website link is broken.

Review: I used to love Glary's, but I find their pricing is overkill now. Windows is vastly more stable and even at $15 a year it's too high. They should consider going to a major version update system and doing major versions every 3 years. I'd easily pay $15 every three years for them, but any more than that and I'd rather use other tools in the modern day.

Jim Buchanan The 'Features' say "Download available for: Windows 8, 7, 2000, XP, Vista - 32 and 64 bit". So this must mean it is no good for Windows 10 or 11. Right or wrong.

Antonia Hi, Glary Utilities also supports win10 & win11. The information displayed on the platform is outdated, and we will modify it.

Antonia Thank you for your inquiry. The license code is valid for one year. After one year, the license will expire, and Glary Utilities Pro will revert to the free version, allowing users to continue using all the features of the free version.

Antonia After the 12-month license period, the software will still be functional. However, the license will expire, causing Glary Utilities Pro to automatically revert to the free version. Users can continue using all the features available in the free version without any disruption.

Software Seeker Hello, I couldn't find any information on your website about where your company is located. This looks kind of iffy to me. I wish you would be open about this.

HJ B I purchased this today and installed it. It took the place of my existing Glary Utilities App.

1. That resulted in four emails being received concerning the app. One advised me that my subscription cost was being "updated" from $11.98 to 15.98. I would like clarification on this since I expected to get a better rate via BDJ than I would otherwise be entitled to.

2. More important. I used Thunderbird email. My inbox and various folders for Thunderbird go back more than a decade. To my horror, I found that immediately after running this new installation of Glary Utilities Pro, I opened my Thunderbird app, and it asked for my credentials. It then commenced to download all of my POP account messages (going back two weeks), as though it was a new installation. All of my prior messages and folders no longer appeared in the app window. I then checked my C directory for the Thunderbird message folder, and it appears that all of that gigabytes of messages appear to be there (although I do not know if the inbox has been overwritten). There is no doubt in my mind that Glary overwrote whatever file provides directions to Thunderbird, with the result that the pre-existing email files and folders are not being recognized.

I have no idea how to get Thunderbird to operate as it did before the new Glary installation, and recognized all of the pre-existing (and still existing folders).

Antonia Hello, thank you for your support of Glarysoft. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

The $11.98 is the renewal price for long-time users from a while ago, as they were eligible for this special discounted rate due to a promotion at that time. However, we don't offer this discount anymore, and the current 60% off is already a substantial discount.

Regarding the Thunderbird email issue you mentioned, I have forwarded it to our technical department. I will provide you with further information once they respond. Alternatively, you can submit specific logs or screenshots to supportglarysoft.com for additional assistance.

HJ B @Antonia

You suggest "submit specific logs or screenshots to supportglarysoft.com for additional assistance." I have no guess as to what you are suggesting I submit. I started out with Thunderbird having many subfolders with email going back more than a decade. I ended up with Thunderbird starting from scratch and xcreating a new email inbox and downloading the past two weeks of emails to the new inbox. All prior folders and emails are missing from the Thunderbird interface. The underlying files and folders still exist on my c-drive. I have no idea as to how to get back to where I had been before the new installation of the Glarysoft utilities.

I will wait to hear from your technical department. In over 40 years of computing I have not previously had such a result after installing a system utility.I am concerned about trying to remedy the problem, on my own, since I do not know if the former inbox file was overwritten.

From time to time, over the years, I have upgraded the Thunderbird software and it has always interfaced with the existing files and folders. This time, it was the Glarysoft installation that caused the creation of a new Thunderbird installation, with the result I have described.

bvssunnydale Hi, good product. I'm surprised under "fine print" that support isn't provided, as one of the few differences listed on GlarySoft's "free/pro comparison page" between the free and "Pro" product is that support IS provided, Not that I've ever needed support, because it really is a very intuitive product.
