By now, we've all grown accustomed to the extraordinary level of convenience afforded to us by Gmail and Google Apps. No matter where we are, if we can get to an internet browser, we can get to our email messages, documents, and spreadsheets, and work on them from.wait, what do you mean Gmail's down? And now my password isn't working! What do you mean you deleted that important message?

The truth of the matter is, if you're heavily reliant on Gmail and Google Apps, you're counting on the service being available and accessible when you need it. Why not offer yourself an extra layer of reassurance by creating local backups of your stuff using Gmail Keeper?

Gmail Keeper provides you with an easy way to maintain automated, scheduled local backup copies of everything in your Gmail and Google Apps accounts. Just set Gmail Keeper to run daily, weekly, or monthly, and the program takes care of everything else for you. Not only will Gmail Keeper backup and restore all of the folders in Gmail (Inbox, Sent Mail, All Mail, Starred, and Drafts), it will also protect all of the labels that are associated with your email messages. Backup archives are saved in an open file format that can be opened with Outlook Express, Outlook, Thunderbird, and other programs!

Those of you who maintain more than one Google account will jump for joy with Gmail Keeper! Gmail Keeper can be used to backup multiple accounts in one shot, and you can migrate your data from one Google account to another with ease.

So, the next time Gmail's down for maintenance just as you need to pull up an important email or document, don't wring your hands in frustration - just pull up your Gmail Keeper backup copy and rejoice!

John Finkelstein I am sorry if this comes off as rude, but I am intrigued with your product, and I wondered how does his differ from using a Pop3 to donwload and archive that way? All those apps you list could natively do the POP3.

Sune Magnberg Hi,
I'm getting confused about the price. It is advertised as 9.95 USD but when I want to place my order it suddenly becomes 11.95 USD and on top of that there is Extended Download Service at 2.89 USD which seems to be obligatory. Please clarify matters.
Regards,
Sune

Edwin Yip Hi John,

Good question. With Pop3 protocol you can access the Inbox folder only and you cannot backup the other folders such as Sent, starred, etc, not to mention backing up the labels.

More over, Gmail Keeper can do the backup automatically on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, without the need of manually operations. In other works, Gmail Keeper is specifically developed for the purpose of backing your emails and labels in your Gmail (and Google Apps email) account, while the other mail clients are serving as their own purposes.

Hope this is clear.

Edwin Yip Hi,

Before the people at bitsdujour.com correct the purchase link, you can always input the coupon code yourself mentioned above, note that it's the second page where you can input the coupon after you clicking on the purchase page. Thanks.

Bron Faison Just purchased GateKeeper. Installed in 2 minutes, configured in 2 minutes and I was then immediately able to backup my gmail account.

Very simple, very well done. Easy to use and works great. I was a software developer myself, and I really like simple, cheap tools like this. Good job!

If you want a simple, easy way to backup your gmail account, I can recommend this - a a great deal at thsi price.

Edwin Yip I'm glad to hear that you like Gmail Keeper, Bron.

BTW, it's called Gmail Keeper, not GateKeeper :)

Martin Chou I just purchased Gmail Keeper as well. Got it up and running quickly and migrated my gmail account without a problem.

Thanks for such a great product.

Note: I just realized I paid $11.94 USD for it when it should be $9.95. Is there any way to get the difference back?

Edwin Yip Hi Martin,

Thanks for your kind words.

As for the price, you should have selected the 'Extended download service' provided by the payment processor. We'll ask the payment processor how to handle you request anyway. here is the description of that service:

EDS means that with the purchase of your digital product, we'll keep a copy of your file for ONE FULL YEAR. You'll gain peace of mind knowing that we have your program stored and ready for you to download again at your convenience once your computer is up and running again.

Sabrina Pedron Hi Edwin, Referring to your past reply to John Finkelstein (" With Pop3 protocol you can access the Inbox folder only and you cannot backup the other folders such as Sent, starred, etc, not to mention backing up the labels), I would ask a question before purchaising the innovative Gmail Keeper: I need to backup my Gmail 4-year archive locally. Actually I read and send emails through Gmail panel remotely. If I am not wrong, pratically, it seems I cannot backup locally Sent folder but only the Inbox one (together with attachments no matter their nature). Is there some news to avoid this problem? Thanks for your attention.

Thomas O'Duffy Please advise - this says 40% off @ $11.97, but when I click the link, it comes up as $35 USD including the extended download service???

Edwin Yip @Thomas, I'm afraid Gmail Keeper is not promoting on bitsdujour.com today. You can buy it at the regular price however, and you can remove the 'Extended Download Service' item on the order form.

ron r How can you accomplish the following:

"...Make sure the target account is not sending/receiving email during restore..."

The sending of email I can off course control myself by not sending any email during restore. But the receiving part I do not understand a gmail account can always receive mail through google?

Or is there an option to temporarily turn off sending/receiving?

Thank you

Edwin Yip @Ron,

That statement is out of date. Don't worry about that with the current version of Gmail Keeper.
