What are people saying about HDR projects Standard

Justine Jordan Where does the original price come from because the website link only shows the price in euros and the 149 shown would not currently convert to near $180? This link http://www.hdrpro.co/en/h...07680.html lists the price as $149 US.

projects-software the original street-price is 149 EUR. http://www.hdrpro.co/en/h...07680.html is not a valid source by the franzis publishing house. price differs may vary due to different currencies / time-stamps.

Justine Jordan Thanks but it still does not explain the $180.90 price that is the base used for the markdown. As I indicated initially, 149 EUR is not going to convert to that amount. The euro is not currently worth more than the U.S. dollar, it is worth less so making it 1-to-1 is generous. Making it more is highly inaccurate. The discount is around 54% using the 149 EUR price as the base.

Constantin Florea When determining which prices we show for a promotion, we browse to the Buy Now link used during the promotion and use the prices we see in there.

The regular price of $180.90 was the price we noticed when we started setting up the promotion. I have just browsed to the Buy Now link again and noticed the price is slightly lower this time: $176.88. I updated this price into the promotion page. There is also a note in the buy page for this promotion which states:
Please note: the USD price of $176.88 is based on a regular price of EUR 145. This price may vary slightly depending on currency exchange rates.

The e-Commerce we're using during this promotion is Cleverbridge. The regular price is determined by the currency exchange rate used by Cleverbridge.

The discounted price of $69.00 is fixed meaning that it does not depend on any currency exchange rates.

Justine Jordan Actually I was totally wrong. The euro is higher than the USD on the chart I was using so the correct figure for me rounded off $165. But it is apparently irrelevant since the price is fixed at $69. At least I now understand why I sometimes see the same Franzis product discounted with differing original prices.

I apologize for bringing my confusion here today and thanks for your time.

Louis H For a review of 20 different HDR programs....

http://captainkimo.com/hd...omparison/

Be aware that He reviews HDR Projects 2, AND he is partial to another company's program. Nonetheless it might help folks get a feel for what is out there and how this program's previous version compares.

Here is the link for comparing the differences between HDR Projects 2 and 3...

http://www.projects-softw...-features/

If my budget could afford it, I would pick this one up as the changes and additions to Version 3 indicate this company is dedicated to it's current and future development.

Bertie Brummel The link provided by Louis H lists Photomatix Pro 5 as top notch tool. A quick research shows, that both tools are distributed by Franzis. What is the difference between them?

Roger Booton Ashampoo have a better version of this for half the price
Jul 4 2015 at 4:51am Copy Link

Louis H @ Roger Booton.

First off... Thank you for alerting me to the fact that there is a version available through Ashampoo!

I am trying the trial versions for both the Ashampoo and the BDJ versions. While the Ashampoo Elements version is cheaper, (I was given a member's price of 19.99 USD - non member price 69.00 USD) it also has fewer options and features than the Standard version being offered at BDJ today. It's similar to the difference between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. Both of those programs are quite powerful, but Full Photoshop is capable of so much more than PS Elements.

I can definitely swing $20 and will most likely pick up a copy from Ashampoo. This will allow me to take more time and do a better comparison and then determine if the more advanced versions would be worth the purchase at a later date if such a discount becomes available again.

After less than 30 minutes of playing around with the trial versions of both, I like what I am seeing. I simply cannot afford to go with the $69 discounted version offered here today at BDJ. (Although I would say that the program is worth it.)

A MAJOR difference is that the BDJ Standard version offers built in processing of RAW files. This is not an option in the Ashampoo Elements Version. Since I do all of my RAW file processing in either Lightroom or ACR (Adobe Camera Raw), this is not a necessary feature for me to have. Nonetheless, it is a NICE feature to have the option for. It allows you to bring the image into the program without having to first take it into another. Since I am not a professional, and also retired, saving time with my workflow is not a necessity.

Another difference is that the BDJ Standard Version did want to install plugins into Photoshop. The Ashampoo Elements version did not. Heads up, however, for folks who want/need this feature - it did not recognize Photoshop CC 2015. It looked for CC 2014 and earlier. I was able to manually install the plugin. It allows you to export the image to the BDJ Standard version. It would make more sense - or perhaps be more valuable - if this plugin worked with the Elements version. (Although once can certainly set up Photoshop to do this without a premade export plugin.)

One serious Con, for me at least, is the lack of an in-program help file.I could find no specific manual - even online as a pdf - for the Elements version. You can download a very basic 21 page manual for the BDJ Standard version. Most of that does apply to the Elements version as well. I would still prefer a more extensive manual.

I just noticed that licensed copies of the Elements version can UPGRADE to the Standard version for 49 Euro, so that is a plus.

http://www.projects-softw...-upgrades/

Hope some of this helps someone.

Summary - If I had the $69 today, I would make the purchase. Since I do not, I will go with the Ashampoo version and upgrade at a later date.

Thanks to BDJ and Franzis for bringing this program to my attention!

Nigel User If anyone is sitting on the fence with this program, should I or should I not buy it. At this price it's a steal, I bought it last time it was offered on here, I'm not really into HDR but this program doesn't overdo it and really does bring boring photos to life. All these were done with this program and all were dull photos https://www.flickr.com/ph...1773397989 I'm not affiliated in any way, just very impressed with this program.

which is supposed to be made available but was not. EMail receipt only provides download link.

Kyle user @Glen Stoughton....the process is not very intuitive...Open the download which opens the software registration screen....the select the Internet button on that screen. Your web browser will open and ask you to register an account email....

I know by now you are frothing at the mouth...but hang in there......

Enter your email details and you then receive an email with the software code, the Personal user id and the registration code...

Looonnnnnggggg process but worth it!

BTW I'm an avid user of Franzis software - NOT associated with them.

Heidi-Ann Kennedy-Fourkiller I wont even try on this offer. So I'll repeat this comment I have written before:

For some odd reason their auto server for reg. codes wont send to my domain e-mail. It's not as I have stated to them a dozen times not going to a "Spam" box! I can and do receive e-mail from them, just not reg. codes. I have tried several times to discuss this with them, yet they fail in every aspect of customer service to look into the issue. Oh there is an account and it says I have all this software from them, yet I have not once ever received a code. E-mail is right, e-mail is good, and nothing going to spam. Too bad for them, I buy graphic programs.
One pist off person,

Bizz Mark I had the same problem. Jumped through ALL the Hoops, Finally got the user ID and Code, got it installed when it asked for a Serial Number, which NEVER has arrived.

Without the Serial Number, after all that busy work, the software is DEMO ONLY and good for a 30 day TRIAL.

I could have gotten that with a single click of the button on their website rather than this convoluted process.

BitsDuJour and Franzis should be ashamed!

Glenn Stoughton The Serial # is the same as the Registration Code #. The registration process is a tad convoluted but it all worked out for me by restarting the program, entering in the personal info to receive future mailings, then plugging in the subsequently mailed keys. Looks to be a great HDR program.

Doris User First try: Okay ... I jumped through all of their hoops (ALL of them!) and *finally* got to install the program. Once installed, it told me that I had "30 days remaining", and was asking me for a "Serial Number". I went back to the activation email and found a user ID number, and a registration code, and the program won't accept either one of them.

Second Try: I sent for the code again, and I ran the program again, and cut/pasted the numbers I was sent. Still didn't work.

Third Try: I sent for the registration code a third time. I put the registration number into where it's asking for a serial number (?), and it again told me that I needed to put in the right number.

I should add that the requester came up behind my email client and my browser on the first try, and I ran the program again before realizing it was there. Not sure of which requester I input the numbers - first or second run.

These people make things so complicated, that it's really hard to understand what they want, and how to go about making it happen. The same sort of thing happened with a previous program I got from them.

Constantin Florea @Rustem Faz, Please read the Instructions section in the receipt email. Those instructions are the following:
"
During the installation you will be able to get your registration information for this product by filling in a registration form.
"

So you would have to follow the steps in that registration form in order to get your assigned registration information.
