What are people saying about HyperLens

xCurt How can this program be so expensive? You make it sound as if it is just another magnifying glass!

Albert C. OMFG @ the price!!!
May 24 2010 at 12:26am Copy Link
Roger Thomasson @ Curt, Albert Not sure I follow you here -- as far as I can tell most of the web copy is devoted to explaining why this is *not* "just another" magnifying glass :-)   That said, I tweaked the copy a bit, hopefully the functionality of this software is more clear.  Also, if you need more information, please take a look at the actual product website: .  There are far more details there than we have the capability of providing on our BDJ page. It's true, not everybody holds a position that requires regular presentation work.  But if you've ever had to deal with the inconsistencies of projectors and lighting environments (not to mention accurate representation of minute details in diagrams, graphs, etc) when giving a presentation, I think that the value of HyperLens becomes very apparent!
BitsDuJour Admin - May 24 2010 at 1:36am Copy Link
David Hsia Hi Curt, HyperLens is definitely NOT just another magnifying glass. For example, while presenting some highly detailed technical drawings, you can simply use Ctrl + Mouse Wheel to zoom, or at the same time, use Ctrl + Shift + Mouse Wheel to rotate any portion or the full of your presentations, thus effectively present every detail from any angle of your designs to all of your audiences! If the above are still not enough, there are different color modes, full color adjustments, sharpening filters, mouse cursor enhancements, eye-catching click highlighting effects, etc. All ready for your use, simply for EFFECTIVE presentation! HyperLens is specially designed to help our customers or their teams to easily produce much more profits than its price. If you will think so, it should not be so expensive as you described. Finally, the Free Trial is 5.27 MB only. If interested, you may have a try in minutes.

Louis H Very nice program and if I had to make presentations within the context of a professional environment I can see where today's price would be a great bargain. It is indeed a LOT more than a "magnifying glass."

I also see potential within the context of the type of graphical work i do, but sadly do not have even the discounted amount available at the present time. If I did, however, I would pick it up today.

P.S. Simply because I cannot afford a program does not mean that it is overpriced! It seems that some folks tend to assume that every program offered is done so by folks who are rolling in money and have lots of "free" time to write, revise, and support their products without the need to pay for the necessities of Life!  Great little program!

Frank Stephens Well, VisionSuit has every right to raise their product's price and sell it as a "premium" item, but I'm not sure how well that's going to go over considering that they used to sell almost the same thing under the name for $40.  You can find numerous alternatives, such as http://www.workerscollect...g_pro.html for $25, for $30, for free, or a somewhat different type of product, , for $10, etc.

Louis H Frank,

Wow! Thanks for this info. I stand corrected.

Any help in understanding how the current product is that much more advanced than the old one, making it worth the major price increase?
May 27 2010 at 10:11pm Copy Link
David Hsia Hello Louis and Frank, Thanks for your comments! HyperLens has some unique features than other similar applications: Zooming with arbitrary rotation . That is to say, use Ctrl + Mouse Wheel to zoom, or along with Shift key to rotate at the same time. Even in zoomed and rotated display, the keyboard input focus or mouse cursor still work normally as the lens does not exist. (Remember that holding the Ctrl key to keep the rotation, when the Ctrl key is released, once the input focus or mouse cursor is moved, the rotation will be reset to 0.) Highly optimized real-time sharpening filters (Sharpen and Edge Enhance). Full color level adjustments for every color channel in all the 4 color modes (True Color, Grayscale, Invert and Sepia), which enable you to clearly view the dim graphic/video details hidden in the dark areas that normally very hard to be seen. Full color adjustments (Brightness, Contrast, Saturation and Hue) and mouse cursor enhancements (Size, Color and Opacity). 12 built-in realistic anti-glare texture filters . HyperLens is a brand-new product with lots of new features and improvements than the very old Magic Lens Max: Supports almost all screen resolutions in full-screen mode. Optimized color level adjustments in every color mode. Optimized sharpening filters. Mouse cursor enhancements, now supports mouse cursor size up to 128 x 128 pixels. Click highlighting effects. Working with lens presets and presets editor. Autosave option for screen capture. Optimized text caret tracking. Lots of minor optimizations and improvements. Additionally, this HyperLens offer guarantees free product upgrades for 2 years.

Frank Stephens VisionSuit, if you're going to charge a fortune for presentation software, then it needs to function as presentation software and support recent operating systems, like Vista and Windows 7.  I have all of the products which I mentioned in my previous post (although not the most recent version of Presentation Assistant).  Magnifying Glass Pro has all sorts of features not available in any other product.  However, like products from VisionSuit, it generally doesn't support Aero, and the coding isn't very good.  It does support rotation, although I don't know why anyone would use that.  Presentation Assistant and ZoomIt have actual presentation features, unlike the other products.  The version of Presentation Assistant which I have isn't coded very well.  Personally, I generally like ZoomIt the best, it supports Aero and is very high-performance.  Sticky Previews is somewhat different, although you could use it for some types of presentations.  It's very high-performance, as it uses Aero directly.  Of course, the magnifiers in Vista and higher have various features and support Aero.  If you have a Microsoft mouse, IntelliPoint has a magnifier which supports Aero (annoyingly, it turns Aero off and back on when you start the magnifier).
May 28 2010 at 8:56am Copy Link
David Hsia Frank,

HyperLens does support Windows Vista and Windows 7, and it has many presentation features that you are unwilling to mention. Just as zooming with arbitrary rotation, unlike you many users actually appreciate it, it does not disturb you in any way so you need not dislike it.

Some of your conflictive 'conclusions' really puzzled me, perhaps the best way for the users to make their own choice is 'Try before Buy'. HyperLens offers 30-day Free Trial for the users to evaluate it.
VisionSuit Software - May 29 2010 at 7:31am Copy Link
Louis H Shortly after this was offered here, VisionSuit dropped the price to just under $90 (a big drop from what it was. It was originally listed at $289!!!! Discounted to $115) I picked up a copy then at a 50% discount for around $45. That was back in June of this year.

It has served me well and while I would have loved to have been able to pick it up for the greater discounted price in this offering, (list price now down to just under 70$) I remain a satisfied customer. I have 4 such programs that I use from time to time, but the one I load at startup and go to the most is HyperLens.

If you have ANY need for such an app, I recommend you give this one a try.

Azziz Mouloud Hi
Does it interfer with windows 7 aero effect?
Sep 23 2010 at 8:08am Copy Link
David Hsia Hi Azziz,

In the current version, HyperLens still needs to disable the Aero effects to work more smoothly with Windows Vista and Windows 7, for better performance. And of course, when the program exits, it will restore the Aero settings.
VisionSuit Software - Sep 24 2010 at 2:15am Copy Link
Kelly Major I really like this product and I would buy it immediately if it just supported Aero. I want to use it all the time as a magnifier, not really for presentations, but I'm not going to run with Aero off all the time. I like it as a magnifier better than anything I've found in the price range.

Any chance you will support magnifying the screen natively in the future?

Thanks! - KEM

David Hsia Hi KEM,

Thanks for your comment!

It's possible in the enhanced mode, but might reduce the performance of the program.

Best Regards,
VisionSuit Software - Sep 1 2012 at 8:44pm Copy Link
Kelly Major I just tested it again in enhanced mode and that program immediately disables Aero when launched. My computer was recently configured and built to spec. It is a *very* high end workstation in every respect so I can't imagine having a hardware or resource limitation.

I would be interested in finding out if there is another setting that might be preventing it from working with Aero. If so please let me know.

I checked all day for a reply. It looks like you did finally reply in the late evening and I'm just seeing it. The 40% discount is no longer available which isn't necessarily a deal breaker but rather disconcerting.

Sep 2 2012 at 6:39am Copy Link
David Hsia Hi KEM,

Thanks for evaluating our product!

We will try to implement the feature as you requested, in the next release of HyperLens. Once it is available, I will inform you of that.

Best Regards,
