Shilo Keane I have installed and program crashes after a module is selected. Anyone else having this problem? Cannot register unless this problem fixed. Running Win8.1 64bit, wondering if its not compatible. I have emailed MiniTool for help.

Bruce Fraser It was only AFTER:
* after I went through all the hoops of registering, emailing, etc.
* after I got the confirmation
* after I downloaded the file
* after I installed the software
* after I registered the program
ONLY THEN did they have the "courtesy" to tell me this is only the PERSONAL version, and not suitable for business use.
I say nuts to them, if they're not going to give that information up front.l

Anil Agrawal It's non-sensical to provide such promotions that require installation within limited number of days! BitsDujour, tell us what the logic is behind such promotions.. have people drop everything they are doing and RUN to get the software and RUN to install it right away? Why? Yah, you can get few people to do that maybe but you are losing a bunch of (potential) customers out there - if you care!

joyce Wong I downloaded the software and installed it, but it crashes if I choose any module. Therefore cannot register (although i have a code from your e-mail)

Windows said there is a paid version which will be compatible.

Could you tell what is the problem? I run windows 8.1 64bits, i7 desktop PC.

Benjamin Levy I'm having the same problem as Shilo Keane. Win 8.1, 64 bit, select any module. There's a window for 'scanning attached devices, please wait stuck at 2% and another window showing "Power Data Recovery is an all in one data recovery solution for home and business users. has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Any ideas?

Shilo Keane Update to Win8.1 64bit crashing, MiniTools responded to my email and said to disconnect external hard drives, I did this and was able to click a module and register the program. Am doing a scan for images on internal drive atm. Hope this solves problem for other users to.

Jackie I wish we could install it any time. I'll be getting a larger hard drive soon. And I'll be out of luck installing this freebie on my new hard drive. I hate this part "Transfer of a license to another owned computer is not allowed". I hope my laptop can hold up. Oh well.

I think we've all figured that out by now.
The aggravation was because the promotion for this item clearly stated that it DID include the boot disk: "You can even use a Data Recovery Boot Disk to recover data if your computer won’t boot!"
Your best response would have been: "Sorry for the mistake. We'll include the boot disk as a bonus."
Your next best response would have been: Sorry for the mistake. It's not included."
Your response has no apology, no concern for the confusion and aggravation caused by this. That's a poor model for public relations.

Jae Dykes BitsDuJour, there must be a problem with your check out process because the exact same thing happened for yesterday's free deal. I click that I want the software, it takes me to the check out page, then I get a message saying "Oops..." I've already purchased the product, click to get your confirmation email resent. But it's a glitch - I didn't get the product, which is why I then get an error message that my email can't be found to resend. Hope you get this fixed. Can't get Power Data Recovery unless you do.

Loyal User Is there a portable edition of this software?

For obvious reasons, a portable edition makes a lot of sense for this particular software, and I'd rather have it on a thumb-drive than installed on a system drive.

As for download, installation, and registration, all went smooth, no issues.

I tried to get this software, 4 times in a row - waiting 10-40 minutes in between - I could not complete the checkout, getting the message:

"Sorry but we couldn't make that purchase, some items in your cart need to be modified! You have not been charged. Please check below and try again."

Then I tried to get it again, after 2 hours, following the link in my email, but I still cannot get the software, this time the message is:

"It looks like you've already bought MiniTool Power Data Recovery - Personal Edition v6.8. We're sorry but this promotion is limited to one purchase per person. You can Resend Your Email Receipt if you can't find it."

I checked the spam, I asked for the receipt to be sent again, but nothing arrived. Can you please sort this out? Thank you.

- someone else has already participated in the promotion using the external IP address you are using
- someone else has already participated in the promotion using the same computer you are trying to use to participate in the promotion.

The Minitool site offers the 7.0 Free edition, which has restrictions (e.g. maximum download 1 GB).
The present offer is therefore better than would appear.

Daryn Bogart @ Jean-Francois Puglia .........if you want something that can be registered years down the road, there's a simple solution...........PAY FOR IT rather than crying like an entitlement jerkoff that this is a 1-year deal.
It's not a 1 year deal as the application will fully function well past 1 year. You simply have a full year to be able to install and register it. There's a difference. You may want to learn that before making dumb entitlement asshat comments.

Constantin Florea @K. Christoph, I am sorry about the confusion. We missed updating the version to 7.0 before the promotion's start and that is why you see the 6.8 in your receipt. After updating the version to the correct value of 7.0, I resent you the receipt email and you should see it as 7.0. In any case, if you have already downloaded the product be pressing the Download button from the receipt email you should have version 7.0. The issue was only in the text in the promotion page.

CFGuy Hi- and many thanks for the free software offering today. I understand that there is already a free version of this program, which allows users to recover up to 1GB of data for free. I also understand that there is an "upgraded" version (that usually is priced around $69) and does no limit user to 1GB of data recovery. May I ask which version is being offered her on BDJ today?
