What are people saying about MockupData

Oversight13 Can this generate email addresses, either from a single domain, or random domains?

Nov 21 2012 at 9:38am Copy Link

Igor Jese It's what we are working on at the moment, it's kind of complicated. E-mail address has to take into account your name, last name and company name - if they are present, that is. And if any of those isn't, then to improvise. And randomize things just a little with free e-mail services such as yahoo, aol and gmail etc.

In other words, no it doesn't. But in a month e-mail addresses will be available.

Richard Miles Are there ways to access other fields or functions like substrings?

Michael R. Is it possible, to embed these data to my former version v4 of MockupScreens?

Is it possible to let an external program generate strings, i,e, let MockupTData e.g. call an external user-created DLL(-function)?

Igor Jese Michael, you can export data to Excel, and then copy it to MockupScreens tables. There is no direct way, I'm afraid.

For custom strings, you can use "Custom" rule and specify an external file (the one you have prepared with your DDL in advance) to take the strings from.

Best,
Igor

Gonzo You may want to review the ASP logo in the Fine Print tab; it shows "Member #87264 NOT FOUND!".

Matt Hi Igor,

It seems like there hasn't been an update for a while (maybe no need for one).

What is the current version?

And do you have the version history on your website? I couldn't find one.

Thank you.

b g Can this application create statistical data from normal populations with specified parameters? Non-normal populations? Binomial data too?

May 20 2015 at 11:06am Copy Link

Paul Is it possible to enter a limitative list of fixed values for a column? For example gender (male, female)?

Thanks for your answer?

May 20 2015 at 12:19pm Copy Link

Igor Jese Thanks Gonzo, I'll check it out.

Matt, the current version is 1.10, released over a year ago. There hasn't been any need for updates, nor any bugs. It's a pretty straight-forward utility.

No statistical data, I'm afraid.

Gender male/female data in a column: yes, MockupData does this. You specify exact rules for each column.

Faik Djikic It seems that your download link does not work. I get "403 Forbidden" when I try to download trial version.
Thought you might want to know this

Constantin Florea The download URL is:
http://MockupData.com/upl...aSetup.exe

I've tried this in several browsers as well as two different web proxies and it worked on all cases. Could you please try downloading using other browsers?

John Brazier Igor, when you check on the ASP logo you may want to check with Rupal on a project reload issue ...

Paul I missed you're answer on support of Windows 8 en Windows 10

Faik Djikic Now it works for me too. Have no idea what happened. Anyway, thanks!

RichV Hi. I consult and often work onsite for a client. For security reasons I'm always using their provided laptop, so I'm wondering if I can install this on a USB flash stick and use it that way. (thanks)

Igor Jese No nosql data, sorry.

John, I'll check with Rupal on the issue, thanks for the heads up.

Windows 8 is definitely supported. We've tried it on Windows 10 and it seemingly works fine, but there's no official support until official Win10 release.

Rich, there's no official portable/zip package. We can build it for you, though.

Bruno User Hello Igor,

I have some questions:

In 2012 (see above), you said creation of e-mail addresses was imminent. So I suppose this is not a problem anymore?

In 2015 (see above), you said MockupData worked with Windows 8, and Windows 10 compatibility would be officialized as soon as Windows 10 was final itself. Now in 2016, here and on your website, compatibility is indicated for Win 2000 up to Win 7, so is there some possible problem with 8 and/or 10, which one(s)?

On your site, you indicate the licence key is for one pc, so what will happen if I need to change my pc? Can I transfer the program and licence without your help? ("Phoning home" would not be a problem since I really would switch, not use the program on 2 pcs then.)

Is it correct that in order to create mockup data with MockupData (in csv format then imported back into the database), I need to create sort of a second "database" within MockupData, manually (this could become very strenuous with many tables and with many columns), or is there a way to import a kind of "script" into MockupData, by which similar commands (SQL) as those which create the tables and columns in the production database, would create the tables and columns within MockupData? (I know of the alternative to just create (the most) "important" tables in MockupData, but that would leave many tables of my production database empty, thus would not give a realistic try-out.)

Sub-question to the last one: Since MockupData imports Excel tables, does it import csv tables, too? (i.e. together with the column titles) Since that might be a realistic possibility to automatically:
- either create the tables, together with their columns, in MockupData,
- or at least to create the necessary multiple columns in tables created manually in MockupData.

Can I download a manual from your site, without installing the trial?

Thank you very much!

Nelson Therrien Hi,

I have version 1.10... What's the new version? What are the differences?

I guess it's cheaper to buy a new license than to upgrade (IF it is available... I didn't see it on the site...).

Foomonkey42 Does this run properly on Windows 10 and is it officially supported on it by the dev?

It seems odd that the compatibility info says the latest supported OS is Windows 7...

CFGuy Although I don't have an immediate need for this program- I could see, down the road, that it could be very useful. The Pricepoint is extremely affordable, and the EULA ("Fine Print") terms are very agreeable to a software consumer- plus I like the fact that the developer "agrees to abide by the ASP's Code of Professional Conduct." Admittedly, I've never had an issue or experience that made this last point useful to me, but to be honest, just that fact that the developer is agreeing to abide by any specific group's "code of ethics" could only be a plus, for me. So this one is a "no brainer" for me- I'm in. Wish all the deals offered here on BDJ had these qualities. but I understand that life (and software sale terms) is/are not always able to be that simple. -CFGuy

bvssunnydale If the maker had answered a single one of the above questions I would've purchased because the app seems useful. Why list something on BitsDuJour if you have no intention of answering questions?
