Berry Taylor With one license, you may install NoteFrog on one machine for any number of users or on multiple computers for a single user.

At present we do not have our synchronization capability finalized. It is still under development.

A NoteFrog license purchased at this time will be valid for (at least) all version 1 releases.

Charlotte Sinclaire Wow -- with NoteFrog, you may have just ended an up-to-now discouraging software search!

Ever since I realized that Info Select -- my most important piece of utility software now for years (my LIFE is in my InfoSelect data base!) -- has not been upgraded to run with Vista (which I didn't want but ended up with when I bought a new computer), I've been searching for another software that would fit the bill that IS fits so well. I've loved InfoSelect -- haved used it since it was a DOS program called Tornado -- and have resisted using my new computer just because the current version of InfoSelect won't on run on it properly.

But now I have read about NoteFrog and it sounds so much like the main and best function of IS -- namely, providing a way to manage random information -- that I am very excited and will definitely try it. If it can only just do that one thing as well as InfoSelect has all these years (boy, those developers sure missed the boat not keeping their product upgraded; I never would have considered switching if they had!), it will be worth its weight in golden RAM! I can't wait to try it to see if it is the answer to my quest.

I too have used InfoSelect for a while and I like it pretty good. They had added so much to it that I didn't use it for quite a while, but about 6 months ago, I got back into it. I know they are working on a new version, and it's in Alpha, so probably eventually it will be out.
Now back to NoteFrog. I will buy this program also, because for $10, I think it will do what MemoryMate did for me many many years ago, which is keep track of my random info. InfoSelect has lots of features but there is a lot there to learn and use, and I want something that's easier for a lot of my stuff.
NoteFrog looks good to me.

Actually, our use of InfoSelect and our inability to find a suitable replacement, served as a basis for the development of NoteFrog.

This is amazing! I used Tornado Notes and then its successor, Info Select, under DOS for years. I figured I was the only one still alive who had. I had never found anything under Windows that could come close. The Info Select Windows version really lost its way- I bought one of the early Windows versions and it had simply lost touch with my reality. I continued to run Info Select in a DOS window for years, until finally moving to Keynote.

I converted from Keynote and have been using Notefrog for quite a while now. It started out a bit buggy in its pre-release versions, but since about version 1.2 early this year, it has been very solid.

If there are any more of us out there- let me just say that if you loved Tornado Notes/Info Select, you will love "The Frog" even more. It still doesn't have some of the nice little things that IS had (but the features have been coming along nicely), but it has others that the IS folks never dreamed of- like integrated clipboard tools and the ability to save your stacks as Web pages that contain a built-in search program.

At any rate, three cheers for the nostalgia of Tornado Notes and the original Info Select. Notefrog has carried on in that "less is more" tradition, thank goodness.

Thanks for the kind words. Wow, I knew some customers went back to Keynote and InfoSelect, but didn't realize some went all the way back to Tornado.

We're glad you've been pleased with our progress through our releases. We have a few more nice things planned for the future. And if you've chatted with some in our user base, you'll know that we will incorporate user requested features that are within our KISS philosophy, where appropriate and practical (sorry, no mind-mapping planned).

If you have an idea that will benefit a majority of our current and prospective users and can be implemented in a reasonable framework, pass it along. We do listen.

Actually, I'm not that familiar with AskSam. In a very limited perusal of their site, it would appear they have a few more "import" capabilities than we do at this time, and their search capability differs from ours, but I would have to study a bit more to come up with a more complete comparison.

NoteFrog registration codes are "personalized" for the user. Thus there is a manual process involved in their creation.

If you enter an order it may be a few hours until you receive your permanent, personalized key. Especially since it's Sunday, and I've given the normal staff the day off :) - but you will receive your key.

I'm checking out your Pro trial download. I'll admit the user interface takes some getting used to, but the more I play with it, the more I'm getting used to it.

1) One way I see myself using this a lot is saving text and image clips I find on the web. Is there a way to save a clip that has a title, body text and inline image all in one shot with the title and text font sizes and image position preserved? I have NoteFrog's auto clipboard capture turned on and when I highlight select these 3 things (title, text image), NoteFrog only captured the title and text, and the font size was the default text size. An example of what I would like to capture in one shot is any of the blog entries at
2) In the above scenario, I am able to capture the image separately into a new item. Is there a way to copy this image from its item into another existing item?
3) Speaking of font size, until I found NoteFrog's setting for Default Font, my text capture were in this teeny tiny font that was unreadable. Once I defined the Default Font, the text was capture OK.
4) The setting 'Automatic Clip Capture On at Startup' setting doesn't have a checkbox. It seems to have some type of input field. Should this feature be enabled in the Pro trial?
5) Is there a user message forum for NoteFrog? I checked out your website but didn't find one. How do we send suggestions to you?

Sorry for the many questions, but thanks in advance for any info. I'm pretty sure I'm picking this up no matter what because I see a lot of uses for it.

It's difficult to save a complex document from the web because of the way the item is passed thru the clipboard interface to NoteFrog and the fact that different browsers use different methods for passing the item. Short answer, it's hit and miss as to what the saved message content will be at this time.

You should be able to add the image to a document via pasting it into the item in the NoteFrog item panel.

The font size is sometimes incorrect at first program use. This will be corrected in the next release. Sorry for any inconvenience.

The user forum seemed to be a "spam portal". For now, it's best to just send us your comments, suggestions, etc. We will see about re-opening the forum shortly.

I hope I covered everything to your satisfaction. I'm a little busy right now. Guess I shouldn't have given everyone the day off :)

Steven Avery After ragging the other Bits Du Jour, this looked like a fine idea, a possible complement or auxiliary or replacement to the new Keynote NF or any solid note program, sort of in between using my Linkman as a PIM and a structured note. Dump, some structure but not too much, and search.

With an obviously attentive developer, for $10 I said FINE .. By buying it I am much more likely to use it !

Allen Day The first thing a I noticed is that NoteFrog is horrendously ugly. . . but its seeming throwback to 16 bit Windows days has a certain charm . . .

The biggest problem, though -- why choose NoteFrog? Evernote does everything it does, in terms of unstructured, searchable, RTF note taking -- but is both portable AND syncs over the Internet. Furthermore, there doesn't seem to be any intuitive way to migrate data from any note taking apps into NoteFrog -- so giving NoteFrog a fair trial would require a great deal of effort on my part, either individual dumping notes into text files or copying and pasting. And then I'm still left with a non-synchronous solution that leaves me either wasting time moving my data to/from home/work every single day or just maintaining separate libraries for each. Neither option is intuitive.

Furthermore, NoteFrog lacks sufficient keyboard support. It boasts only a handful of keyboard shortcuts, forcing one to use the mouse for almost all important features. The mouse is NOT where I want to be headed when I am working with text. And global hotkeys? There are none . . .

20 years ago -- maybe even 10 years ago -- NoteFrog would have really been on the verge of something. But it's nearly 2010 now and NoteFrog feels like a dated relic. The only compelling reason to use it over the plethora of free and comparably priced alternatives is ignorance of said alternatives.

At 10 bucks I couldn't help but grab a copy in case NoteFrog 1.4 is just a very early, very rough draft of what one day will grow into a real app for this digital age but I won't hold my breath.

Images and Notes are separate.

For anyone else who has already downloaded and installed, if you're not interested in seeing that feature right now, there's no need to download and reinstall, since the program is exactly the same. The only change was the incorporation of the base HTML file into the installation.

Software Guy Note and information management is a crowded field, with heavyweights like Evernote and Treenotes. Noterush, a freeform relational note software was just recently offered, similar in underlying concept to the unusual european Notesbrowser. Another notetaking software, one I use frequently is AllMyNotes which is always on discount at BDJ and has great developer support (the same reason I use/like XYPLORER) . And there are the stickies like Hottnotes (nice free version) and Notezilla, offered here not too long ago - great complements to Note/Info management software. For a selection, just type in notes under Software Search on the All Deals tab above and see what comes up.
Another favorite of mine is the full featured Texnotes from GEMX, with a new lower price of 19.95$ - check it out. And then there are the PIMs with many features, such as Swift ToDo (with others as C-Organizer, Essential PIM, Efficient PIM, GEMXs Harmony PIM) and the other personal information managers/organizers. Picking one is a matter of personal preference or one having that special feature such import/export format or some other item you find critical. By way of example, I like the assignable icons in Texnotes because I can color code WITH number code the icons for related notes/info without reading the tabs - it makes finding information under a given topic easy and quick.
Now we have NoteFrog Professional with a very useable interface and rotating stacks (the equivalent of tabs or folders in some others) - and at 15.95 for a lifetime license, this is a great deal - look at the money saved long term. Thanks HT consulting for a very attractive deal.

Yes, it is a crowded field. As stated on our site, we built it to satisfy a need and use it ourselves. I'm not an organization nut. My "organization" is basically piles of stuff, that I sift through when I need something. NoteFrog satisfies my need. A big stack (or maybe a few stacks) of stuff with a super search capability which allows me to quickly locate what I want. This style doesn't fit everyone's need and there are certainly plenty of alternative offerings for the more organized among us.

And the interface improves for version 2, which will be released soon.

It's a good idea to download and install the "fixed" version, if you haven't already.

I had too many balls in the air, between multiple versions of release 1 and readying version 2 for production release. All should be well now.

I have windows 7 64 bit and installed the trial. Windows responded saying it was not installed correctly and I should let it reinstall with recommended settings. I did this and it crashed my system as soon as I opened NoteFrog. Explorer crashed and I had to reboot.

I rebooted twice, I reinstalled twice and it kept crashing my system as soon as I opened NoteFrog.

I then tried uninstalling NoteFrog; First, Revo Uninstaller Pro could not find it, I then looked in add and remove programs in the control panel and NoteFrog is not listed not there, I then looked in the start menu to see if you'd included an uninstaller with Note Frog but there is nothing there.

Please tell me how I can extricate my system from this problem and remove NoteFrog from my computer completely including any registry changes it made.

Berry Taylor NoteFrog installs using standard Windows installation procedures. It should be in "C:\Program Files (x86)\NoteFrog". It includes an uninstaller - unins000.exe. It makes no registry changes. You should be able to uninstall it using the uninstaller - unins000.exe or via Windows add/remove programs.

I run it under Windows 6 64 bit along with hundreds of other satisfied users. We would be very interested in working with you to attempt to discover why you alone seem to be having this problem. Netfrog did not show up in add & remove programs nor did the uninstaller show in the start menu. I was however able to run the uninstaller file from within the NetfFog directory as per your directions.

The Netfrog directory has now gone and I hope it's left my system cleanly although after running the uninstaller, windows bought up the same window it did when I installed the program saying it had may not have"installed" properly.

John Hood Question: Have you tested this on a 64 bit system? I am getting Windows Explorer errors when trying to shut down unless I fully close your program manually. Yes, it's tested most extensively under Windows 7 x64. That's what I run myself. We're working with someone right now to attempt to confirm a problem and I assure you, it will be resolved.

This means, you may use it on as many computers as you wish OR
multiple users may use it on a single computer.

Just a quick note to let you the problem I had has been resolved in your latest download and installed fine on my windows 7 64 bit system. The system has remained stable.

_*_ Since I have never used a program like this, maybe I just donot get it.
Is this simply a listing of stuff you copy and paste, or is there something more that I have no idea about?

How do I use this to make my like more productive, or manage it better?

I am trying the demo, but I honestly and not sure what to do with it.

Your question might best be answered by visiting the NoteFrog website and trying the "Online Test Drive" as well as reviewing the "Overview" and "Example Uses".

Emil Kucera Another question - or for wishlist, if not available (could not find it): is it possible to save the search results into a new stack in one fell swoop? Say I wanted all the hundreds of 'printer' containing notes saved as individual items in a 'printers' stack?
BTW - I already bought earlier today :-)
Also - how would one drag / move /coph items between stacks?

Actually that will be possible utilizing "virtual stacks" which will be implemented early on in the version 2 release cycle.

Berry Taylor Hi

The base release of version 2 will be a new foundation and will provide limited new functionality, but version 2 upgrades will follow and will include "virtual stacks". I'm always too optimistic in my predictions, so let's just say during 2012.

Drag and drop between the active stack and other stacks is possible now by selecting items in the active stack and dragging them into a stack in the "stacks" panel listing.

Noted and added to feature requests.

There are search improvements already planned. We'll see if this can be accomodated as well.

Apart from the fact that the program appears to be very useful, I have 2 questions to ask you:

Q1. Did you expect this much responce from Bitsdujour followers to your promotion and how much do you think it is because you have added the "... Lifetime License ..." in the title of the promotion?

Because there is one thing that Bitsdujour followers normally prefer to have in a program: is a program that includes major upgrades and minor updates, and one thing they seem to hate overwhelmingly: which is online activation with a one computer per license footprint.

Q2. Where did the idea or concept come from for the name orf the program, are you an avid frog watcher as many people are?

You will no doubt see my email when i post this so if you do not want to answer the questions publicly, I'm happy to accept your answers privately.

I'd sincerely like to offer my appreciation and thanks for deciding to offer such a useful program - which I for one had never heard of before, and I hope you and the program continue to flourish.

When I select a different delivery address (in the same country) the blurb under the terms and conditions box and the BUTTOn that says AGREE & Continue dissapears and i cant work out how to make it appear unless i select to send it to me and not the receipient I want it to go too.

Please advise if you can

I have run a BTJ Promo before, some 2+ years back and while you're never sure what to expect, the response from the promotion is similar (slightly better) than that one.

I do believe the Lifetime License offer was a factor in the response.

The idea fro the program came from our own needs being largely unsatisfied by what we could find in the market at the time, some 5 years ago. Infoselect was part of our program model.

The "Frog" was a somewhat whimsical approach to defining a theme for the program - and the domain name was available :)

Longtime Frogger i think the NoteFrog name comes from the concept of the graphic at the top of the main page: A frog using its sticky tongue to snatch a particular note from a huge stack of jumbled notes. That association was more obvious from some of the graphics on the earlier web pages years back.

I have been using the Frog since version 1.1 ( I joined the old beta tester system for a while) and have amassed have a huge collection of "diary" and historical notes, as well as information about everyone and everything in my life that I don't think I could any longer function without.

A customer calls me and I have his note up 3 seconds after the caller ID and ask him how that new putter is working out, or whatever. Frog has made me many thousands of $ just by that capability.
