  • - PDF Editor includes powerful text editing and formatting tools, along with image insertion, manipulation and basic form creation
  • - PDF Pro, the flagship title, has all of the features of the two other applications, as well as a powerful converter to PDF to Word, Excel, HTML, and batch processing.
All 3 titles also allow you to add watermarks hyperlinks, attachments and more!

The new applications have been given a stunning new look and feel making it a pleasure to work on your PDF files. The new builds come in 4 languages English, French, German, and Spanish.

Rob I don't think so MBe ...
Something I use a lot doing research is the ability to make a non-editable (scanned) PDF into an editable one using OCR.

...and of course the license issue, to use this on my desktop and 2 laptops would require 3 purchases. Although this is a great price, (and thanks to the publisher for that), a personal 3 machine (costs a bit more) license would be much better for a lot of us users.

PDF Pro 10 Hey Don, hey Roger.

There's a bug in Inno-installer, which is what we use to install the binaries. It occurs when you try to reinstall the application, asking you to reboot your computer. Since we don't have access to Inno-installer, there isn't much we can do about this. There is a workaround, however. The workflow looks like this:

If you have previously installed PDF Pro and then uninstalled it:
- attempt to reinstall. It will fail at 99%
- reboot your PC and then attempt to reinstall. it should now work

You will need to uninstall and attempt to reinstall before rebooting for this workaround to work.

Sorry again for the confusion!

Frank Christensen All: Unless we find out that the version linked here (1.3.0.470, 13.1MB) is the same version offered on their website (10.9, 54MB), I'll pass as the version here on BDJ specifically states on the Features tab above: "Download available for: Windows XP, Vista (32 and 64 bit), 7 (32 and 64 bit)".

While probably well-intentioned, PDF Pro Limited's responses here (and unanswered questions) don't help my assurance that all is as it should be.

I'll hope that BDJ can straighten out this mess re versions and features and, when that's done, re-feature or extend the offer.

That being said, thanks as always to BDJ for the many great offers here!

The new builds are compatible with Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10. They are not compatible with XP and Vista.

Frank Christensen Another thing that's been bothering me...it shows three programs to select from when you click Download Trial (PDF Pro, PDF Editor, PDF Writer) but the description specifically states "PDF Pro, the flagship title, has all of the features of the two other applications, as well as a powerful converter to PDF to Word, Excel, HTML, and batch processing." So why would anyone purchase Editor or Writer for a "savings" of $3.60 and limited features vs the supposedly full version? Am I missing something?

PDF Pro 10 Hi again Frank.

Given the steep discounts, there's not much incentive to purchase other titles except for PDF Pro, since that is the software with all of the features.

There is a MSRP of $69.99 for PDF Writer and PDF Editor, and a $99 MSRP for PDF Pro.

You can upgrade from PDF Writer/ PDF Editor to PDF Pro from within the application for $29.99

We have been developing the new builds for a little over 1 year now, and have literally finished the QA a few hours before this promotion, so some of our messaging is still a bit behind. We are sorry for that.

To rotate an image, you can left click the circle in the top of the image and drag it to the desired angle. you can also "snap" it to a right angle if you hold SHIFT down.

geo User Have a question on upgrades policy.
Has this change from previous offerings?
Now it states in the FINE PRINT: Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for 12 months.
It used to be free updates for the current major version if I recall correctly.
Can the vendor clarify the upgrade / update policy for this offer?
Current version is listed as v10.3.9.1912
I believe 10 is the major version. So are the updates to version 10.x.x.x.x all free only for 12 months or are they free while the development is still under the version number 10.x.x.x.x which means they will stop when v11 comes out?

Can not purchase with out this been made clear.
Thanks.

B User I opened an existing PDF file and I was not able to edit the text in that file. As a PDF editor, if it can't edit text in an existing PDF file, then it appears to be a failure.

I started a new PDF document and selected the "typewriter" option. When I typed something it went into a textbox. There was no word wrap. My text stayed on one line and went off the screen. When I pressed the Return key it didn't go to the next line. It just ended entry into the textbox. I either had to click back into that textbox or start a new textbox. It was not obvious how to create a blank line. I did not see an option for word wrap.

_*_ @PDF Pro 10, Thanks for replying. I do understand, but still a bit frustrated. It is clearly an updated product, yet the version number is still in version 10 of the PDF Pro 10. In fact your user name is still PDF Pro 10!
Seems like an extensive update for sure, but the same product, with an updated version number 10.3.9.1912.
Because you left the old one on the shelf for so long, and rewrote it does not make it a new product with a version 10.xx and not a new version 1.xx number system.

dojistar The Highlight, Underline, Strikeout text functions did not work in the trial version 10.3.9.1912 downloaded from the BitsDuJour website. Also, the insert hyperlink function did not work. However, the Pencil and TypeWriter functions worked.

An additional page cannot be added to the document by using the save function. The save function only allows for replacing and not also appending like PrimoPDF. This makes appending documents very cumbersome and I would revert to PrimoPDF for that.

The file save window only allows for file names of 46 characters in length and cannot be expanded. This is not large enough to properly check the file name.

I’d like to buy and try it but I’ll wait until someone writes that they have a paid version that works.

PDF Pro 10 Hi _*_, I understand where the frustration is coming from. Here is a bit more info on our thought process when it comes to the product development. First of all, we think this tendency of software publishers to move to a subscription model is ridiculous for a lot of product categories. Whereas it might make sense for services like cloud storage, it does not make any sense (in our opinion) for applications with features that can easily run on your computer and who's functionality evolves slowly (like PDF Software).

However, we also believe the idea of annual product releases don't really make sense in the age of the internet, where updates can be pushed automatically. Right now, we're looking for a "sweet spot", where people can use the software forever, and can buy maintenance plans in order for us to continue supporting the software development. We'd love to offer some sort of subscription service (because we'd obviously make more money), but we simply do not see how that would benefit the end-user. The best software companies after-all offer a win-win.

We intend on re-branding and dropping the 10 from our name. We are, however, a small team so some of these things do take some time for us to get right.

J User I have purchased the software based on the response to other questions regarding the ability to add the software to an owned laptop in addition to my desktop.
Your answer says that customer service would assist in resetting the license key in order to do that.
Apparently, no one told customer service, as they refuse to reset the key in order to load on my laptop.
What is the point of telling us one thing, only to find after we purchase, that you won't reset the license key? That's a pretty bad practice.

Barbara Blackwell Hello PDF Pro -

1) Thank you for the great deal. I had already installed the older version? (pdfpro 10.3.9.1212) and used the activation code before reading all the comments. I hit update from the app and it said it was current. After you've done your public release in the next few days will I be able to update it to the latest, greatest without paying additional fees or is this the latest? If there is a better path to follow please let me know!

2) I've used a competitor's product for years - PDF Annotator. One feature they have I really like is that once your have a pdf open in the app, any additional pages you select to print to the app give you the option to append to the open document. Anything like that with your product?

3) I'm confused by the licensing still. Does this deal offer desktop+laptop install or do I purchase two licenses?

4) Thanks for being so gracious with your replies. Sad to see some rude comments after you offered such a great deal!

Michael Sanderson Software glitch when using paypal did same thing as others have reported. Even though I declined CD and other item, the invoice reverted to the higher cost items I had declined...Fortunately I was watching carefully and caught the problem before finaiizing the order

PDF Pro 10 Hi Barbara, thanks for your comments and the kind wishes!

We push updates automatically to the software which you are elligible to receive for 365 days after your purchase, afterwhich you can extend the maintenance plan at a discounted rate.

You can check the status of your license under file > preferences > general to know more about your license key.

2) You're the second person to suggest something like this. For now, you can merge files together which should achieve the same result. We will look into adding a feature like the one you are describing (although we have a pretty hefty list of heavier lifting on our plate at the moment)

3) License keys work on 1 computer. You can transfer it to another computer, but for that you would have to contact customer support for us to reset the license key

4) Thanks for the kind wishes! We love the BitsDuJour community since you guys speak up and point out everything we could do better!

PDF Pro 10 Hi Michael Sanderson, got you. please send me your order number and I'll refund the CD backup:

Also, I will investigate why this keeps on happening. Might be something with Fastspring (our e-commerce platform).

User1 Bought "Pro" today. Nice clean looking interface. Unfortunately, printing does not bring up the Windows printing dialog. There are no options for overriding any printer defaults.

Also unable to print a PDF bank statement - it cuts off the side. Disappointed with the lack of positioning options. Was hoping this was a good replacement for the high cost PDF programs.
