What are people saying about PDF to X
Retired Engineer I subscribe to several voluminous publications downloaded in .pdf format. The problem I have is that their Times-New Roman text is uniformly fuzzy, cruddy (with Clear Type run-overs), and hard to read. If I could use my Word-2010 fonts, reading would be no problem.

How large a document can you convert? What is the conversion time per page? Can I, say, highlight and convert only selected pages in my .pdf newspapers and magazines?

Pauleduc I reported this via the site, but will list it here as well:

1. I tried to convert a PDF file to DOC and got an error. Unfortunately, all it say is ‘error occurred’.. nothing else.. and no way of knowing what the error was or how I can correct it. Kind of poor error handling. Furthermore, the dialog box is not scalable, so I cannot resize the box to read the partial messages.. again, poor design.

2. Although not a show stopper, the program does not support drag and drop to allow me to drag and drop a PDF file into the program.. instead, I need to waste time navigating to the folder where the file is. Again, poor design.

Ralph Bressler It is now more than 8 hours since I paid for this program. I still have no key. I have checked ALL the folders in my e-mail. NOTHING! I emailed last night to the address you suggested and there has been no response. Are you going to resolve this or should I start a dispute with Paypal? I like the program but cannot use it properly if you do not send a key!

BDJ would you like to comment on this situation?

Jim Buchanan I had this program before and I do not believe it goes into the context menu but I might have missed it anyway.

The program is easy to use. It does have it's failings 'at times' but it was good enough that I just bought the Personal License for 3 computers. It certainly is much better than another few I have tried.

As I said, I had it before but then that computer is not acting the best and I am in the process of changing over the software I can remember buying, to a newer and faster computer. This is one!

rob hudson Fine Print states "After you purchase PDF to X it may be used indefinitely." but when I click Get it for free it states "PDF to X 1 Year Single License (1 PC) with 1 Year Upgrades". Please confirm which is correct.

For the giveaway item, it is 1 year license.
For other up-sell ones, it is lifetime license.

Gary User well...it would not convert an 11,000 page pdf - resulted in "need password/error occurred" message. There is no password so it must be an error of some sort. Then I split the pdf into 11 files of 1000 pages. It converted 3 of them and returned the "need password/error occurred" for 8 of the split files.

Eric In order to convert text, I guess the software has to invoke some type of OCR.

D J As much as I would like to try this software, it has a rigid and antiquated installation in that it will only install to your C: drive with no provision to install it on another drive. I'm not about to go to the trouble of setting up redirects to compensate for this. My C drive is a SSD and is reserved for my OS and frequent/heavy use apps and this app will not fall into those categories. Oh well. Maybe the devs will update the installation logic with the next release.

"Almost" however does not really put my mind at rest.

What are the limitations? What is not supported?

Are all character sets in, or only Latin characters supported?

What about Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and other non-Latin character sets?

I can tell you no user found a special language can not be converted.
But we can only say "almost all" to prevent accidents

Eric @ D J: Actually, I installed a few minutes ago the software (trial) and had no such issue: the Installer played nicely, asking at each step where to place the software (personally I changed to drive E:\) and where to place the Start Menu entry ...
You may wish to try again.

@ TSS: I installed the trial software (downloaded direct from your Web site) and tried to convert a 136 pages Hebrew / English PDF document to MS-Word format (knowing that only the 1st page would go through, for now).

Regretfully, after a few seconds the software ended in "Error occurred" ...

Your take?

Brenda Adams I just installed free version on my Win10 64 bit. Results on pages of a pdf magazine Better Homes & Gardens, super fast! Pretty great job. I have to edit some fractions that get stranded at times, example 1
/4 cup orange juice
2 pounds sugar

Otherwise, I'm very impressed. So easy to use. Intuitive for sure. Heading to bed now, but after more testing in the am, I may buy the lifetime version. (I own similar software that I want to test it against first. So far, I'm pretty much in love with your very nice program.)

You must have been sent a different installer. I just tried again and the install package forced the app to be on drive C:. There were no options presented during the install whatsoever I went ahead with the install and the ONLY option given afterwards is where to select an audio file from for the app's notification that the conversion is finished. That's it. So. I will uninstall. The devs did acknowledge my comment with the following: "OK, thanks for your feedback. We are always improving it."

Paul User The installer does NOT force the software to be installed on drive C... simply use the Browse button to select any drive/folder of your choice.

Simply go to TriSun's Software Webpage (link to it on this very page, at the top-right, under the "Get it for free", or go to < http://www.pdf-helper.com/pdf-to-x/ >) and download the product from there. You'll get the trial version (with its inherent limitations) this way; it installs just as both I and Paul suggested, with the option for you to provide a location of your choice. Should you chose to take advantage of one of the special offers at BdJ, just go along, place your order and follow the instructions to turn your trial copy into a registered lifetime one. D J The trial version on the Trisun website would on first blush seems to have a different installer than the BDJ version. Sure enough, there is a BROWSE function on the Trial Version installer. I selected an alternate drive for the app to reside. The install went smoothly. Funny thing is, there were only 3 files installed on the alternate drive -- one dat file and two exes. The exes were both uninstallers -> no primary app. I did trace the whereabouts of the app and lo and behold IT"S ON THE C DRIVE after all. This is too much of a hassle and the app will be uninstalled post-haste. Thanks for the help though. Stay well.

Yes, in current version:

The main program is stored in %appdata%, just like Chrome. Else, if runs in Program files (x86) (most choice), it will show the UAC prompt, for the batch converting and command line, it is not friendly.

The app data is store in %appdata%, just like most other programs.

Actually, after installing the trial version, the program DID pop-up the UAC prompt (and in yellow instead of blue for that matter!) when it invoked MS-Word ...

Is this by design?

Brenda Adams Based on super happy experience with free, I just bought the lifetime. I have question however, why some words get a question mark in middle of word. I thought perhaps your program makes hyphens into ? but I think it's not always that, I mean, sometimes the question marks are in middle of word that I think did not start out having any hyphens. I compared to another program I own, it does not do same thing. Any ideas or hope for fixes? Otherwise, sure is a nice program for such a low price. Thanks. Your program is fun to use. :)

- Transfer of a license to another owned computer is allowed.
- You must install/register the software while the promotion is active, and cannot do so afterwards.

Read The Fine Print. If you can transfer the license to another computer, you HAVE to be able to install/register it at any time. The two features are not mutually exclusive. It's in The Fine Print.

anonny User @Constantin Florea the sending of emails with the registration information is not in doubt it is the reception of them which is unreliable, inconsistent and makes email only delivery mechanism to be not fit for purpose. And should be backed up by also displaying the key/license information in the users account area on this site to avoid disappointing your customers.

Constantin Florea @anonny User, We are working on fixing the issue with the email sending service. That is why we need to send these emails manually until this is done. The development team confirmed we are on the final steps of finishing this task.

Also, having the registration information visible in the user's account area is one of the points we have discussed previously to implement in the future as this would also bring down the number of support requests we have to deal with every day.
