Chris Why is this??

Fine Print:

Transfer of a license to another owned computer is not allowed.

Mark Harper @chris glad you pointed that out. I was very interested until I read your post. Activation is always a pain but restrictive licensing is best avoided. We need more companies that license and activate in the manner that Binaryfortress do.

Louis H To the Vendor,

I am going to be upgrading/replacing my system within the next 6 months. To clarify, according to The Fine Print, I will only be able to use this software for the next 6 months and then will not be able to deactivate it on one system and reactivate it on a new computer? If that is not the case, could you change what is currently written in The Fine Print? I am enjoying the free trial, but am not going to invest anymore time it getting things set up if I will only be able to use the software for the duration of my current system. (6 Months). Thanks.

Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. I'm very sorry, there was a mistake in the listing, transfer of the licence to another computer is definitely allowed, I will update the listing now, please accept my apologies. It is a lifetime licence too, no charge for any upgrades, ever.

Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. The licence is per user, not per computer - you can reinstall it indefinitely (lifetime licence), as long as it is only on one PC at a time. I'm sorry for all the confusion caused.

Mark Harper A question to the vendor.
Well, that does make quite a difference. Is there an option to order say 3 licenses together at a reduced price (and yes I realise it is a discounted offer). What about 3 licenses for $15 as I'm sure many of us have multiple devices in our home these days! That would really swing it for me.
In the meantime, I'll give the trial a go.

Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. Dear Mark, many thanks for your suggestion. I am setting up a discount price for you now - it will be $19.99 for 3 lifetime licences, a 66% discount. I will post it here in a few minutes. I will set up a discount for 2 lifetime licences for $14.99 as well.

PP3FOR1 - Buy three or more licences with 66% off - so three licences will cost $19.98.

Mark Harper Question to vendor
How can I minimise the app to the system tray rather than having it appear as a running program on the taskbar? If it is not possible may I suggest that this would be an improvement? I realise that this may affect the ALT-TAB behaviour but it would, in my opinion, be much better.
I'm still test driving but am liking what I have found so far.
For anyone else evaluating, the video is a rather helpful guide for getting to know the features.
Aug 19 2018 at 5:14am Copy Link
1
Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. Dear Mark, unfortunately you can't minimise the app to the system tray at the moment, I will be adding that function in the next update, and also making it possible to turn off AL-TAB as launch keys, so you would still be able to use Windows Task Switcher by using ALT-TAB, and then use a Launch Key of your choice to switch to Program Picker. (Press Insert when in Program Picker to view the Settings page, where you can change the Launch Key.)

Rob Interesting only installed the trial but got a few questions. That button screen... Can we resize, move or alter layout? Can we alter font and font size? Can we add command lines e.g. start chrome " http://gmail.com " It steals away ALT-TAB as had been said so I had to stick taskmgr.exe onto a key. One frustrating fact is when the program is open on a 3 monitor setup like mine the app never loses focus, so if you switch to another program on another monitor your first keypress is recognised by PP. That single point drives me bonkers. Be nice if it lost focus.
Oh one more thing - be great if the keystroke that opened it closed it instead of reaching top left of keyboard for Escape every time. It is a program after all meant to reduce effort.
Aug 19 2018 at 6:04am Copy Link

Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. Dear Rob, if you press the Launch Key again, Program Picker should minimise, or if you press any key that switches to, or launches a program, Program Picker should minimise immediately afterwards too. If it stays visible after you've switched to another program, it sounds like a bug. Could you try completely shutting Program Picker and restarting it? (Right click on the Taskbar icon and select 'Close window', then open Program Picker using the Start Menu.)
What version of Windows are you using?

You can't adjust the layout of the buttons on the screen at the moment, but you can choose Tablet mode, which gives you larger buttons, by pressing Insert from within Program Picker, and then Press F1 to toggle between Desktop mode (smaller buttons) and Tablet mode. You can't adjust the font or font size yet, but I will add these to future updates.

Rob Hi - I've not explained properly.

If I open PP and then (with PP still displayed) move my mouse cursor to another monitor and click on this monitor (which I do to give the monitor and the program running on it focus) PP will respond to the next keypress and not the other monitors program.

Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. Dear Rob, I understand now. At the moment the Launch Key is used to toggle between displaying program buttons and page number buttons, which makes things quicker when you want to jump to a program/file on a page after page 1. Which Launch Key are you using?
I don't understand why you are opening Program Picker and then using the mouse to click on a program on another monitor - could you not use the program's button in Program Picker to change focus to the program on the other monitor? (I don't understand why you would open Program Picker in the first place in the example you described, if you are going to use the mouse to click on another program instead of Program Picker.) Sorry if I've misunderstood you. Program Picker isn't meant to be left open all the time - it's to be opened and then used to switch, and then it automatically closes until you need it again.

Rob Yep I suppose you're right but I thought I'd just leave PP open on the third monitor and use it as a quick switcher as the apps I use open up on displays 1 and 2.
I did have a bit of a time using it as I played a game off of Steam - the game opened but when I tried to open PP it wouldn't open. I had to resort to closing PP via Task Mgr.

Mark Harper Rob, thank you for your reply and detailed info. May I ask how frequently updates are released and when the next update is scheduled (or likely) to be released? The minimise to system tray and ALT-TAB issues are bearable but only if there is an update to correct these in the very near future.
Your software certainly does seem to be pretty unique both in style and function which explains your application for a patent.
I hope you get plenty of new users today.

Aug 19 2018 at 8:05am Copy Link

Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. Dear William, only the Launch Key will be monitored by Program Picker while you are playing games, so you can set it to be something that doesn't conflict with your games' requirements. You could try using PrtSc, or Scroll Lock, or Pause/Break? Or maybe the Alt Gr key? (Go to Program Picker and press the Insert key to view the Launch Key settings.)

K User Hi Adam, I like your app, always wanted something like that. Windows 10 has good start menu setup that I can organize like the way I want but doesn't have shortcodes to trigger the apps.

I was wondering if you could add an option to support shortcodes as well so we can execute our apps with arguments such as running chrome to open a particular site.

Secondly, if you can add an option to organize the apps with some categorizations such as web design apps, word processing apps, etc. so we can customize it as we need.

Would you consider adding any such functionality?

One more thing, I can't miss the deal, can I buy one license at the moment and later purchase more with the same discount, if that's possible?

Thanks
Aug 19 2018 at 9:11am Copy Link
0
Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. Dear K User, I will look into adding shortcodes in the future, but I can't say when I will implement it. I hadn't thought about adding an option to add some sort of categorisation, but you can change the title of any program on the button by holding down its key and then select 'Edit Title' - so you could put your web design apps on one block of four buttons and edit the titles to begin with 'Web Design' and then add the actual program name?
You can pin programs to any of the buttons on any of the 200 pages, and you can give each page a title, so maybe that would help? But you would need to navigate pages more when switching between programs, which will take longer.
I am also running a discount coupon today for purchases of two licences, and three or more licences:

PP2DISCOUNT - Buy two licences for only $14.98 total (£11.74)
PP3FOR1 - Buy three or more licences with 66% off - so three licences will cost $19.98 (£15.00)

I will hopefully running more deals on BitsduJour in the future, so if you miss the deal today you should have another chance soon.

K User Adam, is it possible to change the key for example on the page I can't see P character on the page, is it possible to add one?

My idea is, I should add relevant keys to the programs, such as W for Ms Word, P for PowerPoint and so on.

It would be really helpful instead of memorizing the current keys, do you have any solution for this?

Thanks

Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. Dear 'K User', the 'P' character isn't available at the moment, this was only because I wanted the two lower rows to be the same length - but all the other characters, including 'W', are available.
I don't pin most of my programs based on their names, I pin them based on most used in the top row, and so on. Are you using Program Picker in Launcher Mode?
In Normal Mode, the order of the programs is based on either launch time, or conventional Windows Alt-Tab order. Press the spacebar to switch between Launcher Mode and Normal Mode. In Launcher Mode, you can decide where the programs are pinned, and they don't move, so it's easier to find them each time.

The latest version of Program Picker features the following improvements, all requested during the last Bitsdujour promotion:
1) Alt-Tab is now optional as a launch method, you can now use Windows' Alt-Tab task switcher while using Program Picker.
2) Minimise to Systray is now available in the Settings page
3) Auto update checker, each time you start Program Picker, it checks to see if you're running the latest version
4) Admin mode - in the previous version, all programs were launching in Admin mode, now only those that were in Admin mode when you pinned them to Program Picker will launch in Admin mode.

Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. Hi, Program Picker doesn't currently have support for German keyboards, but you could use Autohotkey to remap your " ^ " key to the " ` " key? I will investigate adding non-UK and non-US keyboard support.
Can I ask - does Program Picker display correctly on your 5120 x 1440 monitor? I haven't got one to test to see if it will work with that high a number of horizontal pixels.

That would be great if you can manage this to use non-uk/us keyboards like german layout too.

Program Picker shows correctly @5120x1440p nothing looks streched -
squares are squares.

@CL no he'is not allowed to post the date.

But read the thread carefully and then you will get it - what to do ;)

I wanted to try your interesting seeming software at the last bdj offer (probably version 1.0.12). Unfortunately I never was able to test the program, because it crashed already at the first start after installation and clicking "trial". I opened a support ticket asking if there may be a bug regarding windows 7 64 bit (tried it at a pc with 16gb ram and nb with 12gb ram, both win 7 64 ult) but NEVER got any answer from your company. I resent the support request more than once, but no response. That´s frustrating and not a good recommendation for your company! The program may be interesting if it would work properly. Now it seems to be version 1.0.16 - but since the trial period (90 days would have been ok if that had worked) is over now, I can not test if version 1.0.16 would work on my pc /nb now and if a bug preventing the software from working has been fixed.

@bdj customers
Since the idea of program picker seemed to be good, but the software did not work on my pc and nb and I did not get any response from the company I looked for an alternative and "discovered" the very fine software control runner ( http://momsoftco.com/download/ ) The author was very responsive and fixed a bug within a short time. - that´s like support should be. Don´t be irritated by only finding control runner 4 listed under "old versions", at least at my pc equipment it works fine. At the moment momsoftco seems to be working on version 5 (interested people probably may register for beta testing / contact the author for trial http://momsoftco.com/cont...mpiles-ok/ ). Another advantage of control runner is the user policy - no hardware activation, 1 user several pcs or 1 pc several users. http://momsoftco.com/supp...ment-eula/
To my personal opinion a really useful piece of software. worth trying and buying

You can purchase the software today and get a registration code, and you can ask for a refund at any time if it still doesn't work on your PCs - I offer a lifetime refund warranty, so if you decide in a year's time that Program Picker is no longer what you want, you can still get a refund.

Louis H One thing I have learned over the many years I have been a customer here at BDJ is that there can be many valid reasons for a vendor to miss emails from a few folks. As I understand it, H.H. first tried back last year (2018) and for some reason did not get a response. So understandably his view of the Vendor is going to be a negative one. Mine is very positive. As well as is the view from personal friends I have recommended the program to.

(I have had very negative views of some other vendors only to find out that the things that gave rise to those views were actually issues on my part and not theirs. A very few times, vice versa. Now I try and measure my experience against the ones a majority of others report. But even a majority opinion, nowadays, doesn't always present a full picture.)

Preferences for one program over another usually comes down to how easy it makes my computing workflow. I changed from Win 10 Start Menu to Start Menu X for the same reasons I switched from Start Menu X to Program Picker. I hardly ever use the Start Menu now. Program Picker is that useful for me.

As to the program H.H. recommends, I decided to try it out and see how it is. While I much prefer Program Picker, I think the Control Runner is a very nice program. It is certainly an alternative some may prefer, but I like the more graphically pleasing, and very easy to set up, UI of Program Picker.

Since I could not find a lot of screenshots of Control Runner at their website, it was offered back in 2007 here on BDJ. Search for "Control Runner" and you can look at the screenshots for yourself before deciding if you want to install a demo version. It's currently twice the price of Program Picker, based on the price at the website. It does have a 45 day free trial, but as far as I can tell, only a 90 day return guarantee warranty. Program Picker's warranty is lifetime. So you can give it a try and decide which program you like better.

For Control Runner, updates within a major version are free, major version upgrades are free if within a year of purchase. They do require a fee if it has been more than a year between Major version upgrades. My understanding is Program Picker updates and upgrades are always free.

I like Program Picker and am going to continue to use it. Others may find Command Runner better suited to their personal workflow. It's nice to have options to choose from.

H. H. @ Adam Bond
thank you for your response and lifetime warranty offer.
So I decided to give program picker a second chance.
But unfortunately now the next problem occurs: I´m unable to make use of the discounted offer. When trying to purchase 3 licenses fastspring shows an error message,
Tried paypal, visa, amazon pay, tried paying in us dollar and euro
- nothing works. I just paid via paypal at ebay - no problem at all.
So the problem seems to have something to do with fastspring or bond interface, but not with paypal and visa.
Please tell me how to make the discounted purchase.
Thank you in advance.

Mappi75 You have to add a 4th license - then it works (it cost about 6$ more).

Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. Dear H.H., can you describe how far the payment process you got?
When you click on the 'Program Picker - 3 Licenses' link from Bitsdujour, on the Fastspring payment page, in the 'UPDATE COUPON' field, does it say 'PP3FOR1'?
Have you ticked the box near the bottom, where it says "I agree with the terms of service and privacy policy"?
I have sold seven or eight sets of 3 licences in the past few hours, so other people are able to buy 3 licences apparently without problems, could you perhaps send me a screenshot of the error message page that you see from Fastspring? Use the 'Contact' page on my website, at www.bondinterface.com.

Kind regards,
Adam Bond. Bond Interface Design Ltd.

Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. Hi Mappi75, you shouldn't have to buy a 4th licence to get it to work with the 3 licence discount code, that's very strange. I've just tested it by buying 3 licences and it worked okay for me.
Can you send me a screenshot of the error message you get from Fastspring when you try to buy 3 licences?

Kind regards,
Adam Bond. Bond Interface Design Ltd.

H. H. Hallo,
thank you for responding. The PP3For1 is shown and I can choose paypal or credit card. After inserting my credentials (tried paypal and visa) and confirming- instead of the purchase confirmation - the message appears that the order has not been processed and that there could be different reasons.
My credentials should be okay, I tested a paypal/visa purchase inbetween at ebay, everything worked alright. Try to send you the screenshot.
Perhaps a direct paypal-link could help??
with kind regards
H.H.

Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. I think the problem was caused by the payment settings I had set up for the 3 for 1 offer - I hadn't put in a specific value for the minimum amount of Euros that the order had to come to, and I think the currency conversion was making the amount too high, so the order was failing to meet the criteria that the payment processor was expecting. I have now set up a specific minimum Euro amount, and the 3 for 1 offer should now work with Euro purchases. Please let me know if there are still any problems, and please accept my apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Kind regards,

Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. I would be very interested to hear any comments from users who have tried the demo or bought Program Picker today. I am particularly interested in hearing about your experiences using Switcher Mode, to rapidly switch between two or more programs by just holding down the CTRL key (normally used in conjunction with CTRL-C for copy and CTRL-V for paste).

Colin McAllister Hi Adam.
It's very late here, so I'll be brief. I tried the demo and got quite confused between Launcher and Normal mode. I have seen you have a help page online so I will use that to hopefully explain the detail.

I couldn't get the program to switch to monitor 2. I also couldn't Quicksnap program panes by clicking the selection in the Quicksnap section on the Launcher mode bottom - selecting F11 did sort of work though, but halving the screen laid window 2 partially on top of window 1. I also found it odd that clicking on Program Picker did nothing - I could find no way to resize/minimise/maximise the program window.

Lastly, the interface is certainly clear, but it would be nice to have a chance to change the colours, and it would be nice to rename "Page 1, Page 2, etc" to "Image programs, Office Programs, etc" Apologies if all this stuff is doable, I haven't had much time to play with this today. I will buy it though, to give it a go. :-)

Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. Hi Colin, the Help page explains how to use Normal Mode to pin programs to Launcher Mode, and the video also shows this, so please check them out.
Do you want to move Program Picker itself to Monitor 2? It's only visible on your main monitor at the moment, wherever your Start button is. You can't resize the Program Picker window, it's meant to be only visible temporarily, while you select something from it, and then it vanishes. You should be able to click the selection in the Quicksnap section in Launcher Mode, and depending on which button you clicked after using F11 F11 to access Quicksnap that way, it should have halved the most recently used window.
You can change the titles of Page 1, Page 2 etc by holding down the F1 key for Page 1, and selecting "Change title", and so on for each key, so you can set it the way you want.
I am hoping to allow skins in the next version, and Program Picker will come with several skins, and you will be able to use your own skins too!
Many thanks for your useful comments!

Kind regards,
Adam Bond. Bond Interface Design Ltd.

Colin McAllister I am constantly on the lookout for program launchers that won't clutter the desktop. I bought this last time around and I was suprised to find I do use it every day. It has replaced 2 other launchers.

I don't use all the features. I use a mouse, not numerous immemorable keystrokes. I don't see the point of minimise and restore "buttons" when every Windows window has those built in. Similarly, I don't toss my windws into left/right/top/bottom sections of my desktop - I have 2 monitors and Program X goes on the left monitor and Program Y on the right. That works for me. I still don't reallly understand why the program sometimes spreads across the "F-keys" - I know it does, so I avoid fixing items onto those keys. :-)

Between "Page 1" and "Launcher Mode", I find I have my most needed items handy to launch, and if I need alternates another click gets me to the individual page for that item (I renamed the pages e.g. "Scanning", "Office progs", "Sync/Backup progs", etc).

If I had one wish, it would be to be able to move Program Picker onto my secondary monitor. So, as someone who uses a mouse to launch stuff and dislikes lots of shortcuts on their desktop, I find Program Picker helps me.

Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. Hi Colin, Program Picker is probably spreading programs across adjacent F-keys because there are multiple instances of that program running. Is that the case? You can solve this problem by leaving empty tiles to the right of programs that you normally run multiple instances of.
The main purpose of Program Picker is to allow very rapid switching between numerous open programs, which is why it is set up to allow two keypresses to switch between up to 40 open programs - but if you find the mouse quicker, that's great!

Kind regards,
Adam Bond

Colin McAllister Hi Adam.
I know you designed Program Picker for keystrokes, but I wanted to point out that it works very well for mouse folk like me, who use just a mouse and the odd shift key! :-)

An example of the F-key spread is when I open a "locker" type of program, where I'm required to enter a password to access the data. I have the data in the background and the password entry on top of it. So I have 2 (temporarily) instances of the program across 2 F-keys. Once the password is entered, that box disappears and there is only 1 key used in Program Picker. It's not a hassle to avoid using the F-keys, as there are plenty of other to choose from on every page, it's just a little quirky. :-)

As well as the suggestion of moving the program to a secondary monitor, might you also consider allowing for colour-coding the keys (or maybe even just the button title text once changed)? That way I could highlight (for example) all my pdf/markdown/epub stuff as blue, and all my photo programs as yellow. Just a thought...

Adam Bond - Bond Interface Design Ltd. Hi Colin, I'll think about adding the colour coding of the keys - but maybe it would have to be the titles only, because at the moment, the blue keys show running programs, and grey keys show non-running programs, which I feel is very useful (but more options are always good, I always say.)
An alternative option would be for Program Picker to have a background box with your chosen colour, that goes behind the keys, so you could still easily see, for example, that Q to R were in front of a yellow box, for your photo programs, and so on. Nobody else has asked for this function before, so I can't guarantee to do it.

Brenda Adams I'm going to try out your program. :)
Meantime, I'm on lookout for software that makes programs STICK OPEN. I get so frustrated with programs that minimize to taskbar without me telling them to (usually when I'm dragging from their window and onto another program's window). Years ago, there was a KEEP THIS WINDOW OPEN using a stick pin at the upper-right of the window. We could click on the pin, causing it to look just like a stick-pin in use and it would keep ANY window we pinned open. I would love to find a program that does that somehow. Anybody know of one (for Windows)?
Yours sounds like a fun program. Maybe it will keep the windows open? Hoping... Anyway, I'm intrigued enough to check Program Picker out for it's many uses! :)

Peter Gabriel Brenda Adams

Anvir Task Manager has a function whereby you just right-click on the title bar of any program and it gives a drop-down list and the top option is 'On Top -Always Visible'.
It's a great program. many useful functions. There's a free version and a paid-for version.
I don't know if this will provide what you need but it might just be right for you.

Kenneth Bates Thanks a ton for giving us the chance to play with the program before the offer starts. Quite often I download a trial version on the day of the offer and then not have the time to see if it will be useful to me. I either take the risk and sometimes regret it later or (more often) forget all about it until the offer has closed.
I am in my 80's and want to collect all the music files on my P.C. together on an old computer and use it as a tracklist organiser and server. Possibly your program could do this (probably overkill) but machines to do this cost an arm and leg.
Looking forward to giving it a spin.

Brenda Adams To Kenneth,
There is a free, very awesome program that will exactly suit your needs! I use it every day. It's super easy to use, too. The name of the program is EVERYTHING!
https://www.voidtools.com/

Enter the extensions you want gathered, they will instantly appear, along with data columns about each. You can then elect to highlight the ones you want to copy or move to your place of choice...and/or you can do lots of other stuff with them. Right click on one of them, for instance. You will see that there are several options in the list that opens. Really handy and wonderful program. I can't rave enough about it. All my computer buddies use it.

I'd be more than happy to help you get on with it, but have no clue how to reach you. Perhaps the folks at Bits can give you my email address. ONLY YOU, mind you. :)
