Jonathan Plutchok Dear BitsDuJour, your questionnaire has not been working for me for a while now. I don't like to like things on Facebook, especially things I haven't even tried yet. So I go for your lame questionnaire. But for weeks now, the answer list area (under the question) is blank. I cannot select an answer, and therefore cannot proceed to the next question. This happens in the latest versions of both Firefox and Chrome and in Internet Explorer 9 and 11. Please fix this.

For the activation part, make sure you are using the same name as you gave in BitsDuJour form, when activating Recentx.

To activate RecentX,

1. Go to RecentX window
2. Click on Help menu and choose ‘Register’ from the menu
3. Now click on Enter Activation Key to specify your name and code.

Constantin Florea @Jonathan Plutchok - I have tried the questionnaire on Firefox, Chrome and IE 11 however I did not get the issue you mention (I tried this on two computers). Is it possible that you have an ad-blocker, pop-up blocker software installed? This type of software may prevent the questionnaire from showing up correctly.

If you use Ghostery on FF, you must whitelist "FluidSurveys" (or some such) on BdJ, otherwise you don't hv access to the questionnaire list.
Also, open NoScript.

All those who haven't received activation keys, please don't worry. There may be some issues with BDJ system. We (Conceptworld) will resolve it if they don't fix the system.

RecentX will work for 30 days even without being activated. So, please enjoy using RecentX until you receive the activation key.

I haven't received an email-receipt aswell yet, as for blocked tracking, it doesn't really matter, never had problems with BDJ regarding that, i don't think it depends on something like this. Could be a temporary issue, delay, overload but they will probably try to fix it asap.

Oh well, i now received 2 receipts in my inbox, it was a bit delayed. :)

Constantin Florea I have updated the instructions in the receipt email regarding the name to make it more clear:
The name is the one associated with the "Purchased By" field in the receipt email and is composed based on your First Name and Last Name from your BitsDuJour account.

Hello All, RecentX activation key is generated based on your BitsDuJour account name. To activate, use the name given against "Purchased By" field in your receipt email or move your mouse over the account icon on top right on this web page. The first item in the menu is the name you must use to activate RecentX.

Lisa Cary This software is a waste of time. Give me a break!! Once, twice, 3 times. I am not going to try again. However I sent a warning to more than 500 people in my contact book telling my friends that this software sucks and asking them to tell everyone they know to avoid this product.

Before you condemn a software manufacturer, you might want to:

a) Make sure it is not something with your computer
b) Ask them for assistance

If the software destroyed your computer, or gave you a virus, I might understand...but if it just doesn't work for you, maybe you are a little premature on sending a "warning" out.

It compresses database of the Firefox & Chrome that is currently installed. This is only provided to improve the performance (& due an old bug in Chrome).

Masood Khan This is the most annoying experience that I ever had for registration of any software. I copies the registration code and my BitsDuJour account name and pasted it but it says Invalid registration code.
I saved the email in text, copies the relevant information, making sure that there is no extra space on either side of the registration code, but no, it would not activate.
So may people are having the same problem, and develper of the softare is not able to resolve it. It says a lot about them.

I liked the features in the software, but I guess I can live without it.

Tortuga After reading the instructions, I had absolutely NO problem activating this program.
The eMail BdJ sends, does have ALL the information needed !!

If anybody could help, I do have a question/problem abt the program itself:
-This new version behaves differently, maybe there is a setting that could help, but I didn't find it
As soon as the cursor moves away from the main window, it automatically closes!
So I need to keep re-opening it, bc I was looking for several items.
-The older version would stay open for as long as I needed it.
Is there a way to revert this behaviour?

Also, if anybody knows, are there other skins? Or only the grey/black default?
It's not that important, just wondering

The window shouldn't close on moving mouse cursor. However, on clicking somewhere else it will auto hide. How ever, you can change these settings using the first button (green pin). Click on the arrow next to it.

There are no skins as of now.

CJCotter (Installed and registered fine. Windows 7 Home Premium.)

Now that we have that settled, the problem with this program is that all of the folder and file links do not clear out in any manner, except by manually doing do. Before closing down my computer, I run a couple of temp file cleaners that do a really thorough job. When I reboot, only the links in RecentX Launcher are still there, while they've been erased everywhere else.

Why would any software developer think that I still want the links I used yesterday? I want them gone, as a result of a reboot, or from program restart. Contact me when you have the upgrade. This thing needs more work. I'm uninstalling it.

This prog is so terrible, it *ONLY* does what is supposed to do ...
This is a one trick pony, it keeps track of what one does, so we can refer to it later, next week, next month, IF the need arises. I use if often when I need to recall smthing I accessed, but can't quite remember ... Also great as a Bookmark reference when one uses many browsers.
Someone that does not want/need this feature, should not install the program & should NOT fault the developer!
I too run a cleaner, and am darn happy it does NOT interfere w the settings within this program.
And, in "Settings" one can easily clear everything immediately or set it to automatically do so in a week, X weeks, X months, etc.

Thank you for your comments & perspective.

I never clicked on the "Clear Recent Items" button. If I had, I would have seen the automatic clearing options that you spoke of. Nevertheless, the minimum setting is one week. That's still too much. After one week, the saved file and folder links this program would create would be 10 FT long, and that is not an exaggeration. If YOU want to scroll through all that, go for it.

On the next release, I hope that Conceptworld designs in clearing options that are much shorter, like "upon closing", or "1 day". Many other software programs have those options; Conceptworld can design them in, as well.

As for my "faulting" the developer, the purpose of this forum is try out the software and then express our likes and dislikes. This is supposed to give the developer input as to how to improve their product. I did just that.

We feel the purpose of the program is lost if the history is not remembered. The program will hardly be useful if you cannot see the document you accessed yesterday or last week.

Yes, as you say "the purpose of this forum is try out the software and then express our likes and dislikes", I totally agree w you. But me thinks there is confusion as to the intrinsic purpose of this app, which is to KEEP TRACK of EVERYTHING you do, to access LATER.
The Dev fulfilled this purpose in an easy efficient interface!!
This being the SOLE PURPOSE of the app, I'm thinking you do not need nor want what the app does.
So, telling the Dev. "This thing needs more work", is dismissive, that's what I felt.
Especially when it works beautifully and he/she is offering it for FREE!!

I've used it since v2.x and though I don't need it everyday, when I need it, boy I am really glad I can go back to last week & find that "thing" I was working on but forgot ...

Also, no matter how many cleaners one uses, there are some things that just are not easily deleted, because Windows keeps track of what you do. Even if there is a delete button on RecentX, in fact they are not deleted, it's just that you don't see them anymore.
You should try Nirsoft's LastActivityView. It's free & portable.
You can see in there everything you did since you installed Windows !!!
You'd be amazed how far back it goes...
What RecentX & Nirsoft's app do, is pull information gathered by Windows itself, and present it to us, each has a different approach, RecentX does it in a beautiful interface, which I prefer.

Usually, cleaners clean cookies, browser traces, MRUs. If one wants to clean more, other approaches are needed & maybe some Registry fiddling also. Although, as you know, too much cleaning can make the OS unstable.
After using many Reg Cleaners, now I only use cCleaner w cEnhancer. Might try BleachBit bc twas recommended by Bruce Schneier (the security guru), but haven't done so yet.
