What are people saying about Southside Solutions Simple Search

Goldilocks Silent video is not a plus when presenting an item for sale. Looks unfinished. Better to have just the screenshot and no video.

Yes, I know this is shallow. I also know that everything from glitzy software packaging to nice paint on cars is what sells. So, I'm left with an annoying feeling about what else isn't quite finished here.

Christopher Kennedy We skipped the glamour and glitz with our demonstration video because a picture is worth a thousand words! No need for a sales pitch in your ear when you can simply see what the software does by watching the video and downloading the demo. Simple Search has been under development for six years. A little interest and research will show you the utility and productivity opportunities that await you in our incredible deal!

Amit Would be good if there is an app that can do open multiple search engines or sites for searched with that keyword I enter.

Eg. I enter the keyword OCR and it searches say, 6 sites (like softpedia, fileforum, cnet, majorgeeks ...) - all which should be custom defined (custom addition of whatever sites the user wants to add, should be there in the app options)

or I enter keyword samsung 830 and it opens up 3 search results in new tabs - like of amazon, ebay and newegg.

But neither this app has custom addition features nor it searches multiple sites at once i think.

Stephen Hines Isn't this something you can do with iGoogle? For free? (Until Android pulls the plug, that is).

Anthony Larson FYI, iGoogle is being pulled in Nov 2013.
I'm still looking for something decent to replace igoogle.

Christopher Kennedy Multiple search engines at once, eh? We can do that...look for that capability in a future release of Southside Solutions Simple Search. What search engines would you have Simple Search query at one time?

Christopher Kennedy Do not limit yourself to the resources Google provides in a single broswer window with iGoogle. Access a multitude of cloud-based resources from a single app using Simple Search!

Is this correct?

Christopher Kennedy I apologize for the misunderstanding. This download DOES qualify you for free updates to minor versions and 50% discounted upgrades to major versions as well as free life-time support.

Tony Haynes Is it possible to tailor the program to incorporate one's own bespoke selection of online resources? For example I often use a rhyming dictionary ( www.rhymezone.com/ ) , or at other times technical dictionaries in specific fields.

Christopher Kennedy At this time, no feature exists in Southside Solutions Simple Search to add your own selection of data sources. However, per your suggestion, we are investigating this as a viable option for an upcoming release. Thank you for your time and interest in Southside Solutions software on BitsDuJour!

Bjondc If I want to use this on two computers I would need two licenses, right? Would I be able get them both on the "free" offer using the same email? Could I be the "same person" but with different emails (possible but a nuisance)? Or what?

Christopher Kennedy To run Southside Solutions Simple Search on two computers concurrently, you would need two licenses. You can obtain as many licenses as BitsDuJour terms and conditions permits. There is no limit imposed by Southside Solutions, LLC. Thank you for your interest in Southside Solutions software on BitsDuJour!

xCurt You do not need to purchase more than one copy, because the downloaded installer does not need a key, so you may install more than once.

Christopher Kennedy Yes, Southside Solutions Simple Search does run under Windows 8 desktop mode! Simply switch to the desktop and launch the application from its' shortcut.

Christopher Kennedy Curt Henning de Thurah: You should be aware that you will be in violation of the End User License Agreement if you use the installer on more than computer. One installer entitles you to installation on a desktop and a laptop, to be used individually.

Tony Haynes Two queries:
1) Is there a way of retaining the last search term (or even a series of them as options) in the interface to allow for the same search under a different heading?
2) Can the program be set to avoid opening each new search in a new tab (or does this have to be set in Chrome's own options)?

Christopher Kennedy @CHdT: Southside Solutions works hard to deliver quality software. To propose the dishonest act of abusing the EULA was not appreciated. Southside Solutions apologizes for any misunderstandings.
Southside Solutions, LLC - Apr 27 2013 at 2:41am Copy Link

Christopher Kennedy @TH: At this time, Simple Search does not retain records of searched terms. Queries must be manually entered or copy and pasted. Per your suggestion, we are investigating the viability of including said feature in the upcoming release of version 2.0. Also, the new tabs option is one specific to your web browser. Simple Search sends a message to the browser where the browser itself decides to reuse or open a new tab. Thank you for pointing out an opportunity to improve our product. Southside Solutions appreciates your interest in our software!

Bjondc The License says "one machine" but here you say "one computer and a laptop" so which is correct? I do have a pretty-much desktop-bound-laptop and a "real" laptop.

Christopher Kennedy Each license allows installation on a single computer and a laptop, but Southside Solutions Simple Search may not be used at exactly the same time on each of them - which would be hard to do either way as you would have to type on two keyboards. Install it on both of your computers per the clause above and enjoy. Your desktop-bound laptop and your real laptop do not violate the license agreement as it exists. Thank you for using Southside Solutions software and BitsDuJour!

Christopher Kennedy @BS: Extract the contents of the .zip archive to a location you can easily access, i.e. your desktop, and run Southside Solutions Simple Search Setup. You may be presented with a UAC dialog to confirm the installation. Continue with the installation by following the on screen prompts until the installation is finished. If you need further assistance, please do ask. Thank you for using Southside Solutions software and BitsDuJour!

Matt Get Ready For SPAM!

And absolutely NO WAY to 'unsubscribe'.

I accepted a 'free' offer ('Word of the Day') from Southside Solutuons last year and have been receiving their spam ever since. To beat that, I never even installed the software! Accepting the offer was enough to get on their spam mailing list.

Thanks a lot Christopher Kennedy!

Rex I read with interest every comment with about this fine software but I find myself stumped on one issue that was never answered. Why did Mr. Curt Henning de Thurah dislike the use of his name by Mr. Christopher Kennedy?

Was it because CK used his full name? Or because CK used his name? Or because CK did not use just his initials? Or was it really for another reason? I excitedly await a response.

Robert Crombie What I would love (and even pay money for) would be a search engine (or front end a bit like yours) that would allow me to type something in quotes, and filters the results so that I ONLY SEE hits that contain that exact string.
