Sometimes, an interface can be a little too simple! Such is the case with folders. You can look at them, see what they're named, but beyond that you really can't tell anything about the files that are inside of them. And if you work heavily with data, this can be a real problem, unless you happen to have a copy of Total Directory Report.

Total Directory Report lets you view any folder, disk, or FTP server as a set of reports with extremely detailed information about the files that are housed on it. What kinds of details, you ask? Well, Total Directory Report reports and lists (which can be either HTML or PDF flavored) can tell you about file types, the sizes of child folders, and the number of modified files for any specific reporting period that you enter. And if you're looking to clear up disk space, Total Directory Report can also create a list of the largest files and folder trees and help you remove unused files. When you're viewing your reports, you can open any media, image, document, or folder right from the report window, so there's no need to leave the application.

No matter how much or how little detail you need, Total Directory Report can be your solution. Whether it's a summary report, a detailed report, or just a snapshot of folder contents, you'll have the power to work with over a million files at a time.

Yosh M Another problem I ran into with TDR. As I wrote before, I installed the trial version. As a completely separate matter, recently two of my most common hotkey shortcuts stopped working, namely CTRL-X for "Cut" and CTRL-N for "New". Every program. Chrome, Word, PowerPoint, etc. Nothing happened when I used those keystrokes.

Suddenly it occurred to me that I'd had the problem since installing TDR trial. I uninstalled it. Immediate relief!

Apparently TDR "steals" those keys for its own purposes - and without telling the user. Not nice.

SagaxSoft Support Yosh M,
TDR uses some hotkey shortcuts but does not install any resident modules. Thus, it is not necessary to uninstall the app, you can just close the window.
Anyway, thanks for the comments.
