Ronald Jurman Downloaded trial.

Required registration. But provided no clear way to register. Without registration just closes. Unable to test. Oh, well.

Peter User I don´t understand that BDJ offers such trash! The SW make only problems: By installing: MS Visual tells a problem / by running: driver-error and so on... Does nobody test the deals BEFORE the goes online?

BearPup Another 64 Bit user with a bad installation. The program appears to install OK and the Registration Code successfully activates the program, but after that, nothing at all.

It maybe version 1.0 of the software, but the developer really ought to make sure the program actually works before releasing it. And BDJ, you really ought to make sure the program works as advertised before releasing it to your followers. Very disappointing.

BearPup

Patricia Lange Got the same Avast warning as Paul Joubert (except in chrome.exe). Just as well. I came here to report it and see it doesn't work with x64 anyway.

"Please resolve the following:

A newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been detected on the machine."

Utter garbage, not worth the discounted price.

Doug Atkinson Worked on my Windows 7 Enterprise 64 Bit OS. I had to run as administrator, it it then recognized both my Wireless and Ethernet adapters. I ran a minute or so capture of network traffic, and it shows a lot of information. Program has a few rough edges:
- As Adam noted, it said to "resolve' having a newer version of Visual C++ on the system, but I just ignored this and completed installation. It seems to work with the newer version.
- Some of the left bar entries show up as Chinese Characters rather than in English. Most of the text was in English, however.
- When I ran the software NOT as admin, the warning screen to tell me why it wasn't working had cut off text. The first solution was to run as admin, and the second said, "The OS has prevented that driver of sax2 be loaded for digital signatures. You can..." but the rest of the text was cut off and there are no scroll bars in that screen.
So it worked for me, but has some rough edges. This tool seems to have similar functionality as Wireshark.

Techtoysavvy I have Wireshark installed already by some other software I got on BDJ.
Maybe I should stick with Wireshark.
Is there any great advantage to this?

Narful User Works for the most part on my Win 8.1 64 bit system. Installed and activated ok, but quickly found out that you must right click and 'run as administrator' before it sees the adapter. As was said, some of the (node labels I believe) are using Chinese characters. I don't know how to change that, or if it can be changed. The rest of it seems to be in English. I had the 'newer version of Visual C++' error message also, but it seems to work anyway. It looks like you must have the 2010 version installed, even if you also have a newer version. I don't know how much I'll use this, but it does show a LOT of activity that one may not be aware that is happening with your system.

Constantin Florea Please notice the Virus Scan page
http://www.bitsdujour.com...virus-scan

The results are from 57 scanners and all but 2 of them labeled the download as clean.

Doug Atkinson Anton, it does work on 64 bit OS. It worked fine on my 64bit Win7 system as well as Narful User's 64bit Win8.1 computers, for example. Did you install and run the system as Administrator?

Andy Huang If a newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been detected on the machine, you dont need to install it and just ignored this . It can work with the newer version

Andy Huang There are two possible reasons will lead to dont detect adapter.
1. You install and run Unicorn without administrator authorization. Please reinstall and run Unicorn with administrator authorization.
2. Your OS is Windows 64 Bit. The OS has prevented that driver of Unicorn be loaded for digital signatures. You may disenable the feature of OS to solve the issure, however, we do not recommend you do it.

JJ Menning This program failed to D/L properly. When trying to D/L a 2nd time, BDJ blocked access. I realized this is a safety feature for BDJ so how is one supposed to try another time after a failed download?

Gary Smith Sad to see this software take a bashing from multiple angles (fails to run properly or not at all, not handling a newer runtime library, displays partial information (some parts obscured/alternate language characters), and possible virus detections by users). I can understand some of these issues for a version 1.0 release. BdJ is a site that can help the developer learn of issues not discovered in-house before release. However, the virus issue is one that should have been totally resolved before release to BdJ users. The 57 scanners have all been well known for a long time now to anyone, especially the developer. If even one reports an infection, it can be significant. It is either valid or a false-positive. If truly valid, the developer should remove it, but if it is a false-positive, it should be up to the developer to get that false-positive resolved with the scanner company before that program ever shows up at BdJ. The issue of considering the numbers for and against should never be the responsibility of the end users. The negative risk that two detections make compounded with the other issues noted in this forum is causing many "would be" installers to avoid the program like the plague. Surely the developer can learn from this important lesson today. I hope the issues get resolved (all of them) as this would be a significant program for Network analysis. In the meantime, those with Wireshark know this program is not "yet" a threat to the network analysis arena.
