Catastrophe is usually a term reserved for a total hardware crash that results in the loss of critical data on your hard drive. But think about it -- how many important messages are stored in your email inbox? Hundreds? Thousands? Tens of thousands? You may have an airtight strategy for protecting your computer, but did you ever think to devise one for your email?

First step? Get Beyond Inbox!

Beyond Inbox is the easy way to backup, archive, organize, transfer, and restore your email messages from any IMAP-enabled email client! With Beyond Inbox, you'll never have to worry about falling victim to lost or corrupted email servers, hacked accounts, even forgotten passwords!

Backing up your email from one or many accounts is absurdly simple with Beyond Inbox. Backup your emails to another email account or store them on your computer's hard drive as individual files in a non-proprietary open format. Best of all, if you choose to backup to your computer, you can easily search for specific information using Desktop Search, no matter which account it originated from!

Restoring your email messages in the event of a disaster is quick and easy, thanks to Beyond Inbox's wonderful Drag and Drop Restore functionality -- just drag your selected messages back to your IMAP account, and you're good to go!

What about those emails that you want to keep, but aren't necessarily critically important? Stop clogging up valuable inbox space, and instead use Beyond Inbox to archive them, in the same way you perform email backups!

For categorization purposes, nothing beats Beyond Inbox! Just search and tag selected email messages (such as payment confirmations), then either copy or move these messages to a different email account or file folder.

Adrian Miller Use thunderbird, its backup/restore process is easy

To backup:
1) Enable hidden and system files
2) Navigate to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird
3) Copy the profiles.ini and Profile folder to a backup location

To restore:
1) Copy profiles.ini and Profiles folder to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird

Its not rocket science.....

Why you would want/need any paid (or momentarily) free software to do this is beyond me

If you pay for "backing up" email in this day and age youre a bit of a fool....

Im just saying....

Ennovy I use the portable version of MailStore Home for several years now.
It's free for personal use.

And it doesn't depend on JAVA

Constantin Florea When registering, please ensure that you're using the correct registration name from the receipt email. The correct registration name is not your name and it can be found in the "Registration Section" in the receipt email. It is shown in bold just above the "Registration_Code".

Daniel Platten Hay the first key didn't work, now the second key don't work, what kind of crappy company is this? I used the email address they sent me which was ect. ect. whatever, IT DID NOT WORK! First they make you also sign up to the website to see why the key don't work, but when you login there is nothing at all there in my account. They make you jump through hoops and it FAILS!

Mad-bdj Marsu Some functionalities go beyond Thunderbird, I think (in particular moving from one email account to another, which is one of my needs).
It's a good opportunity for me to test it, and to propose it to my audience if it works as expected (or beyond ;)).

However, if it works under java, why not providing a .jar file ? or at least a package to install it oneself, for unix/linux users? I guess I'll hace to use the .exe in 64bits to extract what I need out of it, but it would be easier to have a non-installer version. At least for one other resaon : portable version.
Security about mail also goes by not installing a program on a windows system, but just using it.

Congrats for that program!

Karl M. @ John Hood & Daniel Platten:

The registration worked on my computer. Just look that you don't copy and paste a space with the code, which happens very easy. And allow Beyond Inbox in your firewall to connect outside.

Saurabh Dani Hi All

For anyone who is experiencing a problem with activation, can you please ensure that you are using the email address sent as part of the activation code (you must have received an email address / activation key combo, please use that email, instead of your personal email id on the activation screen). If that still does not work, you can email me a screen shot of the error at and I will be sure to resolve it ASAP.

Saurabh Dani Red Microuser, It's a zip install / zip file, which is designed to work from any computer / without installation. If you unzip the zip file, you will see one exe there. Double click on it to launch / invoke it. You can also create a shortcut on your desktop for that exe for easy / quick access. Inc. - Dec 12 2013 at 12:50pm Copy Link
Saurabh Dani Mad-bdj Marsu , there is a non-java version available on beyond inbox website to download. That will work with BitsDuJour activation code. We included the version on bits du jour which has embedded jar, to make it easy for everyone who may not have Java Installed. Inc. - Dec 12 2013 at 12:52pm Copy Link
Saurabh Dani Hi Daniel Platten,

There is no need to signup for the registration page. They keys that were sent to you should work. If you are experiencing trouble, please look at the beyond inbox web site's support page. My cell number is listed there. Give me a call and I will be happy to help.

RE: the non-Java version. Do you mean that it doesn't USE Java at all, or that it doesn't come bundled with JRE because it is assuming JRE is already installed on the host system?
If it doesn't use Java at all, then what is the difference in functionality?

Thanks for the deal.

Saurabh Dani B Josephs - Sorry for the confusion. That means it will work on the systems where Java is already installed. i.e. JRE is not bundled. Inc. - Dec 12 2013 at 4:13pm Copy Link

Saurabh Dani Out activation server was down for about 15 minutes from 12:30 AM to 12:45 AM Eastern. So, if anyone tried to activate during this time and the activation did not work, can you please try again. It should be up and running now. Inc. - Dec 12 2013 at 9:44pm Copy Link
Louis Gedo I am attempting to activate the program but CopyPaste functions don't work and neither does CONTROL+P. Don't tell me that there's no shortcut and that I have to type in every character? What's the simple way to enter the user name/activation code?

Daniel . In the case of it using java, I think I will stick with what PeLi use, mailstore, it's fast and doesn't use java witch is full of security issues.

Jutta Wimmer I really have a mysterious problem. I've downloaded the right version of the software. Win 64bit zip with integrated jre. If I click the .exe a small window appears which I can choose between Buy a License, Activate, Help and Get the 30 day trial. But nothing of the Buttons seems to be functional.

If I click the activation Button, nothing happens. If I click the help button, nothing happens. If I click the Buy now button the browser window appears and so on. If I click the trial button, nothing happens.

I take a look at the log files and one of them tells me, that the .exe can't find the license. Right, because the license should downloaded if I can type in my email information from bits du jour.

But how I can type in my data if nothing happens when I click the Activation Button?

Additional to that I deactivated my firewall and antivir program. I have the .exe given all the rights to connect with the inet before I deactivate the programs.

Saurabh Dani Hi Jutta Wimmer - can you please try to right click on the exe and 'run as' administrator? If it still does not work, can you please call me at my cell (it's listed on beyond 'support page'. I will try to resolve it with you on phone. Inc. - Dec 13 2013 at 4:58am Copy Link
Christopher Paris It says the backup is stored in an open file format. Can the backup then be imported into another email program? For example, could this be used to convert Thunderbird emails to Outlook?

Jutta Wimmer Saurabh Dani:

I've try to start the .exe as admin but it was the same problem. I've downloaded the same .zip after this test and I've closed the UAC, so no messages from the User thing from windows would show up. I restart my PC, I've cleaned all my cached and temp files inclusive the MUI Cache in the registry.

Then, Then I clicked with closed eyes the new donwloaded .exe and what should I say? It works :)

I don't know what step from all these was the right but I think that's not important. It works and that is all that I want!

Thx for the friendly request and I'm sorry for my imperfect English but it's not my mother language.

Ronak Jain Hi Louis Gedo,
You should have to use CTRL + C to copy and CTRL + V to paste. CONTROL+P does not work.
