Those of you who perform a lot of drafting and design work understand that the most important factor, above all else, is accuracy! Back when most of the design work was done in hardcopy, it was easy enough to find yourself bent over a schematic, measuring and comparing to make certain that everything was precise. It's funny to think how computers have actually made this task more difficult! Since you can't hold a measurement device like a ruler or protractor up to a computer display and expect it to be accurate, there's Screen Divider!

Screen Divider gives you a reliable way to measure distances, Cobb angles, and confirm parallel lines, for any image or schematic that's on your computer screen!

When you run Screen Divider, you'll have a convenient measuring tool that runs as an overlay on your computer screen and is fully configurable using only your mouse. Use the intuitive controls to adjust the width of your divider lines to ensure that your on-screen elements are evenly spaced. Add a second divider to calculate Cobb angles. Or use Screen Divider to confirm that two lines are perfectly parallel.

Combine this functionality with Screen Divider's ability to measure the distance between any two points on your screen, assist in measuring the angle between any two lines, or determine the angle of any line with the horizontal, and you have the makings of an indispensable part of your development toolkit!

Can this software measure "real" distance? What I mean by that is, for example when looking at a map image and the distance legend is in the bottom corner (this line = 100' or whatever) and extrapolate that to another area on the same image to get the real measurement? That would be great.

You can do what you wrote. Specifically to do this, first of all you would have to know (you can measure this using this application) how many pixels a certain distance is on the map. For example you can measure a line in the legend section and find out that that line is 30 pixels and that line is 50 km in the real world. Once you know these two values, you can add a new units like this: you would have to right click the Divider anywhere then select Units->"Add Units" from the contextual menu which appears and then in the Pixels field add 30 and in the "Length in Units" field add 50. Then you need to save the newly created unit by pressing the Save Units button and then right click the Divider again so the contextual menu appears and hover (or click) over the "Units" menu so that the submenu (of the "Units" menu) will appear, that submenu contains the default and the newly created units and once it appeared, you can select your newly created unit from that list. Then the Divider will show you any measurements on that image considering this new unit you selected.

We have a similar feature (of measuring and adding the new unit) in one of our other measurement applications called "Points On A Canvas":
That feature in "Points On A Canvas" is called "Live Calibration" and makes this (measuring and adding the new unit) much easier because it assists the user.
